Edmund asked Sauterne to be a maid, originally intending to crush the woman's arrogance and vent his humiliation. However, unexpectedly, she became so proactive.
Sauterne's beauty and figure were top-notch. To say that he felt nothing after seeing those explosive photos was impossible.
"Do you really want me to come over? If I do and you still keep a stern face, like an iceberg that never melts, then it's pointless. I have high standards for a maid." After admiring the photos for a long time, Edmund replied with a message.
"Mr. Dawson, I can also be passionate. Hurry over, a surprise is waiting for you," Sauterne directly replied with a voice message, her tone coquettish.
She thought Edmund must be moved.
"It seems you really have the potential to be a maid, but sorry, I have to accompany my wife at home tonight, I don't have time to come over. Let's talk about it another day." Edmund replied with a message and didn't bother with Sauterne anymore.
Meanwhile, the taxi had already arrived at the entrance of the Conner family's villa, and he went home directly.
...
"Madam has already humbly asked you to come over, yet you remain unmoved. Do I really have no attraction to you compared to Merlot?"
"Wait for it, when you fall at the hem of my skirt, when your heart is captured by me, I will torture you well!"
Inside a large villa in the development area of Heavenhill City, Sauterne, dressed as a maid, got up from the ground, almost smashing her phone in anger.
In Greenveile City, she was already a well-known beauty. Many young talents pursued her, and as an icy beauty, a mere gesture from her could drive these men almost to madness.
To cure her illness, she had to use all her tricks to hook Edmund. However, unexpectedly, it was all in vain, making her extremely annoyed.
At this time, Edmund had already returned to the Conner family's villa.
Upon entering, he discovered that there was no one in the villa, not just his parents-in-law Cathan and Rose, but also his wife Merlot was not there.
His first thought was that something had happened.
He immediately called Merlot.
The call connected quickly, but there was a lot of noise on the other side, with people arguing about something.
"Wife, why aren't you at home?" Edmund asked.
"Something happened to our hotel... Ah... What are you doing..." Merlot only spoke a sentence, followed by a scream, and then the phone call was disconnected.
Edmund frowned, knowing that someone had snatched Merlot's phone and forcibly hung up.
When he called back, no one answered.
"Who dares to bully my wife?" Edmund became angry and worried.
Without any hesitation, he left the villa, hailed a taxi, and directly told the driver, "I'll give you a hundred dollars, drive me to the Grand Hotel as fast as you can!"
The Grand Hotel, owned by Cathan and Rose, is a four-star hotel. Its scale and grade are considered decent in Heavenhill City. The hotel was previously managed by Rose, but now, since Cathan had left the Conner corporation, he also participated in managing the hotel.
The taxi sped through the streets, and ten minutes later, Edmund arrived at the Grand Hotel.
As he entered the hotel's main entrance, he saw a crowd gathered in the lobby.
A scar-faced man and a blonde were arguing with Merlot, Cathan, and Rose, surrounded by hotel guests who were there to watch the excitement.
And in the scar-faced man's hand was Merlot's phone.
Clearly, the call Edmund made to Merlot was intercepted by this scar-faced man.
Edmund only needed to listen briefly to understand what had happened.
Originally, the man with the scar on his face and the blond man came to stay at the hotel tonight. About ten minutes after checking in, they came to the front desk to complain, claiming the hotel's hygiene was substandard, with cockroaches and mice in the room. Moreover, they even brought the cockroaches and mice to the hotel lobby, demanding a compensation of one hundred thousand dollars, otherwise, they threatened to cause a scene leading to the hotel's closure.
The blond man was dragging a suitcase, saying he would leave after receiving the money.
Edmund wanted to know what was inside the suitcase, so he immediately activated his celestial eye to see through it.
To his discovery, aside from some clothes, the suitcase also contained five dead mice and a box of dead cockroaches, sealed in plastic bags.
He instantly understood that these two were deliberately causing trouble. The cockroaches and mice were brought by them, and it wasn't an issue with the hotel's cleanliness.
Moreover, demanding a compensation of one hundred thousand dollars right off the bat, these two were undoubtedly not ordinary troublemakers. They must have had some backing. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so audacious.
Their actions caused a stir among the other hotel guests. Although they hadn't noticed anything unclean about the hotel, would also demand compensation once the hotel paid these two.
Edmund squeezed through the crowd of onlookers, approached the man with the scar, and snatched back Merlot's phone.
"Stealing my stuff, are you looking for death?" After the scar-faced man recovered, he pointed at Edmund and cursed.
The scar on his face was deep and intimidating.
"What do you mean 'your stuff'? This phone belongs to my wife. As for the one hundred thousand dollars you're demanding today, I'll give it to you," Edmund said with a smile.
"Are you Edmund? The one who's planning to guard Merlot's grave in a few days? You think you can produce a hundred thousand dollars?"
The scar-faced man wasn't concerned about Edmund taking Merlot's phone anymore, as his main goal was to extort money and cause trouble.
"Yes, I'm Edmund. I'm not short of money. A hundred thousand dollars is a small matter to me. However, there's always a right and wrong to every issue. If it's the hotel's fault, I'll compensate you. But if you're making unfounded accusations, then I'm sorry, you'll have to face the consequences," Edmund replied calmly.
However, Edmund's words made Cathan and Sherry very anxious.
Merlot immediately came to his side and whispered, "Why... why are you here? What are you promising recklessly? This will mess things up!"
Edmund didn't explain much, simply saying, "Wife, let me handle this."
At that moment, a well-dressed young man in a suit squeezed through the crowd.
This person was none other than Brentton, the son of Arend, Merlot's uncle.
Cathan, Sherry, and Merlot all felt uneasy, as Brentton's appearance was no coincidence.
"Edmund, do we still need to discuss right and wrong in this matter? My two friends found mice and cockroaches in their hotel room, and the evidence is solid. Just one call to the health bureau, and the hotel could be shut down. I think it's best for you to persuade your father-in-law, mother-in-law, and my friends to settle this privately. Make a big issue small. Otherwise, it's you who will suffer."
As expected, upon Brentton's arrival, he spoke up for the scar-faced man and the blond man.
"Brentton, what are you doing? Don't be a turncoat," Merlot said anxiously.
"You few are no longer considered part of my Conner family. Don't delude yourselves with familial ties. In matters of principle and justice, such sentiments don't apply. Your hotel's hygiene issue isn't just about giving my two friends an explanation, but also to all the guests here, and even to society at large," Brentton said with a righteous demeanor.
This guy, only twenty-two years old and a year younger than Merlot, was already a typical sly fox, full of cunning schemes.
"Right, the hotel must give us an explanation."
"Refund, compensate..."
"We don't ask for a hundred thousand dollars, but ten times the room fee seems reasonable, right?"
Encouraged by Brentton, many of the onlookers started shouting.
Edmund scanned the surroundings and immediately knew that these agitators were arranged by Brentton.
But the real guests were easily swayed, and many started to make a fuss too, as no one could tolerate mice and cockroaches in their hotel rooms.
The situation escalated, leaving Cathan, Sherry, and Merlot completely flustered!
Edmund knew he couldn't wait any longer and had to act decisively.
He approached the blond man, snatched his suitcase.
"What are you doing?" the blond man exclaimed in shock.
"What am I doing? Of course, I am going to reveal the truth to everyone. Let's see what both you and Brentton have conspired to do!" Edmund said with a cold laugh, using his power to rip open the snatched suitcase.
