Ezra let out a bitter chuckle. "I never imagined your insight would be this sharp."
"The survival rules I taught you. You've turned them against me!"
"But how did you know I would make a move against you?"
Calvin glanced at the bag beside Ezra and said, "You should know that everyone in the prison is afraid of me."
"Nothing that happens in this prison goes unnoticed by me."
"Two weeks ago, you had someone smuggle a dagger and some concentrated sulfuric acid into the prison."
Ezra's expression shifted. "What does that prove?"
Calvin replied, "I wondered why you needed the sulfuric acid."
"When you took this bag and planned to escape with me, I figured it out."
"You likely planned to use the acid to destroy my body. Then, you disguise as me and then make your getaway."
"You helped me only to prepare for your breakout, right?"
Ezra's face went pale, his voice trembling. "These... these are just assumptions."
Calvin said, "Yes, they are assumptions."
"But you taught me to always be cautious in everything I do."
"If there's a possibility, I must be prepared."
"In the end, I was right."
As Calvin spoke, he removed his prison uniform, revealing clothes beneath.
Ezra was taken aback.
Calvin strapped slabs of pork over critical areas of his body, including incredibly thick layers over his heart.
No wonder the stab earlier felt like it hit meat. Ezra hadn't suspected a thing.
Who would have thought the dagger had pierced pork tied to Calvin's body?
Calvin said, "I prepared this meat armor as protection against you."
"And that bag. It's filled with flour from the kitchen."
"I wasn't sure I could beat you, so I used the flour to blind you, giving myself a fighting chance."
Ezra paused, then let out a bitter laugh. "Kid, your insight is awe-inspiring. You're destined for great things."
"I admit defeat at your hands."
"Who would've thought, after a lifetime of dominance, I'd fall to a mere youngster like you? What an unpredictable world..."
As Ezra spoke, blood trickled from his mouth as he convulsed and finally collapsed to the ground, lifeless.
Calvin stood by, staring intently at Ezra's body, not moving an inch.
After a while, Calvin grabbed an iron rod from the ground and dragged Ezra's bag toward him.
He opened it, finding various items and two books.
Calvin pulled out a glass bottle filled with liquid.
Opening the bottle, he poured the liquid over Ezra's body.
Suddenly, Ezra convulsed and sprang up, lunging at Calvin.
Ezra had been faking death, hoping to catch Calvin off guard and finish him off.
However, Calvin was too cautious. He moved away and used the sulfuric acid to burn Ezra's body.
Calvin, anticipating this, hurled the glass bottle at Ezra.
It was a bottle of sulfuric acid, and Ezra startled, frantically defended himself.
The bottle flew from Ezra's block, landing on the grass nearby.
Calvin took the chance to rush forward, driving the iron rod into Ezra's chest.
Ezra roared in pain, grabbing Calvin's neck. "Kid, even if I die, I'm taking you down!"
"Die with me!"
Ezra's hands were like iron clamps, choking Calvin.
Despite his youth and strength, Calvin couldn't break free.
In desperation, Calvin dragged Ezra into the nearby river.
The icy water quickly engulfed them, with Ezra desperately trying to surface while Calvin held him down.
Ezra was strong, even wounded, still able to overpower Calvin.
If they surfaced, Calvin was doomed.
Calvin's only chance was to outlast Ezra underwater, seeing who could hold their breath longer.
They struggled in the water for a long time, with Ezra trying every counterattack, but Calvin clung on, using all his strength to submerge Ezra.
Finally, Ezra, weakened by age and injury, couldn't outlast Calvin and gradually lost strength.
Calvin took the opportunity to surface, gasping for air.
Though he inhaled some water, he coughed and held Ezra underwater.
After six minutes, once Ezra was utterly still, Calvin loosened his grip slightly.
He pulled the dagger from Ezra's abdomen, stabbing his vital points several more times to ensure his death.
Calvin dragged Ezra's body to the riverbank, panting for breath.
After a while, a light flashed in the distance, snapping Calvin back to reality.
He quickly turned and saw searchlights from the prison lighting up the area.
Calvin's expression changed, knowing they were searching for their escape.
He looked around, pondering briefly before deciding.
He turned Ezra's body over, swapping their prison uniforms.
Then, he poured the remaining sulfuric acid over Ezra's body.
The acid quickly disfigured Ezra's body beyond recognition.
With everything done, Calvin pushed Ezra's body into the river.
The swift current quickly carried Ezra's body away.
Yet, Calvin didn't leave.
He watched the distant lights, took a deep breath, picked up Ezra's bag, and returned to the sewer, retracing his steps.
Within five minutes, several vehicles arrived at the sewer exit.
The guard captain jumped down with his team, their faces changing at the scene.
The captain shouted, "They escaped through the sewer!"
"They can't be far. They're around here somewhere!"
"Quick, increase manpower, and conduct a thorough search along the riverbank!"
The guards quickly mobilized.
One guard looked at the sewer, asking, "Captain, what about inside?"
"Should we search it?"
The captain scolded, "Are you stupid? They've already escaped. Who would go back?"
"That sewer's filled with filth, cold and stinky. Would you go back in?"
"If you want to search, do it yourself."
The guard waved his hands. The stench at the exit nearly made him vomit. There was no way he'd go in.
