Travis' words only fueled Calvin's rage even more.
However, he didn't show it. Instead, he inquired in a low voice, "Who attacked Zayden?"
Travis thought Calvin was scared and replied smugly, "His boss injured him."
Calvin frowned. "His boss?"
He knew Zayden had joined a gang. Zayden was always bragging about how brave and protective his boss was.
But why would his boss break his arms and legs?
Travis sneered. "What, you don't believe it?"
"You have no clue how powerful the people behind this are."
"Zayden was shouting about getting justice for Calvin and found the witnesses. He was asking for it!"
"With just one word from the boss behind the scenes, Zayden's boss immediately broke his arms and legs."
Travis glanced at Calvin, sneering, "Kid, think about it. How many lives do you think you've got?"
"If you don't want to die, let me go."
"Otherwise, I guarantee you'll end up worse than Zayden!"
Calvin's expression turned icy. From Travis' words, he realized Travis knew some secrets.
"Who's this secret boss you're talking about?"
Calvin asked sternly.
Travis was taken aback. Then his expression turned cold. "Kid, don't ask me. I don't know who the secret boss is either."
"I'm telling you, if you want to live, let me go, or else..."
Before Travis could finish, Calvin didn't hesitate, stabbing the dagger into his other leg.
Travis let out a piercing scream, struggling desperately.
Calvin had stabbed too deep, and the dagger got stuck in the bone.
As Travis struggled, the dagger broke.
Calvin held the remaining half of the dagger, frowning.
The dagger was fragile.
He rushed forward, stepping on Travis' neck, aiming the broken dagger at Travis' forehead. "Scream again, and I'll shove it right in!"
Travis was scared to death. From the previous two stabs, he was confident Calvin dared to act.
He quickly stopped screaming, trembling as he spoke, "I... I swear I don't know anything."
Calvin replied coldly, "You just mentioned the secret boss. Now, you don't know. Do you think I would believe you?"
Travis, almost crying, said, "I was just guessing."
"Someone paid me two grand to testify against Calvin."
"Someone handing out two grand easily. What kind of powerful figure must that be?"
"But... but I don't know who it is!"
Calvin frowned. "Then who gave you the money?"
Travis hesitated, unwilling to answer.
Losing patience, Calvin jammed the broken dagger into Travis' shoulder.
Travis cried in pain, quickly saying, "It was... it was Fiona Williams. She gave me money to be a witness."
Calvin was stunned. "Fiona?"
He knew Fiona. She was a classmate of his.
Back in school, Fiona wasn't someone to mess with, always dressing provocatively and often mingling with delinquents.
After high school, Fiona didn't continue her studies. Instead, she frequented bars and clubs.
Word on the street was that she worked at a nightclub.
Fiona attended the last class reunion. She was with the campus beauty at the time.
They seemed to be on good terms, chatting and laughing.
Later, the campus beauty was dead by Calvin's side. Fiona was bribing witnesses behind the scenes.
It seemed Fiona knew something about the campus beauty's death.
Calvin asked, "Where is Fiona now?"
Travis replied, "Fiona works at the Marriott Entertainment Club, probably on duty now."
Calvin nodded slowly, then asked Travis, "Do you want to live or die?"
Travis's face was ashen. "I... of course, I want to live."
"I've told you everything I know. Please, give me a chance, spare me."
Calvin replied, "Alright."
"Call Fiona and tell her someone is investigating your false testimony. Then, arrange to meet with her to discuss solutions."
"Listen carefully. If you slip up and let Fiona notice anything, I'll kill you right away!"
As Calvin spoke, he aimed the half dagger at Travis' neck.
Travis trembled, nodding quickly. "I... I'll call. I'll call."
He took out his phone, shaking as he prepared to make the call.
Calvin pressed down on his arm, saying in a low voice, "Wait until you calm down to make the call!"
At that moment, Travis was trembling, his voice shaking. If he called now, he would give himself away.
After about ten minutes, when Travis had calmed down, Calvin had him make the call.
Soon, Fiona answered. Following Calvin's instructions, Travis said, "Fiona, there's trouble."
"Someone is investigating Calvin's case, suspecting I gave false testimony. What should I do?"
"Where are you? Let's meet and discuss what to do."
Fiona paused and replied, "Meet at the usual place tomorrow at noon."
Travis hurriedly said, "Can't we meet now?"
"I'm... I'm terrified!"
Fiona retorted, "Damn it, I'm with Terry's friends tonight. I can't leave!"
"Don't be scared. I got word that Calvin was killed when he escaped from prison a couple of days ago."
"Even if someone is investigating this, the guy's dead, so what's there to be afraid of?"
"Just stick to your story. Don't worry, my boss can sort this out for you."
With that, Fiona hung up.
Travis looked at Calvin. "You heard it too. She... she won't come out tonight."
Calvin frowned deeply. He had hoped to resolve everything tonight.
With Fiona not coming out, the investigation couldn't continue. He'd have to wait another day.
His current situation meant every day of waiting brought more danger.
After a moment of contemplation, Calvin took a deep breath. "Then we'll meet tomorrow."
"By the way, where is this usual place?"
"How do you usually meet?"
Calvin asked carefully, and Travis honestly explained every detail.
Calvin noted everything, took out some prepared ropes, and securely tied Travis up.
He wrapped several layers of duct tape over the ropes to ensure Travis couldn't escape.
After completing everything, Calvin dragged Travis to an abandoned cellar outside.
It seemed to be an old sweet potato cellar from when residents lived here, but it was deserted now.
Weeds covered the entrance, and a stone slab on top kept people from accidentally falling in.
Calvin looked at Travis. "Until I solve everything, you'll stay in this cellar."
"Just so you know, if anything happens to me and I can't come back, you'll starve in there."
"So, I'll give you one more chance. Think carefully if there's anything you haven't told me."
"We're both in this together. If you dare harm me, if anything happens to me, you won't survive either!"
Travis was pale with fear, trembling as he spoke, "I... I'll tell. I'll tell."
He quickly revealed more details about meeting Fiona.
Calvin's expression remained icy. As he suspected, Travis had been hiding something.
Fortunately, Calvin had pressed Travis one last time, or he might not have met Fiona tomorrow.
Once Travis had confessed everything, Calvin taped his mouth shut, then threw him into the cellar, sealing it with the stone slab.
With everything done, Calvin turned and walked alone into the vast night, heading back to Stonegate.
