Before long, a man about Lola Looske's age came over with a burlap sack slung across his back. Inside were half a sack of fruit.
Just as Lionel Zorn had said, the fruit was a mess of green and red, big and small. Some pieces were bruised, some worm-eaten. The quality was, frankly, terrible.
Gray, thankfully, wasn't picky. Food was food. He stuck out his little paws, snatched two in a blink, and crammed them into his mouth, one on each side.
