No one expected Fanix to be so arrogant.
He either didn't care about his life anymore or didn't know what fear was.
No, it was definitely the former.
Zephyr had encountered many arrogant individuals in Norston, but none had ever spoken to him like Fanix did.
"It seems you truly aren't afraid of death. In that case, I'll gladly oblige."
Zephyr took the phone and began dialing a number.
Even before the call connected, he pointed at Fanix, still full of defiance.
"I'll give you one more chance. When the Doyle family arrives, you'll likely be carried out of here in pieces. I can see you're quite courageous, so it'd be a pity just to kill you."
"Enough with the nonsense. You'd better call every last member of the Doyle family over here. That way, I won't have to waste my energy tracking them down. We can settle this all at once," Fanix replied, his voice calm and steady.
He sat down slowly, placing his hands on his knees, his posture as unwavering as a mountain.
"Fine, let's see how long you can keep this up."
Zephyr was thoroughly enraged now.
He quickly completed his call, brief but urgent, requesting immediate backup from the Doyle family. They were already on their way.
"Since the Doyle family has made their stance clear, I'm curious to hear what the Knapp family has to say."
Fanix's gaze shifted to the representative of the Knapp family, his piercing eyes exuding an almost palpable pressure.
the Knapp family had sent a young woman, Zelena Knapp, their third daughter. She was about twenty, with a mischievous look in her bright, lively eyes. Despite the tension, she didn't seem the least bit afraid of Fanix.
"Why are you being so grumpy? I don't even know what this is all about, but I'm telling you now, if you bully me, I'll cry."
Zelena's tone was more playful than serious.
Her attitude was a blatant embarrassment to the four families, particularly to Zephyr, who was nearly beside himself with anger. He nudged Zelena.
"Zelena, don't humor him! This brute's not someone to be taken lightly. Can you at least help us maintain our dignity?"
"How? In that case, I'm not afraid of you, Fanix. If you've got the guts, how about we fight?" Zelena said, her tone a mix of challenge and nonchalance.
But to Fanix, it was nothing more than fancy but ineffective moves.
"I don't fight women. Since that's the case, you can leave. Don't bother me again," Fanix said, waving his hand dismissively.
The others secretly envied Zelena.
After all, Fanix, in his madness, could kill them all with just a flick of his hand.
Even though reinforcements were on their way, who knew when they would arrive?
If they accidentally provoked Fanix, there was no guarantee they'd make it out alive.
Suddenly, with a crisp sound, Zelena unexpectedly punched Fanix from behind.
"I'm not leaving! Are you underestimating me? I've had some training, you know! If you want to bully others, you'd better check with me first!"
Everyone tensed up. The moment Fanix turned around, that familiar look in his eyes sent chills down their spines.
It's over, many people thought, secretly breaking into a cold sweat for Zelena.
She was so delicate; Fanix could probably kill her with just one finger.
"What are you doing?" Fanix asked coldly.
"Who are you trying to scare? I'm not afraid of you! Come on!" Zelena said, taking another swing at Fanix.
Some people already covered their eyes, unable to bear watching, imagining Zelena being sent flying, head smashed and bleeding.
But strangely, she managed to hit Fanix again.
Tonight, she was the only one who had been able to land a hit on Fanix. Wasn't this just asking for death?
"Get back here," Zephyr said nervously.
Even though he wasn't afraid of Fanix, confident in the power of the Doyle family, now wasn't the time to be rash.
"Hmph, Fanix, you're being too much! You can't treat people like this," Zelena said as she grabbed Fanix's arm and bit him.
Fanix's anger flared, but he didn't strike her. Instead, he grabbed her by the throat, though he didn't squeeze hard. Even so, Zelena immediately found it hard to breathe, her face turning bright red.
She widened her eyes, struggling to say something, but no sound came out.
Fanix seemed to understand the words she mouthed and vaguely recalled something from the past.
"Do I know you?" Fanix frowned slightly.
A few tears slipped from Zelena's eyes.
"Don't hurt her! Let her go! She's still young. How can you be so cruel, you monster!" Zephyr was frantic.
The others also shouted, clearly unwilling to witness this scene.
She was just a young woman, barely an adult, with her whole life ahead of her. How could it all be ruined now?
In their eyes, Fanix had become an unforgivable villain.
"Let go of Miss Zelena, or we'll kill you!" someone shouted.
Suddenly, a large group of about thirty people rushed in from outside, jumping out of several cars, brandishing clubs, and quickly surrounding Fanix.
"Finally, they're here," Fanix said, releasing Zelena and pushing her aside.
Zephyr immediately rushed over to support her.
Seeing Zelena coughing uncontrollably, Zephyr erupted in fury.
"Listen up, everyone! I want him dead before he can step out of the door!"
With so many people, it would only take one kick from each to crush Fanix into an unrecognizable pulp.
In fact, everyone else was thinking the same thing.
They had been holding in their anger, and now, finally, this arrogant Fanix was about to be taught a lesson.
Those who dared to act so arrogantly in front of the four great families—Dyson, Chase, Knapp, and Doyle families—would inevitably meet a fate worse than death, their bodies never to be found.
Gradually, the others began to stand up straighter, some even moving closer, eager to witness how Fanix would be tortured.
"I'll say this only once. You all have families; it would be best if you went home to be with them. I know this from personal experience. Don't do something you'll regret later," Fanix said, as calm and unmovable as a mountain, still able to speak with ease.
But they continued to advance.
"If you won't listen to me, then there's nothing more I can do. This is the path you've chosen; you'll have to face the consequences."
As soon as he finished speaking, Fanix's figure blurred, and his hands shot out.
He grabbed two men by their heads, smashing them together. As their bodies fell limply to the ground, lifeless, Fanix swiftly moved through the crowd—kicking, throwing, stomping—until a dozen more lay incapacitated, unable to move.
The entire process happened in a flash, a seamless blur of motion like lightning.
It was terrifying. The remaining men gasped, momentarily frozen, unsure of what to do next.
Fanix surveyed the area with a slight smile.
"Who's next? Come on."
The chilling grin seemed to be a call from death itself.
Cold sweat began to trickle down everyone's foreheads, and no one dared to take another step closer.
Suddenly, an eerie silence fell over the scene.
Fanix calmly returned to his seat and continued drinking his coffee.
The outcome was clear to everyone present.
Even the strongest among them, the Doyle family members, had been effortlessly defeated by Fanix.
Now, transitioning from arrogance and defiance to fear, they began to wonder about Fanix's true identity.
He was clearly not someone they could have imagined. Today, they had witnessed something beyond their understanding.
The silence was finally broken by a commanding voice.
"Stop! Who's causing trouble here?"
Everyone turned to see a group of police officers arriving on the scene.
And the rain had finally stopped.
The occasional gust of wind was cold and biting.
"It's Captain Sandy! Thank goodness you're here!" someone shouted.
Seeing him as their savior, the members of the Dyson, Chase, Knapp, and Doyle families quickly gathered around Captain Sandy, all pointing accusingly at Fanix.
