"Edmund, why are you here meddling instead of preparing for your wife's funeral and getting ready to guard her grave?"
Dr. Jensen also gave Edmund a cold look.
As Dr. Jensen and Sauterne humiliating Edmund, Portia's expression slightly changed.
It was she who had invited Edmund to treat Mr. Jadon's illness. Even if the Jensen family was a renowned medical family, such belittlement was inappropriate.
As she was considering whether to retaliate or not, Edmund had already addressed Dr. Jensen and Sauterne, "Both of you seem to think too highly of yourselves, looking down on everything. Treating and saving lives depend on one's ability, not on fame or by demeaning others. Be careful not to end up with a slapped face. You can try treating Mr. Jadon first, and if you fail, I'll take over."
He had noticed that besides him, Portia, Mr. Hill, Sauterne, and Dr. Jensen, there was actually another person in the living room.
This person was sitting behind the black thick curtains. With his clairvoyant ability, he naturally saw this person and knew of his illness.
This person was undoubtedly Mr. Jadon, but Sauterne probably hadn't noticed him.
Mr. Jadon's body was covered in scars, some caused by firearms and others by cold weapons, looking densely packed like his body was covered in earthworms, which was quite terrifying.
In this peaceful era, for a person to be injured to such an extent, Edmund couldn't help but wonder what kind of person Mr. Jadon was, whether he was good or evil.
"What a saying, 'each depends on their ability.' It seems you want to compete in medical skills with me and my granddaughter?"
Dr. Jensen didn't expect Edmund to speak so boldly and said, " Competing in medicine with me would seem like I am bullying the young with my age. Let Sauterne compete with you, open your eyes to what real medical skill is."
"Fine for me," Edmund said nonchalantly.
"If we are to compete, there should be stakes."
Sauterne said proudly, "If I win, you leave this place immediately. If your medical skills surpass mine, I'm willing to serve you as a slave."
"Are you sure you want to compete in medicine with me? Being a slave means warming my bed, even carrying my shoes," Edmund said. "You can still back out now!"
Sauterne had said she wasn't even qualified to carry shoes for Emerion, and now that she was bringing humiliation upon herself, he didn't mind at all!
"You..." Sauterne was instantly furious, staring at Edmund, "I would lose to you? If you keep spouting nonsense, I'll cripple you!"
She was proficient in acupuncture, had cultivated genuine energy, and demonstrated remarkable proficiency in combat.
Edmund, however, was not intimidated and instead provoked her, "This stake was your idea, don't blame others. The renowned medical lady of the Jensen family, you wouldn't dare to compete, would you?"
"Fine, if I lose, you can ask me to do anything. However, if you lose, crawl out from this place. If you don't crawl, I will break your legs."
Sauterne was provoked by Edmund's words and coldly spoke to him, then turned to Mr. Hill, "Please bring Mr. Jadon here now."
"Dr. Jensen, this..."
Mr. Hill seemed to be in a difficult position, apparently hoping that Dr. Jensen himself would take action, especially since they had paid millions in consultation fees to get Dr. Jensen to come.
"Mr. Hill, my granddaughter has already learned ninety percent of my skills. You can rest assured, there are hardly any diseases she can't cure in this world," Dr. Jensen said after taking a sip of tea.
"Dr. Jensen, let's not boast anymore. You couldn't cure my wife's illness, let alone Sauterne. Moreover, Mr. Jadon is already here, behind the curtain, and Sauterne is completely unaware. The Jensen family specializes in traditional medicine, and 'listening' is one of the basic skills, which involves listening to the patient's breathing. It seems that Sauterne is lacking even in basic skills," Edmund said with a smile.
Sauterne disbelievingly said, "There's nobody behind the curtain."
"I won't argue with you. Just ask Mr. Hill, and you'll know," Edmund said calmly.
"Miss Jensen, Mr. Jadon is indeed already behind the curtain. However, Mr. Jadon prefers not to reveal his identity and requests that you diagnose him through the curtain," Mr. Hill said after glancing at Edmund.
Initially, he hadn't taken Edmund seriously, but he was greatly surprised when Edmund noticed Mr. Jadon sitting behind the curtain, given that Mr. Jadon was a master at concealing his presence, which ordinary people could not detect.
Dr. Jensen and Sauterne's expressions changed slightly upon hearing this, as they had not noticed Mr. Jadon's presence either.
But after Sauterne was slapped in the face, she still put on a disdainful attitude and said, "Edmund, you are nothing but astonishingly good at listening. You can't possibly beat me in medical skills."
"Miss Jensen, to be honest, Edmund has already taken the lead," Portia said in a timely manner.
She originally did not want to offend Dr. Jensen and Sauterne, as it was not easy for Mr. Jadon to invite these two. However, for the sake of Edmund, she could no longer care about that.
Hearing Portia's words, Edmund knew this beautiful CEO was protecting him and felt a warmth in his heart.
Mr. Hill also politely invited Edmund to sit down and served him tea.
Now, he did not offend Edmund, nor did he offend Dr. Jensen and Sauterne, but watched the two compete in medical skills.
"Is there actually someone who thinks Edmund can beat me?"
Sauterne glanced at Portia and sneered, "Diagnosing behind a curtain, that's too simple. I can perform thread pulse diagnosis without even needing to touch Mr. Jadon. Today, I will let you all witness it."
She opened her medicine box, took out six threads, and instructed Mr. Hill, "Tie these six threads to Mr. Jadon's left and right hands at the inch, pass, and cubit pulses, then pull the threads through the curtain."
She could have simply asked Mr. Jadon to extend his hand from behind the curtain for a direct pulse diagnosis, but she insisted on performing a thread pulse diagnosis to showcase her superior medical skills.
Mr. Hill did everything as instructed.
Sauterne sat on the sofa, her index finger constantly vibrating on the threads rhythmically, like playing a zither, and the threads also vibrated at a high frequency, emitting a buzzing sound.
This was, of course, the special technique of thread pulse diagnosis, quite sophisticated.
In less than a minute, Sauterne said, "Mr. Jadon has sustained an internal injury, injuring his heart meridian and the Eight Meridians. With nine acupuncture treatments using the Jensen family's acupuncture method and supplemented with herbal medicine, he can be cured."
"Your diagnosis is not accurate at all. It seems that your thread pulse diagnosis is just a gimmick," Edmund said indifferently.
"Do you, a kid just out of jail, dare to question me?" Sauterne sneered. "Then, you diagnose the pulse and tell me what illness Mr. Jadon is suffering from?"
"Mr. Jadon's heart meridian is indeed injured, but it's mainly due to poisoning, which changes unpredictably and moves through the meridians in the body, damaging each meridian. Even if the poison is removed, he will be poisoned again in a few hours. Mr. Jadon has been repeatedly poisoned, and his meridians have been increasingly damaged for about half a month now," Edmund said directly.
"You haven't even diagnosed Mr. Jadon's pulse, and you're just spouting nonsense?" Dr. Jensen became angry.
"Dr. Jensen, you're getting senile. Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes looking, listening, asking, and touching. Now that we can't see Mr. Jadon, 'looking' is definitely not possible, but we can 'listen,' which is to hear the breath. Through this, I have fully understood Mr. Jadon's condition," Edmund said with a smile. "If you don't believe it, you can diagnose Mr. Jadon's pulse yourself and then ask about his condition. Wouldn't that be clear?"
Dr. Jensen, berated by Edmund, nearly spat blood.
He immediately had Mr. Jadon extend his hand through the curtain and diagnosed his pulse.
But after a long time of pulse diagnosis, he remained silent.
"Grandpa, Edmund is definitely talking nonsense, right?" Sauterne couldn't help but ask.
Dr. Jensen sighed, "Mr. Jadon's condition is indeed mainly due to poisoning. Moreover, the toxicity is constantly changing. This is indeed an unheard situation."
Although he was protective of his own, being considered a beacon of medical science, he still had some integrity and did not lie.
Sauterne's face turned pale. She wanted to say something but couldn't, as she dared not question her grandfather's diagnosis.
"Sauterne, can you admit defeat now?"
Edmund said with a smile, "In the future, I will have one more maid. I won't have to worry about having no one to mop the floor, do laundry, or even warm the bed."
