At that moment, many of the new entry disciples were gradually arriving at the Martial Hall, their faces filled with excitement.
Noah followed a group of them to the entrance.
Standing at the entrance, Elder Giles surveyed the neatly assembled disciples and spoke up, "Starting today, you will receive a Meridian Opening Pill from the Martial Hall every month for a year until you successfully open your meridians."
"After receiving the pill, you will consume it here and take part in the opening ceremony. Anyone who successfully opens their meridians today will have the opportunity to borrow a high-grade human-tier martial technique from the Martial Skill Pavilion to cultivate for six months."
Upon hearing this, many of the entry disciples' eyes shone with fervor.
Martial techniques were categorized into various grades, from low to high: Human Tier, Yellow Tier, Mystique Tier, Earth Tier, Heaven Tier, and beyond. Each tier was further divided into low, middle, and high grades.
Most of the disciples came from clans that struggled to access high-grade human-tier techniques.
If they succeeded in opening their meridians today, they would be able to borrow one of these high-grade techniques, which, once mastered, would drastically boost their combat abilities.
"Today, no matter what, I have to open my meridian!"
"I have a fifth-grade bloodline; I'm bound to succeed in opening my meridian!"
The disciples were buzzing with anticipation.
Elder Giles then brought out a massive wooden box from inside the Martial Hall. Even before it was opened, a fragrant herbal aroma wafted through the air.
As he opened the box, the contents were revealed—pills that resembled pearls, exuding a strong medicinal fragrance. These were the Meridian Opening Pills.
"It is said that without opening a meridian, it's difficult for demons to take form. Without opening a meridian, it's hard for humans to cultivate. Only when the meridians within you are open will you be qualified to cultivate!" Elder Giles announced. "Now, line up to receive your pill, sit down in the square, and use it to gain insights into yourselves."
Following his instructions, all the disciples lined up to collect their pills, then sat down in the square to prepare for the ceremony.
Noah received his Meridian Opening Pill and followed the others to the square.
In the distance, Sandra watched Noah with a slight smile, feeling a spark of anticipation.
If a disciple with a trash-grade bloodline could open his meridian, it would be enough to shock all of Cloud Country.
But just as this thought crossed her mind, a loud voice suddenly rang out from afar.
"Everyone, I'm going to auction off my Meridian Opening Pill! The highest bidder wins! Starting price: ten thousand copper coins, with each bid increasing by no less than ten thousand!"
Noah's voice echoed through the area.
In an instant, the whole crowd was stunned.
The entry disciples were shocked.
Elder Giles was taken aback.
Sandra was utterly astonished.
Noah actually intended to auction off the pill he had just received, and at such a high starting price.
"Hmph! A trash truly can't be educated. Not only is he cursed with a trash-grade bloodline, but he has the audacity to auction off a Meridian Opening Pill!" Sandra fumed, grumbling to herself as she turned to leave. The last bit of goodwill she had for Noah disappeared entirely.
It would be better to pretend this trash disciple didn't even exist.
The elders watching from the shadows were just as stunned. On the very first day as a new disciple, Noah was auctioning off his Meridian Opening Pill in front of everyone—a first in the history of the sect.
If he were a genius with a sixth-grade bloodline, it might be understandable; even without the pill, he could probably open his meridian quickly.
But he was deemed a failure, possessing not even a first-grade bloodline—a trash-grade bloodline at that.
Elder Giles, standing at the entrance of the Martial Hall, watched Noah raise the pill for auction and was furious. "Noah, with your trash-grade bloodline, you dare auction off the pill you just received? This is a clear sign of your lack of ambition! Are you showing disrespect to the sect and your master?"
Noah quickly shook his head and explained, "I dare not! I mean no disrespect to the sect or my master!"
"Disrespect?!" Elder Giles fumed. "What do the 'Disciples' Rules' say? Once you become a disciple of the Clyde Sect, you must strive to cultivate! No matter how untalented you are, as long as you're willing to work hard, you can still become a powerful martial artist. Even if your chances of opening a meridian are slim, you must never give up!"
"Elder Giles, you've misunderstood," Noah replied calmly. "I'm auctioning the pill because I've already opened my meridian!"
For a moment, Elder Giles trembled with rage. "Nonsense! With your trash-grade bloodline and without taking the Meridian Opening Pill, how could you have opened your meridian? Your master, Sandra, is a prodigy with a seventh-grade bloodline. Even she took a month to open her meridian without the pill. How dare you claim you've already opened yours?"
At this point, not only Elder Giles but also the other disciples thought Noah was delusional.
But Noah remained calm and smiled. "Elder Giles, I truly have opened my meridian. If you don't believe me, please check for yourself."
Seeing Noah's confidence, Elder Giles approached him, placed his palm on Noah's abdomen, and immediately felt a faint wave of energy radiating from it.
"Spiritual energy gathering… you really have opened your meridian?" Elder Giles was utterly shocked, his murky eyes fixed on Noah's face.
This was simply unbelievable.
A disciple with a trash-grade bloodline had actually opened his meridian.
"What? Noah has opened his meridian?"
"Impossible! How could someone with a trash-grade bloodline open their meridian?"
The disciples were in disbelief, struggling to accept the reality.
While they were waiting to use their pills, this disciple, whom they deemed the lowest of the low, had already succeeded.
For a fleeting moment, Elder Giles wondered if Noah had somehow opened his meridian before entering the Clyde Sect. But he quickly dismissed the thought; the testing stone tablet would have detected both bloodline talent and any opened meridians. Noah had opened it after joining the sect.
"Noah, how did you do it?" Elder Giles asked, bewildered.
Prepared for this, Noah replied, "Last night, I had a dream. I met an immortal-looking old man who told me I had the potential of a great emperor. When I woke up, I felt a burning sensation in my abdomen, and suddenly, my meridian was open!"
"Guidance from an immortal?" Elder Giles exclaimed.
Noah nodded. "It seems so."
Elder Giles, still astounded, said, "This must be the legendary guidance from an immortal. Though rare, it's not unheard of. Our sect once had a disciple of modest talent who suddenly opened his meridian. Though his talent was mediocre, he managed to open seven meridians and reach the Spirit Stream Realm."
Then, Elder Giles spoke sternly, "Noah, this is your fortune—a blessing from the heavens. An immortal's gift has allowed you to become a true martial artist. You must work hard in your cultivation and strive to surpass that disciple's achievements!"
If a trash-grade bloodline could reach the Spirit Stream Realm, it would indeed be a miracle.
"I will heed your advice!" Noah respectfully bowed and then asked, "Elder, now that I've opened my meridian, what should I do with the Meridian Opening Pill?"
"Sell it to whomever you wish!" Elder Giles turned away, no longer involving himself in Noah's affairs.
Noah smiled, turning to the crowd of disciples and loudly proclaiming, "Who wants my Meridian Opening Pill? Highest bidder wins!"
The disciples were momentarily stunned but quickly regained their composure, eagerly beginning to bid.
Many came from prominent families in Cloud Country and had no shortage of money. If they could secure the Meridian Opening Pill and open their meridians first, their status within their clans would rise.
Additionally, those who opened their meridians today would have the privilege of borrowing a high-grade human-tier martial technique from the Martial Skill Pavilion.
No matter what, they had to win that pill.
