William Zhan fell into silence. The person who had scratched Steven Lu's car earlier was his eldest sister, whom he had never met.
"Mr. Zhan, it's very late. I'll go back to my room to rest first," Mila Hai said, her mood affected by the uncertainty despite comforting her sister.
She spoke to William Zhan and went back to her room. William Zhan was left pondering. She'll arrange those flowers When she sees them on the balcony tomorrow morning. Yet, he felt like he had done something good and was anticipating praise from her.
"Mr. Zhan," the door opened again, and Mila Hai stood at her room's doorway, asking him, "Did you buy the washing machine? How much did it cost?"
"The two washing machines cost a total of $7,000."
Mila Hai compared the washing machines at her sister's house and found the price reasonable, so she didn't comment further.
"Mila Hai," William Zhan halted her when she was about to close the door again.
"Your sister's problem can be solved. If you don't have enough money, just tell me, and I can lend some to your sister."
Mila Hai expressed her gratitude, "Mr. Zhan, thank you. When the repair costs from the other party are known, we'll see if the money we've gathered is enough for compensation. If not, I'll borrow some more from you on behalf of my sister."
The newlyweds, only married for a few days, were still getting to know each other, but Mila Hai was genuinely grateful for his willingness to lend money when her sister was in trouble.
"Well, it's very late. You should go and rest. Don't think too much. There will be a way to solve this."
"You too. Good night."
Mila Hai bid him good night and went back to her room. William Zhan sat in the hall for a while, then returned to his room.
Once the door was closed, he took out his phone and called Steven Lu.
"Steven, are you asleep?"
Steven Lu smiled and said, "How is that possible? I basically don't go to bed until two or three in the morning. What's wrong? Invite me for a drink? Come to my house, and I'll bring out the fine wines I've collected, and we can have a drink."
"What was the cost to repaint your car?"
William Zhan didn't inspect the car, so he wasn't aware of the extent of the scratches on Steven Lu's car.
"The scratches aren't serious; it'll cost only tens of thousands of dollars."
"Didn't you apply for insurance?"
