"I don't believe you can drink that much," Ethan muttered under his breath, turning to Cody and Wilson, urging, "You two, hurry up. Finish your drinks, and I'll give each of you one grand."
"Alright."
Cody and Wilson perked up at the prospect of earning one grand just by drinking. It was an enticing reward. However, their faces were already flushed when they finished their second glass.
By the third glass, both were highly red-faced and tipsy, their hands slightly trembling as they poured more.
Ethan gritted his teeth. If he lost a drinking contest to some pauper, he'd be utterly humiliated. So, he forced himself to keep drinking.
Kayden crossed his arms, watching the spectacle with amusement. He wasn't in a rush; only one last glass remained.
Those around them were taken aback, secretly thinking that while this loser might not be good at making money, he sure could hold his liquor.
"What's the matter? Can't keep up?" Kayden teased with a grin.
Ethan, Cody, and Wilson looked wholly mortified. They'd be the laughingstock if word got out, so they drank with all their might.
Ultimately, Ethan and his friends couldn't match Kayden despite their impressive drinking capacities. They ended up slumped over the table, looking absolutely miserable.
They had reached their limit and couldn't drink any more. Not only did they fail to see Kayden drunk, but they were the ones who ended up intoxicated—a result none of them expected.
Kayden swirled his glass and downed the last drink in one go.
Seeing this, the three of them nearly exploded with anger. They gritted their teeth, thinking it was clearly a provocation on Kayden's part.
Everyone was stunned. How could this loser outdrink the three of them?
Kayden smiled slightly, thinking they'd better practice more if they wanted to take him down.
"You're just trying to provoke us. Look at the state we're in now, it's your fault."
"Quickly apologize to Ethan."
"If you were decent, you'd cover the tab."
The people around them were all fawning over Ethan, feeling sorry for his current state, and began criticizing Kayden.
Kayden had anticipated this. Anyway, he wasn't losing out. He knew they were just looking for a scapegoat, clearly trying to extort him.
"Kayden you don't want to pay the bill, do you? Just say it if that's the case." Despite having thrown up, Ethan couldn't resist mocking Kayden.
Kayden nonchalantly shrugged. "Who said I didn't want to pay? You're just sore losers."
"Hmph, I haven't even asked you for medical expenses for making us drink like this." Cody and Wilson snorted. They had underestimated his drinking ability. Now, not only did they not get the money, but they also lost face. They were deeply resentful of Kayden.
"Kayden, does that mean you're going to pay? Do you even have the money?" Ethan sneered, imagining Kayden begging him because he couldn't afford the bill.
"Don't run away when it's time to settle the bill." The others around them laughed coldly, not believing Kayden had the money.
Among them, the lowest status still had a car worth less than one grand, but even their savings and assets weren't enough to cover the bill. Spending that much would make them feel the pinch.
And Kayden? He only had an electric bike, often seen as a sign of lower status. How could he settle the bill? Selling himself might be more likely.
Kayden decided to prove them wrong and called Milo.
On the call, he learned that this restaurant was one of the businesses under his family's umbrella. In other words, this place had ties to the Shaw family.
This was significantly in his favor as it was a case of not recognizing one's own.
"I bet this guy can't pay the bill," the crowd mocked, pointing fingers at Kayden.
Only Amelia believed in Kayden. How could someone worth 2 billion not afford a bill?
Hearing someone would settle the bill; the waitress approached Ethan with a seductive smile. "Ethan, you're paying again? A perfect man like you would make anyone who marries you very happy."
Ethan was the most prestigious among them, so she assumed he was the only one who could afford it.
"I'm not paying today." Ethan pointed at Kayden, eager to see how he would produce the money.
"Him? Who is he? Can he really afford it?" The waitress sneered. From the name, she knew he was a nobody. The total bill was thirty grand—how many people could afford that?
"He's something special, alright. He's the richest man in our city, isn't he?" Ethan mocked with a smirk, pretending to compliment Kayden while belittling him.
Except for Amelia, everyone laughed until tears came out. "Yeah, right, a millionaire on a bike?"
However, Ethan unknowingly hit the nail on the head. Kayden was indeed the richest man in the city.
"Oh, rich man, please pay the bill." The waitress sarcastically taunted Kayden.
"How much is it?"
Kayden felt a bit disappointed. It seemed his uncle wasn't as efficient as he'd hoped.
"100 thousand dollars. Do you have the money?" The waitress snorted. "Only someone like Mr. Zorn could manage that."
Ethan put on a sanctimonious face. "Kayden, beg me, and I'll help you."
Everyone was watching to see what Kayden would do. If it were them, they would have begged Ethan long ago.
But Kayden was different. He had dignity, and no one could touch that except his family.
Amelia couldn't stand it anymore and spoke up for Kayden, "What are you doing? Aren't you all classmates?"
"What classmates? In this day and age, having him as a classmate is embarrassing," Ethan sneered at Kayden. All his friends were outstanding individuals. Having a classmate like Kayden, who rode an electric bike, was laughable.
Kayden chuckled. "Alright, I'll pay the bill."
"Wait." Suddenly, a man in a suit rushed over, commanding the room's attention as he approached.
He had received a call earlier informing him that a distinguished guest had arrived, and he needed to attend to them personally.
He thought it was someone from the Shaw family and hurried over. If anything happened, he couldn't explain it to the person on the phone.
The man hoped he was on time. Offending the Shaw family members would be a huge problem.
"Hello, Mr. Moore." Upon seeing the manager, the waitress's eyes lit up, and she moved closer seductively.
The manager ignored her and asked, "Who is Mr. Shaw?"
Among those present, only Kayden had the last name, Shaw.
