Chapter 3- Darkness

Words : 1556 Updated : Jan 13th, 2021
Deila's pov A lot of things were running through my mind as the feeling of dread snuck in. I was calculating the steps I'd have to take before I reached the door and run for my life and at the same time calculating the steps I'd have to take to grab the lamp at the side of my bed and smack the person on their head. My breath increased rapidly as I tried to free my hand from the tight grip. Could it be a burglar? Or someone trying to kidnap me? I thought then settled for the later seeing that my dad had made so many enemies so far in the line of business. I was going to scream when a muscular hand covered my mouth as if knowing what I was about to do. "Hahaha." I heard my tormentor laugh, it sounded so familiar. Was it me, or did the mysterious persons laugh sounded so much like Dawn Barbson's? "Calm down sis," My tormentor said through laughs. Relieve washed through me as my hands were freed. I switched on the light and was greeted with light brown eyes and low hair cut. Fucking Dawn. I walked over to my bedside, grabbing a pillow angrily. He raised his hand up in surrender when he saw me approach him. "It's m-" I didn't let him finish before I smacked his head with the pillow. "Ow!" He complained through laughs "Like that would hurt me." He snickered. "Ow!" This time it wasn't a complaint, it was a scream that followed my stretching up to grab both his ears. "You should never do that!" I yelled glaring at him. What I didn't get was why he was laughing. I was dead serious. He gave me the fright of my life and thought it funny? "Calm dow-" He couldn't finish his soothing because I pulled on his ears hard. And harder. "What were you saying?" I asked him through clenched teeth. "Ow. Ouch! You should let my ears be now, don't you think?" He winced from the pain. His request led to was my pulling harder. "Sis! the lights are on now. Scared b-b..." He trailed finally getting that I didn't find it funny. I arched a brow up, my lips curving as I waited for him to complete his sentence. He never did. A loud sigh of relief came out of him when I let go of his ears. "Even though it'd be an exciting view, I don't want you without ears." because you're my adorable brother. But I didn't tell him that, it would only feed his ego some more and I wasn't giving him the pleasure. "And, blah, 'cause you love me." He rubbed his now free ears in circles. "So how's my favorite sister doing?" Making my way to the bed, I turned around to give him a look of 'the feeling ain't mutual'. I dragged my black and silver duvet over me, enjoying the luxury of my soft mattress. "What exactly brought you here?" "Tsk, tsk. You still haven't changed uhh? Still don't joke about the dark?" I yawned as he talked, then gave him a 'hmm' as my reply. He stood watching me and giggling. He walked to the door and was about to leave when I sounded my warning again. "Don't. You. Ever. Scare. Me. Like. That. Again!" I emphasized every word. "I don't want my ears removed, so of course I won't." He assured me then slipped through the door, but not before blowing me a kiss which I caught with a grin on my face. See? He was just so adorable when he wasn't been a bully. I'd drifted off to sleep when the voices came: the disadvantages of being a light sleeper. " Shh, careful we might wake them up." I heard a strange voice whispered outside my room door. "I told you, everyone's asleep babe," Another voice said. It sounded familiar, and It was indeed. Sia. It couldn't be, she wouldn't dare. "Let's go into my room already." Her voice came again. Certain she was the one, I stood up from my bed, strolled to the door, and cracked it open a bit to peak. Blast! It was Sia and a boy, sneaking behind her. They were headed towards her room. "Are you going to come or not?" She asked the mysterious boy—whose face I still hadn't seen—when he stopped unsure. "How are you so comfortable doing this?" She giggled shyly "Oh Love!" Did I hear correctly or did my Sia sound smitten? Before I could process it all in, they disappeared into Sia's room. Into Sia's room. Sia and a boy in her room. Alone. I hated been paranoid or bothered about it, she wasn't a child and could do whatever she wanted. But right under dad's roof? How could she even be so comfortable turning our father's house into a hotel when she knew better? My dad had strict rules in cases like this. The last time Dawn did the exact thing, it had rained anger from both him and my mum and he wasn't even a kid then. He'd gotten his apartment after that but still couldn't stay away from Barbson's mansion. No, no. Sia didn't even have a job or an apartment to fall back on, and it was too early for me to start interceding on her behalf. The only thing I could do was stop her because if our parents heard as much as a sound, I'd be in my room for days, avoiding seeing them in their wrath. I wasn't going to let it happen. Should my parents find out, it would be trouble for us —even if we weren't allied. I went back into my room and began to pace back and forth. Just what are you worrying yourself about, De!? Your sister could do whatever she pleases I heard a voice say, searched for the source of the voice, and boom, it was in my head! Well, I didn't care that my subconscious didn't favor me in situations like this. She could shut the hell up. Shut up yourself. Your sister isn't as fucked up as you, stuffed up ass! "You'll need to stop it yourself," I whispered to no one. Ignoring the voice in my head, I stepped outside my room and made my way to Sia's. I raised my hand to knock on Sia's door only to drop it back down when I heard the moans already began. "Kiss me," I heard Sia rasp. And then pants and moans...and more moans. I couldn't tell who's voice was whose. Their voices were hoarse, and if I didn't stop this now, she'd face My dad or worse uncle Jay, he hammers mostly on immorality while my dad hammers on having some decency and not doing it under his roof. I knew it couldn't be good, especially with how loud their moans were getting and without any caution. I raised my hand and knocked quietly on the door. The second time I knocked loud enough for them to hear. I was being careful, even though I knew I was the only light sleeper in the house. Knock. No answer. Knock. Silence. I raised my hand to knock again but stopped when I heard her answer. " I'm coming. Just what could anyone be doing up at the..." She trailed when she saw it was me. She stood at the entrance of the opened door and continued staring at me, with a mighty shock on her face. She had to be. I was known to be the one who knew what happened in the dark. They'd mock me about how scared I was about the dark and then after concluding with a proverb, about how who knows about the dark doesn't go in it. "Dei." It came out of her like a whisper. "Yes, Sia." I tilted my head to the side, letting it sink in. "Dei, very light sleeper." I couldn't help being sarcastic which made her eyes grow wider as the realization hit her. "W-what are you d-doing not asleep?" She stuttered, lowering her gaze. "Hmm. I was." I shrugged then feigned a yawn. "I was sleeping, but something woke up and I thought, why not have a chat?" It was partly true. The look on her face told a million no, so I continued prying. "Can I?" She stood there staring at me. I stared back. She stared back. "Come in, I mean." I completed my sentence from earlier. "N-no!" She stuttered in a rush. "Are you hiding anything? Why are you nervous?" I asked giving her a knowing look. "Me? Nervous? You must be hallucinating. It's just too late for a chat and I..." She feigned a yawn herself. "And all I want to do is sleep." I made a sound at the back of my throat, then snickered when she gave me an uncertain look. "You should know better. I know what goes on in the dark, Si. Especially when it's happening right under my nose. Away from my eyes but, so close to my ears." "If you're going to get down on it, then right here." I pointed to her room. "Isn't very appropriate. Y'know how dad gets when it comes to things like this, and mum's just as worse." Avoiding her nervous gaze, I chided, careful not to sound like an annoying big sister. I cupped her face, brushed my lips on her cheeks, and walked away. She stood there, gawking at me as I retreated into my room.
