"Adonis, do you still want to secure your job? This is your third negative review during the probation period!"
Hearing the frantic voice on the other end of the line, Adonis patiently explained, "Sir, it wasn't my fault this time."
The manager snarled, "Not your fault? Then whose fault is it, mine? I don't care what the reason is. Find a way to get the customer to change their review, or don't bother coming back."
Adonis suppressed his anger. "So, if a customer treats me like a dog, I should just wag my tail and beg?"
The manager sneered, "You're just a chauffeur. This is the life you signed up for. Don't show me your dignity!"
Adonis finally exploded. "Screw this, I'm done!"
The manager cheerfully replied, "Alright, if you've got guts, don't return. You didn't pass the probation, so there will be no salary, no commission, and your deposit won't be refunded."
Adonis's voice turned cold. "What do you mean?"
The manager was prepared. "It's all written in the contract. I haven't even asked for compensation for the negative impact you've caused the driving app. You should count yourself lucky."
Listening to the sound after the call ended, rage boiled within Adonis. After working himself to the bone as a chauffeur for a month, he hadn't earned a penny and had lost his 2,000-dollar deposit. It was unfair.
The company had set him up. He wanted to confront them but hesitated. The manager was right. The employment rules were written in black and white. He hadn't met the company's requirements, and if they held onto that, even making a scene wouldn't help.
But what could he do now? Adonis looked back at the luxurious villa not far away. His chest heaved with complex emotions, but in the end, he braced himself and walked back.
As the doorbell rang, a tall woman appeared in his sight. Adonis recognized her as Imani. She had likely just showered. Her hair was damp, and her cheeks slightly flushed. As she raised her eyebrows, a mixture of coldness and allure exuded, creating a pressure that could shatter any man's defenses.
Even though Adonis had prepared himself, his breathing still faltered, and his heart raced uncontrollably. Although he knew Imani was beautiful last night, the lighting had been poor, and she was his client, so he didn't dare to look closely. They had spent the night together, but who would notice Imani's appearance? However, her figure was undeniably striking.
Adonis was momentarily taken aback, racing to find the right words. He didn't know how to describe it, but he was sure Imani was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her looks were secondary. Her aura drew him in as if she were bathed in light, mesmerizing and captivating.
Adonis instinctively stepped back, and Imani's slender, perfectly straight legs inevitably appeared. They were flawless and fair. As noon approached, Imani's skin seemed wrapped in a halo, with a delicate texture that made Adonis want to reach out and touch it.
Imani's lips curled in a mocking smile as she asked, "Why are you back?"
Adonis didn't bother her and bowed. "I came to apologize. I'm sorry about last night. No matter the cause, it was my fault for losing control."
Imani raised an eyebrow. "Are you saying I seduced you last night?"
Adonis hurriedly replied, "That's not what I meant..."
Imani waved her hand, interrupting him. Her chin lifted as her tone grew more aloof. "No need to explain. Yes, I was the one who initiated it last night. But I've already paid you, and you refused. So what do you want now? You didn't take it seriously, did you? If that's your plan, you'd best forget it. We belong to completely different worlds. If it weren't for my drinking last night and being in a bad mood, do you think someone like you would have a chance to sleep with me? If you think you can blackmail me, you'll regret your actions."
Feeling the disdain in her tone, Adonis's guilt lessened, and he spoke self-deprecatingly. "Yeah, right, I don't fit into your world. I'm just a chauffeur struggling to make ends meet. I'm in no position to promise you anything or to associate with someone like you. But I still stand by what I said, if you ever need..."
Imani's voice was distant. "I don't need anything."
Adonis let out a frustrated sigh. "Fine, if you don't need anything from me, could you at least delete that negative review on the app?"
Imani looked surprised. "Negative review?"
Adonis nodded. "Yes, I might get fired because of your negative review."
Imani suddenly laughed. "So, you came back just to ask me to delete the review?"
Adonis frowned. "It's important to me."
As Imani brushed her hair aside, her body wash wafted over, accentuating her feminine allure. "Are you done?"
Adonis nodded. "Yes."
Imani's tone turned cold and ruthless. "Then you can leave!"
With that, the door slammed shut, nearly hitting his nose.
Adonis cursed himself for being foolish. He should not reason with Imani. Even though he had anticipated the outcome, he still felt down as he turned away. Without the negative review removed, could he still keep his job? If he lost his job, how would he pay his debts? Would he have to ask for help?
As Adonis was lost in thought, the door behind him opened again.
Imani called out, "Stop right there!"
Adonis was fed up with her unreasonable behavior and coldly retorted without turning back, "Sorry, I've already left."
Imani remained calm, crossing her arms. "Don't you want the review deleted?"
Adonis felt mocked and stopped in his tracks, turning back with a darkened face. "Imani, what do you want?"
Imani shrugged, her tone indifferent. "Nothing much. I changed my mind." Without closing the door, she turned and went back inside.
Adonis hesitated for a moment but eventually followed her, bracing himself. Just as he reached the door, he heard Imani's teasing voice. "I thought you had some guts and wouldn't return."
Looking in, Adonis saw Imani gracefully slipping her slender feet into high heels, her movements elegant. The subtle curve from her calf to the top of her foot traced a near-perfect, alluring line.
Adonis didn't dare look longer and turned his gaze aside, his tone hinting at self-mockery. "Unlike you, a mighty company CEO, I'm just a chauffeur. Do you realize your rash review last night could cost me a month's work?"
Imani stood up, adjusting her dress in front of the mirror. "I hate people like you, always blaming others. Listen. No one gets anything for free. You've only seen my success, but do you know how much effort I've put in? As for why I gave you a negative review, don't you know the reason?"
Adonis was briefly puzzled. "Why?"
Imani found it hard to speak. "Why didn't you..."
Her face showed a flash of embarrassment and anger as she swung her hand toward him.
Adonis didn't understand her implication, only managing to catch her wrist in time. "Imani, don't push it!"
Imani couldn't break free and stomped with her high heel on his foot. Adonis flinched in pain.
Instinctively wanting to retaliate, he met Imani's unyielding, bright eyes, and his anger dissipated. "Just tell me, what do I have to do for you to delete the review?"
Imani tossed the car keys to Adonis and left the villa without looking back.
Adonis followed behind. "What does this mean?"
Imani smirked. "Drive my car. Isn't that what you do? What else are you capable of?"
Adonis asked instinctively, "Where to?"
Imani's fists clenched slightly, and she took a deep breath. "Fopton Airport."
Adonis was caught off guard. Since leaving the military, he had not wanted to reconnect with his past. But if he remembered correctly, today was the day the woman returned. Could he avoid it?
