In a hidden warehouse in the downtown area, Relina, looking pale, was hiding there.
Bloodstains were still visible on the corners of his mouth, and he looked extremely weak.
Cultivators, even those at the Qi cultivation level, possess certain qualities unmatched by ordinary people, such as vital blood essence.
This is equivalent to the concentration of a cultivator's entire life essence. Using vital blood to activate spells can greatly increase the power of the spells, but at the same time, the consumption of vital blood causes significant self-harm. It can even damage the cultivation foundation, and excessive use may make recovery extremely difficult.
In order to save his life, Relina had decisively burned some of his vital blood. Even though it wasn't much, the damage to himself was very severe.
"Damn it," Relina grimaced with rage, "how could there be a cultivator involved in this, damn it, damn it."
"If I've failed here, it won't stay hidden for long. I can't have any contact with him now. In fact, I need to escape even further. That young man probably won't pursue me, but if the Secret Service's bunch of fools find any clues, I'll be in trouble." Relina forced himself to calm down. Healing his injuries was the most important thing for now.
Meanwhile, as Relina was hiding and healing, two people were investigating in the forest where the shootout had originally occurred, surrounded by layers of police.
The police on the perimeter dared not step in, they were only handling Isaihas's bodyguards and the four bandits.
"There's a scent of fire and a whiff of strong wind," a handsome man in his late twenties carefully observed his surroundings, murmuring to himself.
"We can almost be certain that two cultivators fought here," added a woman in her mid-twenties, exuding a cold aura, her expression nothing but chilly.
"One of them fled in panic, the other left calmly. Siyah, which one should we pursue?"
Siyah frowned and said, "You chase one, I'll chase the other. Also, Rogen, please call me Siyah from now on. I don't like you calling me that way."
Rogen, embarrassed, laughed and said, "Then I'll go after the one who fled. He must be hiding, which makes it hard to trace, but I have an advantage over you in this. We must act quickly or lose the trail."
"Alright," Siyah nodded and took the lead out of the forest.
"Wait for me, Siyah. One day, I will completely conquer you," Rogen muttered to himself before striding out of the forest.
Half an hour later, Rogen broke into an abandoned warehouse. With his ability to track scents and his mastery of metal-based abilities, he could continue the chase as long as he acted swiftly and the clues didn't break.
However, the warehouse was empty, with no sign of anyone.
Rogen, twirling a small knife in his hand, looked at the spot where Relina had been sitting, noticing some bloodstains nearby.
"Left not long ago, huh? I'll see where you can run to," Rogen muttered, "Daring to fight in the downtown area, treating our Tokai Secret Service as if we don’t exist."
Sniffing the air, Rogen left the warehouse, quickly identifying the direction and resuming the chase.
On the other hand, Siyah lost the trail on the main road.
The scent had dissipated over time, and the myriad smells on the main road made tracking difficult.
Furthermore, without Rogen's scent-tracking abilities, the trail was effectively lost for her.
However, Siyah just frowned slightly, showing no disappointment, and quickly returned to obtain preliminary case information from the police.
"Just these people in the motorcade, no one else?" Siyah coldly stared at Shederick, the deputy director of the Tokai City Public Security Bureau and head of the major case squad.
"Second-level authority," Shederick replied reluctantly. His rank was quite high in the Tokai public security system, but facing the Secret Service's crazies, he couldn't help feeling somewhat inferior.
Siyah glanced at Shederick and coldly showed her credentials.
"There are two more people, Canyn and Hiroko. The target is now confirmed to be Canyn, a doctor who was supposed to treat Isaihas. We can't afford any mishaps with him, especially given Isaihas's significance to Tokai."
"I don't need all these details, I just want to know where this Canyn is," Siyah interrupted, bluntly.
"Tokai City First People's Hospital," Shederick replied helplessly, confirming the location.
Siyah, having shown credentials that marked her not just as a regular Secret Service member, left Shederick in awe. He saw a blue star on her credentials.
Although it was just one star, it was enough for Shederick to cooperate unconditionally.
Watching Siyah leave, Shederick didn't admire her beauty but quickly returned to his car and made a phone call.
"Director Shederick?"
"Mr. Isaihas, there's been a change," Shederick spoke solemnly, "The Secret Service has intervened, and it's a one-star agent. I must be honest. She's already on her way to the hospital to find Canyn."
"Thanks, Director Shederick. I'll invite you for tea sometime." Isaihas was a bit troubled. The Secret Service, a group of crazies with various special privileges, was not something he wished to deal with.
"Good to know, good to know," Shederick's eyes crinkled into a line as he smiled.
After hanging up the phone, Isaihas frowned in thought. Then he slowly found a number and hesitated for a moment before dialling it.
It took a while for the call to be answered.
"Hello?" The voice from the phone made Isaihas instinctively sit up straight.
"Mr. Leigh, hello, I'm Uyiosa's grandson, my name is Isaihas," Isaihas said respectfully.
"Uyiosa's grandson, what's the matter?" Mr. Leigh asked, puzzled.
"Mr. Leigh, it's like this, my grandfather is seriously ill," Isaihas briefly and succinctly explained the situation about his grandfather being schemed against, Canyn's arrival, the subsequent attack, and the Secret Service currently investigating Canyn.
"Uyiosa's descendant, sigh," Mr. Leigh said in a heavy voice, "You haven't done anything wrong, what's there to fear?"
"I'm not afraid, but right now Canyn is treating my grandfather. I'm worried that we can't stop the Secret Service. Could you, sir, possibly send a message on my behalf? Even if they want to find Canyn, they should wait until after Canyn has treated my grandfather," Isaihas cautiously said.
"The Secret Service in Tokai City, I don't know if they will respect an old man like me. I'll ask for you," Mr. Leigh said with a sigh, "Uyiosa, an old friend of mine."
"Thank you, Mr. Leigh, thank you," Isaihas hurriedly expressed his gratitude.
Isaihas didn't know much about Mr. Leigh, not even his full name. He had only stored this number following his grandfather's instructions, saying that if he ever had trouble with the Secret Service, he could call this number, and Mr. Leigh would definitely help the first time.
And now, indeed, Mr. Leigh was very forthcoming.
Using this opportunity at this time, Isaihas didn't feel it was a loss at all. As long as Canyn could smoothly diagnose and treat his grandfather, it was all worth it.
Meanwhile, Siyah had already appeared in the hospital.
And soon, she was at the door of Mr. Wang's ward.
"Stop right there, what are you doing? This is a ward, you can't go in," Jhanae immediately intercepted Siyah.
Who knows what the situation inside was like. If disturbed, it could lead to an accident, and that would be a big problem.
"Is Canyn in there?" Siyah asked, slightly frowning at Jhanae.
"Yes," Jhanae eyed Siyah, asking, "Are you looking for Canyn?"
Hiroko, who was playing with her phone, also looked up at Siyah, wondering who she was and what she wanted with Canyn.
"Then I'm right," Siyah said, pushing the door.
"What's wrong with you? Canyn is inside, and he cannot be disturbed right now," Jhanae quickly blocked Siyah's path, angrily speaking.
If this person's reckless intrusion caused any accident to her grandfather, Jhanae would not let it go.
"Let me through," Siyah frowned.
To the police, Siyah's identity was quite intimidating, almost akin to their superior. But to ordinary people, this intimidation was less effective.
And within the Secret Service, there really weren't many privileges against ordinary people.
"I won't let you. Why are you like this? I've said you can't enter now, what's wrong with you?" Jhanae was completely furious.
Siyah was getting a little angry.
Jhanae suddenly felt as if she had fallen into an ice cave, shivering all over.
But at this moment, Siyah's phone beeped.
"Director."
"That Canyn, don't rush to meet him now. He's a doctor, treating a patient. We'll talk after he comes out."
"Yes, Director," Siyah hung up the phone.
She didn't ponder why she received such a call but immediately turned around and sat down, seemingly prepared to wait.
Jhanae looked at Siyah a bit fearfully. That icy feeling just now couldn't have been an illusion.
This cold woman was not to be trifled with.
Since she no longer intended to barge in, Jhanae didn't stop her anymore. She didn't even think about chatting with her.
In comparison, Hiroko was easier to talk to. Jhanae was almost friends with Hiroko now.
And now, Jhanae felt she should put in more effort.
Because Canyn was becoming more and more mysterious, more and more intriguing. She was sure to get a lot of information about Canyn from Hiroko.
Siyah's phone beeped again.
"Rogen, how's it going on your end?"
Siyah asked.
"No trace. I almost caught him, but unfortunately, he got away," Rogen asked, "How about your side?"
"All smooth," Siyah said.
"Where are you? I'll come and assist you," Rogen said enthusiastically.
"No need," Siyah coldly refused.
"That person is not to be underestimated. It's safer for us to join forces," Rogen insisted.
"I said there’s no need," Siyah put down the phone after saying this, and her brows slightly furrowed before quickly returning to her usual cold demeanour.
