Two rows of low-rise houses, a narrow and messy street, and a green Hummer pulled in at a slow speed.
The wide tires ran over a puddle of sewage, causing the water to splash onto a drunk man who was carrying a packet meal. The drunkard glared and cursed.
"Damn! Are you blind? Is driving a nice car a big deal!"
The Hummer that had just driven past suddenly braked and came to an abrupt stop.
The drunk man was startled. He had sobered a lot. He muttered, "Damn, can he even hear this?"
Seeing the car door open, and someone getting out of the car, the drunk man took a deep breath, retreated several steps, turned around and fled!
Cora, the co-driver, got out of the car first, then respectfully opened the rear door, bowed and said, "My Lord, please get down from the car."
Claude, who was in the driver's seat, also got out of the car. He opened the other door at the back, and said respectfully, "Mrs. Jini, please get out of the car."
Humphrey and Jini got out of the car, one followed by the other, and looked at the alley in front of them. Humphrey asked, "Sister-in-law, do you live in this alley now?"
Jini nodded and said, "Yes, since I moved out of Maxobridge Villa, I took Selena, and lived here with my aunt and the others."
Humphrey's eyes narrowed slightly and he said, "You go in and pack your things. Take Selena, and leave with me. From now on, I will take care of your lives."
"Ah?" Jini said anxiously, "I don't think this is good."
Humphrey looked sideways, "What's wrong with this?"
Jini muttered, "Humphrey, Sister-In-Law understands your intention, but I am fine living here. If I take Selena away all of a sudden, I'm afraid my aunt and the others will think too much into it."
Humphrey sneered and said, "What is there for them to think too much into? For a little benefit, they instigated and coerced you to be Nelson Dunn's mistress. Such elders, such relatives, there is no difference between having them or not."
Didn't you say that you should give Selena the best conditions? This is not a good place for Selena to live in. Moreover, people from the Dunn family and the Cooper family will inevitably come here to take revenge. It will be safer to live with me. "
Hearing what Humphrey said, Jini no longer hesitated but nodded, "Alright, I'll go in and pack my things now."
Humphrey followed her. Without looking back, he said to Claude and Cora, "You guys wait here."
This alley was even narrower, barely big enough for a small three-wheeler to pass through. There were three gates inside. They were three dilapidated houses.
Just the courtyard alone where Jini and the others lived, there were three families living there.
At this moment, inside the first courtyard, Abigail, Candiece, and Horace were eating watermelon in the courtyard.
Above their heads, and beneath the beams, a dim lamp was lit. Many mosquitoes were flying and circling under the lamp.
Candiece chomped on the watermelon and said happily, "Mom, you mentioned that once Jini sleeps with Mr. Dunn, it won't be a problem, given Mr. Dunn's ability, to buy us a big house, right?"
Abigail rolled her eyes at her daughter and said sarcastically, "Look at how low your aspirations are, the Dunn family is now the second-rank family in Lymelathe City. What is a mere house?
As long as Jini is able to hook Mr. Dunn, you don't have to worry about houses, cars, bags, and shoes."
Candiece snorted, "Although I despise my sister-in-law, I have to say that she is really very good at seducing men.
Look at how my cousin was obsessed with her back then. If it weren't for her, the Herbert family would not have collapsed, and my cousin would not have committed suicide. So, when it comes to seducing Nelson Dunn, I have great confidence in her. "
Abigail greatly agreed and responded, "Yes, the collapse of the Herbert family is closely related to her! If it weren't for her, Dempsey wouldn't have taken the risk to do that in the first place."
Before she finished speaking, the door curtain of the room in front suddenly opened a gap at the lower part.
Abigail caught a glimpse of the suddenly raised gap and shut her mouth suddenly.
Horace asked, "Mom, why aren't you continuing to talk?"
Abigail coughed twice and said, "What is there to talk about? There is nothing to talk about. Eat some melon, eat some melon."
As she spoke, she turned to look at the room and said loudly, "Selena, do you really not want to come out and eat some watermelon? This melon is so sweet."
The door curtain of the room was immediately released, and a girl's puny voice could be heart, "Aunt, I don't like melons, all of you may have them."
Abigail said, "Since you don't wish to eat any, then go to bed early. Your mother won't be back tonight, do you understand?"
There was no answer from inside. After a moment, there was the sound of something shattering.
Boom!"
"Ah, this little girl has quite a bad temper," Abigail shook her head, gave an eye signal to Candiece and Horace, and whispered, "That girl is really smart, we have to be careful when we talk.”
Candiece said nonchalantly, "A little girl who can't even understand addition and subtraction within a hundred, who would really take her seriously?"
"Crunch."
At this time, the old iron door was pushed open from the outside, and Jini stepped in.
Abigail and the other two looked up. They were stunned for a moment, then all their expressions changed and became dark.
Abigail opened her mouth and asked, "Why are you back so early? Could it be that you didn't go to see Mr. Dunn?"
Jini opened her mouth and replied in a low voice, "I went to the hotel and met Nelson Dunn."
Candiece frowned and said, "Since you met him, shouldn't you spend the night with Mr. Dunn? Could it be that he didn't want you spending the night with him?"
Horace snorted, shook his head and said, "Unlikely. Mr. Dunn's character is known throughout Lymelathe City. It had taken him so long and after paying such a high price to be with Jini. Why would he let Jini come back so easily?"
Abigail threw away the half-eaten melon rind in her hand, stood up, and said coldly, "Jini, what's going on, please explain!"
Candiece and Horace also stared at Jini with unkind expressions!
Jini gritted her teeth and was about to speak. Behind her, Humphrey Herbert pushed the door open and strode in from Jini Su's side.
Humphrey looked at Abigail and the others coldly, and said quietly, "That's because I have killed Nelson Dunn, and he no longer needs anyone to accompany him for the night. I wonder if this explanation is satisfactory to you?"
Seeing Humphrey appear, the facial expressions of Abigail and the other two turned ugly, especially Candiece, who became visibly hostile.
Upon hearing Humphrey actually say he had killed Nelson Dunn, Candiece laughed aloud, "You say you have killed Nelson Dunn? Are you kidding me? Who is Nelson Dunn? Is he someone you are able to kill? You are really bragging to the sky!”
Humphrey shook his head indifferently and came toward Candiece in big strides.
"You, what do you want to do?" Candiece recalled the scene of her being slapped by Humphrey Herbert at noon in Yeonsan Cemetery, and took a step back in fear!
However, despite taking a step back, Humphrey's slap still went across her face!
"Snapped!"
With one slap, Candiece was knocked to the ground!
Candiece sat on the ground, covering her face, and said angrily, "Humphrey Herbert, are you hitting me again?"
"Humphrey Herbert, don't go too far!" Horace could not take it anymore. He glared and reached out to grab the collar of Humphrey's windbreaker, intending to argue with him!
Humphrey looked at Horace coldly. Another slap from him threw Horace to the ground.
Seeing both her children being knocked to the ground in an instant, Abigail was anxious and furious. She asked sternly, "Humphrey Herbert, what do you really want?"
Humphrey straightened his windbreaker gently and said calmly, "I have mentioned this before, Jini is their sister-in-law, yet they don't even know how to address their sister-in-law properly. A slap in the face is the lightest punishment.
Aunt, you shouldn't have any objections, because it is your failure to teach your children."
Abigail gritted her teeth and was silent for a moment.
Humphrey suddenly tilted his head slightly and saw a young figure standing at the door.
She had quietly lifted the corner of the door curtain, and one large, bright eye was looking at Humphrey curiously through the gap.
Humphrey's was startled. His icy face gradually softened, and he walked toward her with a smile on his face.
This was the first time he showed a gentle smile after setting foot again on the soil of Lymelathe.
