The policewoman's tall, slender figure was accentuated by her well-fitted uniform, adding an extra touch of commanding presence. Her bright eyes fixed intently on Hendrix, and her tightly pressed lips revealed a simmering anger.
"Hey, what a beautiful officer!" Hendrix thought as he watched the policewoman approach. Since arriving in the 21st century, he hadn't encountered another beauty apart from Linda. Naturally, he couldn't help but take a second glance at this striking woman.
Seeing Hendrix's gaze lingering on her, the anger on the policewoman's face intensified. She approached Hendrix and demanded, "I'm Anna Milton from the police department. Why are you here? Fighting in a gang brawl?"
"A brawl?" Hendrix replied with a smile. "Officer, I wasn't fighting. They tried to rob me, and I was defending myself."
"Self-defense?" Anna, clearly annoyed by Hendrix's unabashed stare, pointed to the thug pinned under his foot and retorted, "If you were defending yourself, then what was he doing?"
"Officer, we just bumped his car, and he beat us up!" the thug under Hendrix's foot wailed. "We're innocent, please help us!"
"Cut the nonsense!" Hendrix pressed his foot down harder, quickly silencing the thug's protests.
"Everyone, be quiet!" Unsure of whom to believe, Anna shouted. "Show me your IDs!"
The thugs obediently pulled out their IDs. However, Hendrix stood awkwardly, aware of Anna's fierce glare.
"Your ID? Why aren't you taking it out?" Anna raised an eyebrow and reached out her hand. "Cooperate, please!"
"I don't have my ID." Hendrix shrugged helplessly at Anna. "I left it at home."
He never got used to carrying his ID when heading out, especially since he was just out to buy some herbs.
"Forgot it?" Anna smirked coldly. "Well, you'll have to come to the police station with me to clear this up."
"Hey, I've got things to do. I can't go with you!" Hendrix protested. It was ridiculous. The thugs tried to rob him, and now he was the one being taken in by the police. Were all 21st-century officers like this?
"We need to sort this out first!" Anna said firmly, not giving Hendrix a chance to explain further as she twisted his arm behind his back.
With his skills, Hendrix could easily subdue Anna, but he knew resisting might lead to charges of assaulting an officer. Reluctantly, he let Anna twist his arm and cuff him.
"Hey, is this necessary?" Hendrix asked, now visibly annoyed that Anna was serious.
"Well, you should've cooperated!" Anna said with a hint of satisfaction, giving Hendrix a gentle push. "Get up, you lot! Let's get this sorted!"
The thugs, thoroughly beaten by Hendrix, were in no shape to run. They helped each other up and followed Anna to the police station.
"Your ID number?" Once at the station, Anna handed the thugs over to another officer but stayed with Hendrix.
Anna was slightly irritated. While she often attracted attention because of her striking looks, few stared as boldly as Hendrix.
Hendrix, unfazed by Anna's questioning, confidently recited a string of numbers. Leaning back in his chair, his hands cuffed behind him, he waited for an apology.
When Anna entered the number into the computer, her expression changed. The database had detailed records of Hendrix's identity and background. Despite her fiery temper, Anna was no fool. She knew someone like Hendrix, with his status, was unlikely to provoke a group of thugs.
Meeting Hendrix's intense gaze, Anna shot him an angry look and scoffed, "Pervert."
Hendrix chuckled, "Which eye of yours sees me as a pervert?"
"Hmph!"
With a slight smirk, Hendrix murmured, "Not bad, C cup, great figure. Such fierceness, must be quite the ride."
Anna shot up, stepping in front of Hendrix with an icy tone. "What did you say?"
"I said you're beautiful," Hendrix replied with a slight shrug.
"You're a scoundrel." Anna went to slap Hendrix, but this time he dodged her hand. "Can officers hit people so freely?"
Anna huffed, "A pervert like you has it coming."
Hendrix chuckled softly, "With just the two of us here, aren't you worried I'll do something?"
Anna smirked with disdain, "If you had the guts, I'd be impressed."
Confident in her abilities, Anna wasn't worried about Hendrix. As a champion fighter at the police academy and a national martial arts elite, she could take on four male officers alone, let alone a mere rogue.
Hendrix's lips curled up slightly. "Really?"
Anna watched Hendrix calmly extend his left hand, lightly grasping the handcuff on his right wrist. With a firm twist, the cuff snapped in two, as if it were made of paper.
Standing up, Hendrix rubbed his wrist and grinned at Anna. "Do you still think so?"
