Yelena's tears streamed down from beneath her blindfold, her fear and despair palpable as she struggled frantically.
"Who are you? Let me go! I'm a student at Jatonville University! If anything happens to me, the school will thoroughly investigate!"
"Investigate? Go ahead, let them. Do you think I'm scared of that?" the tattooed man sneered.
"Slap!"
The man struck Yelena across the face. "I hate being threatened the most. Damn it, I'll show you what a real investigation looks like right now!"
He reached out, his lecherous hand moving toward Yelena's chest.
"Bastard! All of you, die!"
A furious shout suddenly echoed through the air.
Benjamin had arrived!
He descended from the sky on his sword, wasting no time. With a swift movement, he slapped the two men standing guard outside the van.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
The two men were instantly killed!
With one powerful pull, Benjamin tore the van door off its hinges.
Before the tattooed man inside could even react, Benjamin grabbed him and flung him out of the van, smashing him to pieces against the ground.
"Go!"
Benjamin cast a talisman with two fingers. The talisman hit the ground, and a blue flame briefly flickered, instantly incinerating all traces of the three dead men.
But after doing this, Benjamin felt a wave of dizziness, his face pale, a faint sweat breaking out across his forehead.
It wasn't because of the killing; the side effects of using his eye technique were too severe.
Each use consumed enormous mental energy, especially since he had employed it from a thousand meters up in the sky.
"Yelena, are you okay?" Benjamin asked, enduring his discomfort as he helped untie Yelena's bindings and removed her blindfold.
"Get away from me! Don't touch me! I'll call the police!!" Yelena screamed, pushing Benjamin away and flailing blindly in panic.
"Yelena, Yelena..." Benjamin called out, trying to calm her.
"Get lost! Get lost! I'd rather die than let you touch me!" Yelena continued to resist fiercely.
Finally, Benjamin shouted loudly, "Yelena, it's me! Open your eyes and look. I'm Benjamin, your brother!"
Yelena froze at the sound of his name. Slowly, she opened her eyes, focusing on Benjamin's familiar face.
"Benjamin... is it really... you?" she whispered, still in shock.
After carefully studying his features, Yelena finally recognized the brother who had suddenly disappeared four years ago.
She threw herself into his arms, hugging him tightly.
As the saying goes, girls change a lot from childhood to adulthood, growing more beautiful.
When Benjamin left, Yelena was only fourteen. Now, at eighteen, she was in the prime of her beauty.
Holding her like this, Benjamin felt unsure of how to respond.
Even though Yelena and Jasper were both adopted by his parents, they were still considered siblings, and Benjamin knew he had to act appropriately.
"Yelena, are you okay? I can hardly breathe!" Benjamin said, half-jokingly, trying to ease the tension.
"Benjamin..." Yelena reluctantly released him. "Benjamin, what are you doing here? And what happened to them?"
She referred to the men who had captured her.
"They're gone," Benjamin said with a reassuring smile. "I was on my way home when I saw you. But Yelena, what happened? Why did they grab you?"
"I don't know," Yelena replied, shaking her head. "I didn't see their faces. They grabbed me on my way home from school. But, Benjamin, where have you been these past few years?"
"That's a long story," Benjamin began. "These past four years..."
Just as he was about to explain his journey into cultivation, Yelena's phone rang.
"It's Mom!" Yelena exclaimed, quickly answering the call. "Mom!"
"Yelena, why aren't you home yet? Come back quickly. Today is your brother's birthday, and I've prepared all his favorite dishes," came the familiar voice from the other end of the line, causing Benjamin's heart to tighten.
It wasn't hard to tell from her voice that his mother had aged and become weary.
"Mom, I'll be home soon," Yelena replied, choosing not to mention the kidnapping. Instead, she added with a smile, "Mom, I'll bring you a surprise when I get home!"
After hanging up the phone, Yelena checked the GPS to determine their location. "Benjamin, let's go home. Mom will be so happy to see you!"
"Alright," Benjamin agreed, eager to return home as well. He followed Yelena into the van, and they drove off, guided by the GPS.
"Benjamin, how do you think Mom will react when she sees you?" Yelena asked, her voice filled with anticipation.
"I'm not sure," Benjamin replied softly. "Probably similar to how I'm feeling..."
It wasn't long before they arrived.
Yelena and Benjamin got out of the van and stood in front of a dilapidated street lined with old single-story houses.
The area appeared to be on the outskirts of Jatonville. Yelena led Benjamin into an old six-story apartment building, skillfully unlocking the door to their home on the seventh floor.
The apartment, though old, was meticulously organized and clean, with not a speck of dust on the floor.
In the living room, a middle-aged woman wearing an apron was bringing a plate of food from the kitchen and setting it on the dining table, which was already filled with dishes.
The woman's face bore a resemblance to Benjamin's, and she was indeed his mother, Sonya.
Her long hair was tied up simply, but upon closer inspection, there wasn't a single black strand left; it was all snow-white.
Her skin showed signs of aging, her eyes carried a hint of fatigue, and her hands were rough with calluses.
Although she was only in her forties, she looked like a woman in her fifties.
It was hard to imagine how much pain she had endured over the years to go from having a full head of black hair to becoming completely white-haired.
"Yelena, you're back?" Sonya said as she spotted Yelena.
"Hurry inside and eat. I still have to go to work after dinner. I almost forgot to buy a cake for your brother this year."
Benjamin felt a lump in his throat.
From her words, it was clear that she had celebrated his birthday every year, despite his absence.
"Mom, you really should have bought a cake this year. Look who's back!" Yelena said, stepping aside and pulling Benjamin forward.
In an instant, Sonya froze in place, her eyes locking onto Benjamin.
A mother knows her child best. Others might not recognize Benjamin, but she could never mistake her son.
At first glance, she knew the person standing before her was the son she had searched for over the past four years.
There was no doubt in her mind.
Only because Benjamin's image had played in her mind countless times over those years, and she had dreamed of him in her sleep countless times.
"You... you, you..." Tears welled up in Sonya's eyes as she stammered, still struggling to believe it was real.
Benjamin walked over and looked at her closely. "Mom, it's me. I'm Benjamin."
"Benjamin, it really is you. You're back!" Sonya cried, tears of joy streaming down her face.
"Am I dreaming? Benjamin, if this is a dream, please don't wake me up. Just stay with me a little longer."
"Mom, this isn't a dream. It's all real," Benjamin said, holding her rough hands. "I'm back. I'm really back."
