Keaton's words left everyone astounded.
"How dare you, young man, criticize me like that? Such audacity!" Rory snapped angrily and rudely added, "Get out of the way and don't hold up my treatment, or you won't be able to bear the consequences!"
"Keaton, didn't I tell you not to speak out of turn?" Displeased by Keaton's words, Alicia immediately pulled him aside.
Keaton shrugged calmly. "The old man's energy and blood flow are unstable due to an old injury. If you use the Divine Needles, his energy and blood will converge, causing his blood vessels to rupture."
Hearing this, Brody and Tina were furious, shouting, "You brat, keep quiet! You're holding up Rory's treatment with your nonsense. Alicia, get this kid out of here!"
Alicia's face darkened. She was just about to speak when Rory quickly voiced, "Wait!"
Rory stared incredulously at Keaton. "How did you know I would use the Divine Needles?"
Indeed, he had planned to use his signature technique, although he hadn't started yet. How did this young man see through his intentions? Could he predict the future, or had he discovered Rory's medical skills?
Noticing Rory's puzzled look, Keaton said, "While the Divine Needles are effective, the old man is frail. Do you really think he can handle the treatment?"
"Uh..."
Keaton's question hit Rory like a ton of bricks, causing cold sweat to form on his forehead. In his eagerness to help, he overlooked the old man's weak constitution.
The Divine Needles were powerful and demanded a robust physique; the old man might not survive the treatment.
"Right, if I used the Divine Needles, his blood vessels might shatter, and he could die from internal bleeding."
Realizing this, Rory felt a chill run down his spine, and his hand trembled.
"Dr. Rory, the old man can't hold on much longer. Hurry up and treat him." Unaware of the underlying issues, Brody and Tina urged as they saw the old man's pallor.
"Why the rush? A healer can't be impatient. I almost made a grave mistake, but luckily, this young man stopped me in time," Rory chastised, then turned to Keaton with newfound respect. "Young man, what's your name?"
"Dr. Rory, are you serious? What could he possibly know about medicine, anyway?" Brody and Tina were incredulous. How could this young man possess any medical knowledge?
Alicia, too, was puzzled by Rory's change in attitude toward Keaton. Could her fiancé truly understand medicine? Even if he did, how could his skills surpass Rory's?
With hands in pockets, Keaton replied confidently, "The old man's energy and blood flow are unstable due to an old ailment. The solution is simple: use the Tranquil Needles, which work gently and can heal him."
"Tranquil Needles," Rory murmured, suddenly slapping his thigh in excitement. "Of course! How could I have overlooked this? Though not a sophisticated technique, the Tranquil Needles are gentle and perfectly suited for the old man's condition."
Rory's admiration for Keaton grew. Despite his youth, Keaton had shown remarkable composure and insight, his medical skills seemingly immeasurable.
Without delay, Rory followed the other man's advice and used the Tranquil Needles.
Soon, Gabriel's eyebrows twitched, and he slowly opened his eyes, regaining consciousness.
"What happened to me?" the old man asked weakly, glancing around.
"Grandpa!"
"Dad!"
Alicia and the Scurr couple exclaimed in relief, their hearts finally at ease seeing Gabriel safe.
Alicia's eyes, welling with tears, explained, "Grandpa, your old ailment flared up, nearly scaring us to death! Dr. Rory saved you."
Rory waved a hand modestly. "I don't deserve the credit. It was this young man who truly saved you. Without his guidance, I would have made a terrible mistake."
Brody frowned, puzzled. "Dr. Rory, don't be modest. We saw you perform the treatment. How can you give him the credit?"
Alicia looked to Rory, awaiting his explanation.
"You don't get it!" Rory defended Keaton, "This young man's medical skills are extraordinary. His insight was right on the money. I nearly went astray, but he guided me back and showed me the correct method."
Rory added humbly, "This young man deserves ninety-nine percent of the credit. I was just playing assistant."
Everyone was stunned by his high praise for Keaton.
"Now that Mr. Scurr Sr. is awake, I shall take my leave," Rory announced, bowing to the group before exiting the room.
At this moment, Gabriel turned his gaze to Keaton, smiling. "Young man, what's your name?"
Alicia answered without emotion, "Grandfather, this is Keaton Lyson, the fiancé you arranged for me."
"Fiancé?" Gabriel beamed, his body trembling slightly. "So you've finally arrived! It seems our family's good fortune is beginning."
His words left everyone momentarily speechless, unsure what to make of it.
Gabriel continued, "How is your mentor? Is he well?"
"He's traveling the world, and is as fit as ever," Keaton replied with a hint of exasperation.
Keaton couldn't help but grit his teeth when he thought of his mentor. While he had been locked up for three years, the other man had traveled leisurely around the world.
"That's good to hear," Gabriel said, his face lit with a smile, clearly delighted by Keaton's presence.
Brody couldn't help but ask, "Did you attend medical school?"
Given Rory's earlier remarks, it was clear this young man was skilled in medicine. If he were a rising star in the medical field, he wouldn't be a bad choice as a son-in-law.
However, Keaton shook his head. "No, I learned medicine from my mentor."
Brody's eyes flickered. "Who is your mentor, if I may ask?"
"He doesn't have much of a reputation and isn't even properly trained," Keaton replied.
Hearing this, disdain appeared on Brody's face again. He had thought Keaton might have attended medical school or studied under a renowned medical expert. But neither was true. Did this mean Keaton's advice to Rory was just a lucky guess?
Tina, hearing this, also wore a frosty expression, "What do you do for work now?"
"I spent three years in prison, and now I'm unemployed," Keaton replied honestly.
Everyone was stunned by his answer.
They assumed Keaton had a formal job, but he was currently unemployed, and his previous occupation had been prison!
The Scurr couple's faces turned icy. How could someone from prison be their son-in-law? What a joke!
Just as they considered dismissing Keaton, Gabriel looked up with a smile. "Being unemployed is actually good; you can help Alicia out more. Why don't you two get married now and hold the wedding at the end of the month?"
