Chapter 3 Wedding night

Gwen finished her task and left quickly; she felt too ashamed to face the man again, even if he was unconscious. As she stepped out, the Master Lu had been waiting there for her. " It is your first time to take care of Hugh, how was it, everything okay?" Gwen nodded as the nude of the man rose before her eyes; he was really good-looking, except that she was having a hard time getting over the shame. Maybe time would change the her perceptions. " Everything is fine." Master Lu replied with a nod and conversed with her casually. After about half an hour, a man in a black suit walked in with two little red books in his hand. " Here are your marriage certificates. I'll keep them for you if that’s okay with you." Gwen shook her head gracefully, with full awareness of the subtext of Master Lu: the marriage certificates were in my hands, and you were in name but not in deed as the Mrs. Lu. They could throw her out of the house anytime her existence was not necessary in this house. But Gwen didn't mind. Her agreement to marry Hugh Lu was simply her bail out of the prison of doom and gloom. It was a deal for both. Her reason and sensibility assured Master Lu a lot , " Good, then, you go ahead to learn the massage techniques from the maid, that’s also your job to do." Gwen obeyed and went back to Hugh Lu's room, where the masseuse was massaging Hugh. She gave Gwen a nod and motioned her to sit beside her and watch. Gwen seated herself and watched the man's muscles being pushed and rubbed by the delicate hands of the masseuse. She was shy for a moment but slowly impressed by the masseur skillful techniques. The masseuse should be credited for helping Hugh Lu maintain his muscle mass for the past three years of no movement. If she had, she could not help but think to herself, learned her techniques earlier, perhaps she could have made her mother's recover faster three years ago. Gwen's eyes dimmed at the thought of her mother. Her mother suffered a stroke at the provocation of the three shameless Wen family and had been paralyzed on the bed. How was she now? Just thinking about it brought the tears to her eyes. She collected herself immediately and regained her composure; since she was out here, seeing her mother was just a matter of time. So, soon enough, she immersed herself in learning the massage techniques. Since they were wedded in order to revive Hugh, they had to follow the rule of the marriage. Gwen paused for a second and nodded. She knew that she had no choice but to do whatever she was told; she could not understand what Master Lu was expecting from this, after all, Hugh was still in his vegetative state; was she supposed to...ride on him? After dinner, Gwen dutifully returned to Hugh Lu's room, where, like any normal wedding room, the bedding had been changed to bright red and two red candles have been lit on the table. Someone turned off the lamp and left the red of the candle flames staining the room with warm light. The seriousness was a bit amusing for Gwen; were they truly expecting her to make out with the vegetative man? Gwen mocked herself before turning to look at the man in bed; his face softened in the candlelight, missing its usual chill of solemnity, giving out a false impression that he was merely asleep. "From today on, you are my husband, isn’t it funny? In this three years I almost died several times because of you; I have hated you, so have you, I think; now we become husband and wife, maybe this is our fate." " It doesn't matter if you never wake up." Getting a bit bored, Gwen decided to experiment on the man with the massage she had just learned today. " Anyway, I just want to get out of there; but, don't worry, I'll take good care of you, otherwise, my life here won’t be easy either?" Gwen exerted her strength and massaged the man with what she had learned today. It was such an exhausting job that she felt a bit tired after a while. Good thing was Hugh Lu's bed was big enough for two, and she didn't have to worry about him getting up and doing something to her, so she tucked into the corner of the bed and closed her eyes. Feeling a bit cold in the middle of the night, Gwen’s body instinctively groped for the heat source near her and leaned forward in the trance. Shortly, she slipped into the man's arms and comforted herself by thinking this was her vegetative “husband”. Warmth, suppleness, elasticity, she felt completely safe in his arms. What could be more perfect? Soon, she fell into her deepest sleep she had over the past three years. ... The next day. As sunlight streamed in from the open curtains, Gwen frowned and muttered, and the warmth behind her back reminded her of the arms in which she was now lying. Humid and cold prison life had to some extent degenerated her health, so she was especially afraid of the cold, but she just had a satisfying and refreshing sleep in a man's arms for a night. Startled, She could not help but let out a faint scream; with her eyes full of suspect and doubt, she could not understand how... Could it be that...Hugh Lu, had waken up?
