Chapter 9 Ghosts wrestling!

Suddenly, someone grabbed me by the arm and pulled me violently from the ground. I thought it was the grandaunt who had caught up; out of scare, I flattered my hands and feet wildly: "Let go of me! Let go! You have been dead for so long why are you going after me? I am not responsible for the death of your daughter or your granddaughter! I'm not your enemy!" "Such a coward, you should have listened to my advice." The familiar arrogant voice quieted me down; I looked up at him. That demon I had marriage with stood in front of me and looked down at me; he had swapped back the scarlet, malicious-looking mask, which was even terrifying in the moonlight. "Aren't you gone? What are you doing back here?" I kneaded my still painful belly and stood up,and for a time I could not even straighten my back; out of the pain, I stayed arched to relieve the pain. That was when I really felt how tall he was; standing in front of him, I was like a little girl who had not yet grown up, especially with my slim body type and 163cm-at-most height. From my visual inspection and conservative estimation, he was at least 185 CM. His voice grew cold. "Did I ever tell you that any harm came to the one inside your belly, you would be a dead meat?!” I was on my guard at once. After all, this fellow was not a human, but a ghost, a demon; I didn’t know how his thinking worked, but if he got irritated, my only way out was run, and I didn’t think I could outrun him by any chance. I kneaded my belly casually and made a pretence by rising my still painful body: "It was not hurt, not at all, but could you enlightened me at least...What’s the thing you hid in my belly? Tell me and I may be more careful. Maybe it is not so easy to break?" He leaned close to me and said mysteriously, "You seriously want to know?" I nodded. "I am curious..." He ran his hand gently over my belly and then said, "Son, my son." I rolled my eyes and walked away: "Enough is enough, save your joke." It had been four years since we last made out, and he was telling me I was now pregnant with his child? Was it Nezha within my belly? Even Nezha did not stay in the womb for four years. Besides, I hadn't felt anything different in the last four years, and my belly stayed flat, the only thing odd was... my period never came, that’s all. There were no symptoms other than the absence of a period, and I'd be crazy to believe him. I panicked at his word; I could not do this to my grandpa, to his afterlife. I pushed him away and made a dash toward the direction which I just ran away from; stumbling in the darkness on the bumpy road, I finally saw my grandpa and, of course, the fierce grandaunt again. They were still engaged in the wrestling, except this time, she was sitting on my grandpa with her claw-like handed strangling my grandpa’s throat tightly; my grandpa was going to end up just like that demon mentioned--got his head twisted off! "Jennifer Lee! Aren't you trying to kill me? I am here, let go of my grandpa!" With my courage coming out of nowhere, I picked up a stone and threw it at the direction of grandaunt. Grandpa cried out pitifully, "My Rae, why do you even come back?" Being distracted by my presence and feeling hopeless to buy me more time, grandpa had his neck snapped broken by grandaunt, uttering a crispy, even harsh, click sound. I covered my mouth and swallowed the scream back; Grabbing my grandpa’s head, grandaunt rose to her feet and walked toward me step by step, “Rae, my dear Rae, good girl, come to granny, talk to granny, I have your favorite hairpin...” She discarded the head of my grandpa as if it was a ball, and reached her hand to take down the hairpin on her head. Without the hairpin, her hair started falling on the floor strand by strand, and soon enough, she was bald. Waves of nausea washed over me. The full moon light illuminated everything on the ground; Grandpa’s head rolled and came to a halt soon; could it still be attached back? Would the afterlife of my grandpa being a handicapped or did he even have an afterlife without the head? "Jennifer Lee! What have you done!! You lunatic! I didn't know you were so evil before. Fortunately, you died early, or I don't know how many people would get hurt because of you!" My heart was filled with anger and fear. Grandaunt’s face was even fierce and twisted: "How dare you call me by my name?! People get hurt even I was long dead anyway? Miss your grandpa? I'll take you to meet him!" Suddenly she came running towards me, not at all as slow as she had been. In a panic, I turned around and tried to flee when my head bumped into a firm but soft chest. He had held me steady by tightly grabbing my arms. I could feel him? Ooh, of course, otherwise how could he...do that thing to me? Still badly shaken, I turned around to have an eye on the grandaunt. She was upon me now, with that face complacent with triumph and her hairpin raised high in the air ready to stab me; I cried out in fear, shut my eyes and buried my face in the broad chest; I thought I was doomed, but the stabbing and pain had not got to me as expected; instead, from behind me coming the scream of agony of grandaunt: “ Get out of my business, bastard!” I turned around and opened my eyes as gingerly and slowly as I could; demon had grabbed her wrist so firmly that she could not make any movement with her hand. I crouched behind him and felt a bit more relived and confident. This demon could walk in daytime, I was pretty sure he could handle the old lady ghost easily. He did not say a word but put forth more strength into his grab, leaving grandaunt screaming even harsher. "Who the hell are you?! Why are you protecting this jinx girl?!" Grandaunt screamed. At the impact of a kick, grandaunt flew backward. “I am the one who she married to four years ago.” Grandaunt struggled to get up and said: "Why didn’t you take her with you? To keep her alive and with her dark aura, she is gonna kill more people!" That was also my question for the past four years? Why?
