"Move aside, get the hell out of my way!"
A few minutes later, shouts filled with anger and murderous intent echoed through the air, accompanied by hurried footsteps.
Inside the café, the people resting there became nervous upon hearing the commotion, unable to resist glancing towards the source of the noise.
Aurora and her three companions also heard the shouts. In a state of shock and suspicion, they turned their gaze towards the café entrance, which was forcefully pushed open, revealing four menacing men brandishing blades rushing in.
Witnessing this threatening scene, the café staff immediately retreated behind the cash register, cowering within the counter.
Aurora and Riley were equally startled. They were sheltered individuals who hadn't experienced many setbacks, and Lu City rarely encountered violent incidents. It was their first time witnessing someone wielding a knife and barging in, which made them feel extremely afraid.
The four knife-wielding men swept their gazes across the café before settling on Aurora and Riley's table.
They charged straight towards them, and Mason, the leader of the Sanda Club, who possessed some martial arts skills, quickly stood up and delivered a whip kick towards the foremost burly man.
Adrian, an athletic student with excellent reflexes, took a step forward and aimed a strike at another man's temple.
"Clack!"
Mason's kick was swift, but he didn't expect the man to suddenly grab hold of his ankle just as he was about to strike.
"What a pathetic display of martial arts. How dare you embarrass yourself with such rubbish skills? Get lost!"
The scar-faced man at the front, with a several-centimeter-long scar on his face, sneered and thrust the handle of his knife, colliding with Mason's lower abdomen.
Mason felt his internals churn, falling to his knees and involuntarily spitting out bile.
He never anticipated that his opponent would be so formidable, easily defeating him with just one move.
Although Mason practiced Sanda, it was mainly for competitive purposes and lacked real-life combat experience. How could he be a match for these ruthless thugs, who had taken multiple lives with their hands?
Adrian fared even worse. With just a casual kick from the other man, he was sent rolling to the side, unable to get up for quite some time, lying on the ground moaning in pain.
Aurora and Riley were completely terrified, paralyzed with fear. They couldn't even scream as two burly men held knives against their necks.
A commotion erupted at the entrance, and over ten security guards, dressed in uniforms, rushed in.
Each of them wielded electric batons, and several even carried firearms, tightly encircling the café entrance.
"Please don't act recklessly. If you want money, I can give it to you. Just don't harm them!" Mason, who had just recovered, pleaded with the scar-faced men when he saw Aurora and Riley being held hostage.
"Shut up! We're trapped here and can't escape. Why would we need money? If you waste any more of my time with your nonsense, I'll cut you down!" The scar-faced man retorted, deliberately gesturing with the knife in his hand to frighten Mason, who shrank back in panic.
On the other hand, Adrian remained silent, ceasing his moans, fearing that his voice might provoke the captors further.
In this critical moment, Aurora, who had received long-term education, managed to maintain her composure.
She saw Mason , who had always been very caring and even willing to reveal his innermost thoughts to her, now looking helpless and shrinking in a corner, which greatly disappointed her.
Feeling Aurora's gaze on him, Mason dared not meet her eyes and could only turn his head away.
"Everyone, please, please, don't kill me. I'll do anything you want, just don't kill me!"Riley pleaded desperately, almost collapsing in fear. Tears streamed down her face as she kept begging.
"Don't be afraid, little girl!" The kidnapper who held her licked his knife and said, "We just robbed the jewelry store upstairs and got cornered by the security guards. We only need you to be temporary hostages to help us leave the building. After that, we'll let you go, hehe!"
After speaking, he let out a sinister laugh.
His wicked laughter sent chills down Riley's spine. She didn't believe a word he said!
Aurora tried hard to remain calm. In such a situation, she knew she had to stay composed.
Inadvertently, she caught a glimpse of Jonathan sitting at the innermost table.
She happened to catch sight of Jonathan, who was sitting at the farthest table.
"Is this guy stupid or something?" she thought to herself.
At this moment, Jonathan was leisurely sipping his coffee, seemingly unaware of what was happening here, which frustrated her.
"Listen up, everyone at the entrance! We have two students as hostages now. I'll count to ten, and if you don't clear a path for us, I'll kill one of them first!" The scar-faced man's voice boomed towards the entrance, while the security guards glanced at each other, feeling anxious. Although they had already called the police, who would arrive soon, they couldn't afford to be careless. If one misstep led to loss of life, none of them would be able to bear the responsibility.
After careful consideration, they decided to step aside first to ensure the safety of Aurora and Riley.
"Hey, let's take them out!"
The scar-faced man waved his hand, and his two companions moved to take Aurora and Riley away.
Aurora's heart sank. She knew that once they left, it would likely be a point of no return. The chances of them being released would be almost zero. However, with a knife at her throat, she didn't dare to resist.
Just as she was becoming desperate, a voice suddenly came from beside them.
"What are you four up to? I'm not interested in interfering!"
"But if you want to leave here unharmed, immediately release her!"
Aurora was shocked. The one who spoke up was Jonathan.
Jonathan's sudden voice left everyone present stunned.
They all turned to look, and Jonathan still had his back to them, sipping his coffee. However, everyone knew that the voice came from his direction.
Aurora was deeply moved. In this critical moment, her boyfriend Adrian had remained silent, and her pursuer Mason had cowered in a corner, afraid to say a word. Yet, it was Jonathan, whom she looked down upon, who stood up.
While she was touched, she was also worried. These four individuals were extremely fierce, exuding a murderous intent. They probably had taken several lives each. Even Mason, who had trained in Sanda for years, was no match for them. Would it make any difference for Jonathan to step forward now?
"Kid, are you the one talking?"
The scar-faced leader licked his lips, his words filled with malice.
Jonathan ignored the scar-faced leader's threat, slowly finishing his coffee and then placing the cup down. He stood up, facing their direction.
"Yes, it's me!"
He raised his finger, pointing at Aurora.
"Release her. As for the others, I don't care what you do. But she, you won't take her away!"
"I'll give you ten seconds to consider. Accept my proposal and leave, or I'll personally deal with all of you."
His tone was indifferent, as if he were describing something ordinary.
Upon hearing this, everyone was stunned, their expressions varied. They all had the same thought in their minds.
"This guy, is he crazy?"
