CHAPTER 5

I smiled at him nervously and went outside. There he was, occupying the driving seat in his car with a emotionless face. I grabbed a seat and slowly pulled the door shut. After that I started adjusting the seat belt with my trembling fingers but after several attempts, the result was all vain. Suddenly his arm reached towards me and he locked the seat belt with so much easiness that it was one of the simplest task. The smell of his intoxicating Cologne found it's way through my nostrils making my senses numb. I was this much struck in my thoughts that I almost forgot that was already driving. My eyes fell on his strong, rough fingers which were tightly wrapped on the steering wheel. " Are you angry?" I don't know how these words slipped out and second next I started regretting. " I am sorry." I whispered softly and looked at him but he just maintained the blank face. Something is definitely wrong. He was behaving strange today. He was not yelling neither staring at me like usual. Should I ask him? I instantly dropped the idea of asking him anything and turned on the music player, "Thousand years" of Christiana perri  started blasting and I smiled surprisingly as it was one of my favorite song. I started mouthing lyrics and turned my eyes towards window. The Day we met. Frozen. I held my breath. right from the start. I knew that I found a home for my heart beats fast. Colors and promises. How to be brave ? How can I love when I'm afraid to fall? But watching you stand alone. All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow. One step closer. I have died everyday waiting for you. Darling don't be afraid I have loved you. for a thousand years I'll love you for a thousand more. A soft knots formed inside my belly and there was something about this song this time that forced me to think about Rehan. It was not like I heard this song for the first time but definitely for the first time I have a feeling of some strange emotions connected with this song. What's happening with me? Suddenly, Rehan turned the music off and when I looked up at him, I found something painful in his eyes. But after few seconds, once again he returned to neutral look. " A-Are you fine?" I questioned him weekly and instantly his face snapped towards. " Don't put these shitty love songs in front of me." His eyes were clearly reflecting some dark emotions like pain, hurt, anger but was it actually or I was just hallucinating? I blinked in confusion and curiosity but it seemed like he had realized that I was trying to read his face, so he fixed his face on the windshield. I sighed. There was something strong and painful which he was hiding deep inside him. "We are here."  I realized that we had reached our destination. So, I stepped out after him and to my surprise I found that he had brought me to one of the best restaurant of this city. He intertwined his fingers with mine and just like that a weird sensation hit my skin. We walked inside and I tried my best to avoid the pair of eyes which were fixed on us. " Welcome sir, welcome ma'am, please have a seat." A beautiful girl stood smiling to us whilst gesturing towards the special table. I mouthed thank-you to her and sat across Rehan. As i shifted my eyes in the surrounding, I found everyone giving the aura of high class. Then it hit me that I am here in my jeans and shirt. I bite my inner cheeks in embarrassment and looked at my cloth over and over again. " You are perfectly dressed at lest not like the revealing clothes you use to wear." He blankly said, going through the menu. I don't know why but every inch of my insecurity went away. " I had no idea that we are having a dinner otherwise I might have dressed appropriately. " I don't like to repeat myself, I said that you're perfectly dressed, right? Now stop roaming your eyes and order something, I am famished." I nodded with a light laugh. After that, once again our environment turned into awkward silent. " So tell me something about you." He asked out of blue and catch a look at his platinum wrist watch. But before I could reply anything his facial posture changed, making my words to die in my mouth. "What the fuck were you doing with Vishal on the same couch?" I flinched at his sudden change in tone. His mood swings! First he asked me something out of blue than this? Why he's so confusing? "We were-" I paused than added " I am sorry." Pulling my bottom lips in between my teeth, I hesitatingly looked up at him and to my surprise he was looking at me back. " Do you have any boyfriend?" He stressed the boyfriend word bitterly. I smiled at his silly question. "If I have boyfriend than do you really think, I would be here, with you?" I gestured towards our table. " Do you have any girlfriend?" I asked him nervously and he let out a humorless sarcastic laugh. " No." " Why?" " Isn't it obvious that now I am going to have a wife. So having a girlfriend would be crime." " Yeah, if you will than definitely vishal will kill you. He has more soft corner for his sister than for his best friend." And don't know why but for few seconds, it actually felt like we had know each other already. Maybe. But than something unusual happened, he started laughing really hard and for the first time I got the pleasure of watching his real smile which revealed his cute dimple. My eyes went wide, witnessing the twinkling spark in his eyes. This is the date, to remember. Soon as if he remembered something and again that plain, dark and arrogant look returned to his face. My heart clenched a little but quickly I composed myself as I know that something harsh is going to follow up.
