There was an ordinary prefecture-level city called Westford in the central part of Chicia. People on the streets hurried along under the scorching summer sun.
A young man in ragged clothes stood on the rooftop of an unfinished building, looking down at the entire city. There was a smile on his face.
"I'm finally back," he shouted as bitter memories filled his brain.
Perhaps, Ethan Thubron never thought he would be able to return to this planet again in this lifetime.
The enchanting figure that haunted his dreams reappeared in his mind once again as he stared at the scene below. He didn't know how many years had passed on Earth since he left.
Even if a millennium passed, he would return for that promise.
Ethan was exhausted after millennia of battle and slaughter in the starry realms. He passed through endless starry space, traversing innumerable shattered star portals, and even if his soul were to be obliterated now, he would not regret it.
Thud!
The low-pitched bell rang. Following the sound of the bell, on that tall building in the distance, the Grand Clock in his memory rings again.
He gazed in the direction of the sound, where the Grand Clock of his memories chimed again.
Ethan was taken aback when his eyes caught sight of the huge LED screen beneath it. He stared intently at the time shown, becoming increasingly agitated. August 23, 2018 – today's date.
And the time when he left was August 20, 2012. That was to say only six years have passed on Earth after he was transported to the depths of the starry sky by that dilapidated star portal.
"Six years. I'm sure Monica is still here. She should still be in this city." Ethan's body trembled, and his voice quivered as he spoke.
Who could have imagined that Lord Stellar, who dominated the Inferno Battlefield, would have such a strong reaction?
"Find her. I must find her immediately." Ethan kept murmuring inwardly. Instinctively, he reached his foot out.
Influenced by Earth's gravity, he fell from the top of the building.
Thud!
More than ten seconds later, a dull sound rang out at the bottom of the building.
Ethan struggled to get up from the construction waste with his already tattered clothes becoming even more torn.
Fortunately, his physical body had been tempered strong enough in the starry sky. Otherwise, he would have been dead after falling from such a high level.
"Damn it. Passing through that ruined Primordial Formation has nearly shattered my Nascent Soul. I can't summon even the slightest bit of power now. I'll just have to rely on my physical strength," Ethan muttered bitterly as he climbed out of the rubble.
Luckily, he found himself in an abandoned building with no one around. Otherwise, if anyone had seen him, he'd probably be all over the news tonight.
To avoid drawing too much attention, Ethan quietly swiped a set of clothes someone had left out to dry from a nearby apartment building.
Relying on memory, he returned to the neighborhood where his home used to be. But when he arrived, the familiar area was gone, replaced by a high-end residential complex.
He searched for a while, but there wasn't a single familiar face in sight.
With no other options, he took a risky chance and attempted to use his Nascent Soul again, trying to locate his mother through the trace of her bloodline aura.
His Nascent Soul was on the brink of collapse, making it extremely dangerous to use this technique again. One wrong move, and he could be dead. But he had no choice.
His Nascent Soul activated, and his severely damaged spiritual sense expanded outward, stretching to the four corners of the city.
"To the east, about three miles away, I can sense a similar bloodline aura. In this city, the only person left who shares my blood is my mom, so that must be her.”
Due to the severe damage to his Nascent Soul, he could only perceive the presence of the bloodline aura without seeing any actual images.
After confirming his mom's location, he retracted his spiritual sense, fighting off a wave of dizziness, and sprinted in that direction.
As he approached the location, he found himself in front of an old, abandoned factory.
The factory looked like it had been deserted for years, with waist-high weeds and discarded industrial junk strewn about.
He wondered why his mom would be here.
Ethan felt a surge of confusion when he saw the factory's dilapidated state.
Furrowing his brow, he stepped quickly into the factory. Even without relying on his spiritual sense, he could clearly sense the exact position of that bloodline aura.
After navigating through piles of industrial waste and skirting a collapsed building, he finally arrived in front of a warehouse.
At the warehouse entrance sat a domestic SUV.
Ethan lowered his footsteps and moved to the side of the warehouse, peering through a broken section to see inside.
He saw a group of men, of various shapes and sizes, sitting at a table drinking and playing cards. In a corner of the warehouse, a little girl sat huddled, wiping away tears.
When his gaze fell upon the girl, his mind went blank. His entire being froze.
He could unmistakably feel the bloodline aura emanating from her.
As a Celestial Sovereign, he could still recognize that this girl's bloodline was directly inherited from him even though his Nascent Soul was damaged. In other words, this little girl was his daughter.
Ethan stood there in stunned silence for what felt like an eternity. He barely needed to guess to understand what was going on.
Years ago, after he and Monica Lyson graduated from university, they returned to Westford together. Six years ago, he had gone hiking with some friends on Mount Fulcrum and met with an accident, falling off a cliff and never making it back.
At that time, Monica must have just been pregnant, which meant this little girl was their daughter.
Realizing this, Ethan's gaze softened as he looked at the girl, but when his eyes returned to the group of men, a cold glint appeared.
He didn't know what had happened before this, but after countless years traversing the space, he could clearly see that his precious daughter had been kidnapped by these men.
"If you dared to make my daughter cry, you'll pay the price," Ethan whispered.
Meanwhile, the tattooed men inside the warehouse continued drinking and playing cards, blissfully unaware that a violent man was watching them, ready to strike.
