"Oh, are you mad?"
"Who would've thought even trash like you could get angry!"
"What is it? Did I bruise your macho ego, embarrass you, or hurt your dignity?"
"If you're so embarrassed, why not just call off the engagement now? Clinging onto an engagement that doesn't suit you is the most toxic thing ever!"
Vivian Zuniga wasn't about to let Jordan Sowden off the hook!
Arianna Showyer was just too soft to break things off with this loser, so Vivian figured she'd take matters into her own hands. She was hell-bent on making Jordan dump the engagement himself!
Jordan got even angrier, slamming his fist down hard on the car window!
He was nuts! The car was still moving fast-this was way too dangerous!
The Wrangler couldn't take the hit and swerved so hard it nearly flipped!
And this was happening on Sinos!
"Jordan! If you want to die, don't drag us with you!" Vivian yelled, wishing she could jump from the front seat to the back and shoot him herself!
But when she turned her head, she saw something even crazier-a rocket whizzed right past the side of the car.
Boom.
The rocket exploded about twenty meters ahead, blowing a massive hole in the road-about four or five meters deep and over ten meters wide!
Now the car had to stop, and everyone had to get out.
"That was close!" Vivian exclaimed, brushing back her hair, beads of sweat glistening on her forehead.
Arianna Showyer walked up to Jordan, her gaze burning, staring straight into his eyes like she was looking for answers.
"Don't look at me with those puppy-dog eyes, babe!" he teased. "You do that and I can't take it!"
This drop-dead gorgeous bombshell, oozing sex appeal, practically set the air on fire. After three years in prison, how was he supposed to hold back?
Jordan pursed his lips, his tongue swirling around in his mouth, practically drooling.
But Jordan's move just now was so weird, even Vivian cocked her head, for once actually thinking, and found it unbelievable.
"General Showyer, do you think we dodged the rocket because he slapped the car, making it tilt and barely avoid it?"
"Did he save us?"
"But if that's true, what, does he have eyes in the back of his head? Rockets are so fast-how could he know one was coming, where it would hit, and then calculate the position and tilt the car to dodge?"
"Don't make it so complicated. I say he just got lucky! You couldn't pull that off either, could you?"
With Vivian's words, Arianna finally let go of her scrutinizing gaze.
She shifted her beautiful eyes to the long streak of black smoke on the right side of the Wrangler, left by the rocket's flames.
In other words, the rocket came insanely close-almost grazed the car!
So, if Jordan really knew about the danger, he should've jumped out the window or grabbed the steering wheel for a big maneuver, not just risk it all like that!
So yeah, there's no way this was some genius move on Jordan's part!
But as Arianna took a step forward, she turned back and shot a sharp look at Jordan, coldly saying, "I hope this was just a case of dumb luck."
"If I find out you're hiding your true abilities, I won't go easy on you!"
After all, Jordan's earlier warnings didn't sound like someone clueless about weapons.
And his insistence on getting out and slamming the car to make it swerve really was suspicious!
Jordan scratched his head, totally baffled by Arianna's logic.
If he saved them by accident, then it was just dumb luck.
But if he was hiding his strength, then it was all on purpose-he really meant to save them!
Saving a life is a big deal-shouldn't Arianna be grateful?
"So what exactly do you mean by 'not going easy on me'?" Jordan's lips curved into a cold, mocking smile.
But Arianna wasn't joking.
She spat out one word: "Kill."
In an instant, a chill swept through, sending shivers down everyone's spine.
She, Arianna Showyer, General Showyer, Peerless War God of Westoria, stood tall and unyielding!
Better to die than be humiliated!
If she got played by Jordan, it would be her greatest shame!
...
The crater left by the rocket was massive, blocking the road ahead. Arianna and Vivian had no choice but to ditch the car and hike around the pit-guess they'd be walking the rest of the way.
But Jordan refused to get out. He backed up a good distance, then floored it-flying the Wrangler right over the huge crater!
"That guy's nuts, does he have a death wish?" Vivian screamed as the Wrangler landed with a thud on the other side, safe and sound.
Vivian was stunned, while Arianna's eyes flashed with that icy glint again.
Maybe worried Arianna would overthink it, Jordan shrugged, "I've got nothing but this lousy life, so I'm not afraid of dying!"
Arianna and Vivian finally made their way over the mountain and around the giant crater, while Jordan sat in the car waiting forever. When he saw them coming, he playfully opened the door and said, "Ladies first, babe!"
"And me? What about me? Why isn't the back door open?" Vivian shouted from behind.
But Jordan ignored her. He gunned the engine, spinning the car so the exhaust blasted right in Vivian's face as he tore off!
Vivian coughed and sputtered, her face black with fumes, cursing, "Jordan, are you even a man? How can you be so damn petty?"
"Just because I spoke a few truths that upset you, you hold a grudge?"
In the car, Arianna frowned, thinking Jordan's actions were pretty ungentlemanly.
So she tried to talk him down, "You don't have to act like this-you should learn to be more tolerant and magnanimous."
"Vivian's young and a little blunt. Her words sting, but she doesn't mean any harm. You shouldn't take it so personally!"
Suddenly, the car screeched to a stop, the door flew open.
"You get out too!"
"I can't stand someone nagging in my ear!"
Jordan shot back, then stomped the gas and took off without a second thought.
Cold and ruthless-totally shameless.
"This is my car, why should I get out?" Arianna finally lost it. She could usually stay cool even if the sky fell, but this time she was so mad her face turned purple as Jordan glanced over, licking his lips.
Honestly, she was even hotter than Vivian, with curves like a ripe peach. If they really got married, he'd need to keep goji berries on hand.
But Jordan couldn't care less.
Once he turned his back, he recognized no one!
"You ditched the car, I found it-so it's mine now!"
...
"Jordan, do you have to go this far? Haven't I treated you well enough?"
"I'm General Showyer, Peerless War God of Westoria! Can't you cut me some slack?"
"If you can't even do that, we might as well call off the engagement!"
Arianna finally lost it. She could usually stay cool even if the sky fell, but this time she was so mad her face turned purple.
Behind her, Vivian quickly caught up, twisting the knife, "See? That's your Peerless War God fiancé! Why hang onto such a loser-waiting for a miracle at New Year's or something?"
"Don't think he'll change a thing. All he'll do is embarrass you and make you miserable!"
"Call off the engagement now."
Arianna glanced at Vivian. In the barren wilderness, only the two of them were left.
She could finally speak her mind.
"Vivian, he probably doesn't even realize how pathetic he is right now. He just got out of prison, his family's gone, and he's got nothing left!"
"He's already miserable enough. If I bring up breaking off the engagement now, wouldn't that just kick him when he's down? I'd basically be pushing him over the edge."
"I'll wait until he's mentally ready!"
"Sigh!"
Vivian let out a long sigh, shaking her head, "General Showyer, he's him, you're you. It's not your fault his life's a mess. Why are you the one carrying the load?"
"See? You're so good to him, always protecting him! But what about him? Did he appreciate it? He hijacked your car and tossed you out! What kind of guy does that?"
"You're just too soft-hearted, too nice! In the end, I guarantee he won't change a bit, and you'll be the one hurt!"
...
Hayde Tower-Herton's most iconic building, smack in the middle of Denos Street and Jorsher Road, the busiest intersection in town.
A dust-covered Wrangler screeched up to the main entrance.
Jordan hopped out, grinning, tossing the keys to the security guard as he muttered to himself.
"Elina, I'm back! I'm out now and you didn't even come get me-are you still mad about what happened back then?"
"Well, I'm here to apologize in person, begging you not to be angry!"
"After all, I'm your brother-if I did something wrong, I should be punished!"
The security guard stared at the keys in confusion, barking, "Who are you? You can't just park here! Move it!"
Jordan was taken aback, surprised, "You don't recognize me?"
"Who the hell are you, and why should I know you?"
"Wait, isn't this Maxwell Tower? I'm Jordan..."
"Open your damn eyes-this is Hayde Tower! There's no Maxwell Tower here!"
