Cristian Spears suddenly shuddered for no reason.
But it wasn't over yet. The man's chilling gaze landed on Elina Sowden, whom Cristian was carrying on his back. Suddenly, in a flash, he grabbed Cristian by the throat and hoisted him up like a baby chick.
"I'm Cristian! My family's the Spears-we're one of the top families in Herton, worth billions! No one dares mess with us!"
Cristian still struggled, trying to flaunt his powerful status to scare off his opponent.
But this time, it didn't work at all.
"Cristian Spears, huh?"
"You're exactly the kind of scum I came to take care of!"
With a quick twist, Cristian was slammed headfirst into the marble floor, his shiny forehead taking the brunt!
Bam! Bam! Bam! The thuds echoed through the room like a hammer pounding the floor.
Blood welled up on his shiny forehead, and Cristian was so dizzy he was seeing stars-pain shooting through his whole body!
But it was far from over.
When the newcomer saw his sister Elina tied up and clearly drugged by Cristian, his rage boiled over. With a vicious punch, he sent Cristian sprawling, knocking the wind out of him and dropping him to the floor.
"How dare you pull such dirty tricks on my sister!"
"Someone like you isn't even worthy of thinking about Elina Sowden!"
The man kicked him again, launching Cristian into the wall before he bounced back and crumpled to the ground.
The pain was so intense, Cristian screamed like a stuck pig!
Thankfully, the man was more concerned about Elina. He quickly tore off the tape and untied the ropes around Elina, then pulled out some silver needles and stuck them into her acupuncture points.
The needles were unusual-they made a crisp, pleasant sound as they went in, and a faint wisp of smoke curled around them, quickly neutralizing the drug.
Elina's clear, bright eyes fluttered open, and she saw the brother she'd been longing for day and night.
The man was none other than Jordan Sowden!
"Brother, you're here?"
"You saved me?"
"Thank you so much!"
She was still as beautiful as ever, her voice soft and familiar, her greeting full of warmth and affection.
But Jordan just frowned, stared at his sister, and shook his head. This wasn't what he wanted to hear.
His sister was acting strangely. She knew Cristian was trouble, yet she chose to dine and drink with him here instead of picking up Jordan, her most cherished brother, from prison.
"What's wrong, kiddo?"
"Are you embarrassed by your sister looking such a mess?"
"I was just playing along, had a couple of drinks, and somehow ended up drunk!"
Elina tried to maintain her act, wanting to appear fallen and vulgar in front of Jordan.
So when she saw Cristian getting the beating of his life from Jordan, she suddenly let out a sharp scream.
"How could you do this? He could be your future brother-in-law-he promised to marry me!"
Jordan put his hand on her forehead to make sure she wasn't out of her mind, then said coldly, "Stop fooling yourself. You're not cut out to be a bad girl. If you actually liked scum like him, you wouldn't be my sister."
Elina froze, realizing her brother had totally seen through her act.
She glanced at Cristian and felt so disgusted she almost wanted to puke.
Panicking, she tried to change the subject to Arianna Showyer.
"Where's Arianna? Wasn't she supposed to pick you up? Why didn't you two come together?"
From her question, Jordan detected something else.
Arianna hadn't volunteered to pick him up!
No wonder she told Vivian Zuniga it was time to get moving while they were escorting the Five Colors Sect leader to Sinos Prison.
"Did you ask Arianna to pick me up?"
Jordan was surprised Arianna came for him, despite their engagement lacking any affection.
Even more surprising was that Elina didn't pick him up herself.
Now it seemed his sister had always been thinking of him, counting down the days sincerely.
As for her not going herself and sending Arianna instead, it was intentional; her heart always held him dear-this was his sister, Elina Sowden!
"Jordan, you seem different, so much so that even I can hardly recognize you anymore!"
Elina avoided Jordan's sharp and intense gaze, growing more anxious.
She wanted to hide the truth from Jordan but ended up revealing even more.
Jordan smiled faintly, his expression softening. He realized he had been too aggressive, too demanding.
He could be that way with others, but not with the sister who had always adored him.
As for the questions lingering in his mind-why his sister acted this way, why she was so deliberate-he would have to learn slowly.
Jordan stood, intending to deal with Cristian Spears.
This reckless little tyrant, who dared assault his sister, almost succeeding, had met his end.
However, Elina quickly stopped him: "Jordan, you can't harm him. He's the eldest of the Spears family; we can't afford to provoke them!"
Can't afford to provoke them?
What was the little Spears family compared to them?
But to ease his sister's worries, Jordan decided to spare him. He merely found some drugs in Cristian's pocket and immediately fed them all to him.
If he dared to harm others this way, he should taste his own medicine!
Jordan and Elina walked out together, both with much to say but unsure where to start.
The critical question was, should they speak the truth or play dumb and tell lies?
At that moment, two figures approached-Arianna Showyer and Vivian Zuniga.
They came to find Jordan and invite him to a welcome home banquet Arianna had specially organized for him!
"Go ahead."
"Arianna is truly kind. I called her, told her you were getting out, and she flew back from thousands of miles away in Westoria to pick you up!"
"For that alone, she's been incredibly considerate. Don't hold it against her that she didn't come on her own but was reminded by me."
Elina urged and advised Jordan.
Since his sister said so, Jordan decided to give Arianna some face, squinting as he asked, "Is it really a banquet specifically for me?"
Once Arianna confirmed, Jordan nodded and agreed to go.
The three of them proceeded toward the banquet.
Coincidentally, the banquet Arianna organized was right here at the Grand Dynasty Hotel, in the Cloude Hall on the second floor-very convenient.
As they walked, Vivian hung back, trying to call someone over and over, but no one picked up.
Frustrated, she muttered, "Where the heck is Cristian? He said he'd be here, but he's not answering his phone! Where did he disappear to?"
Cristian? Cristian Spears?
Jordan blinked, a cold glint flashing in his eyes that no one else noticed. He muttered to himself, "Is this really for me? Doesn't feel like it!"
"Feels more like a setup to me."
Well, I'm already here-might as well see what happens.
Let's see what tricks they have up their sleeves.
Back in Sinos Prison, even the worst of the worst were terrified of him.
Entering the so-called welcome home banquet organized for him, there were already numerous young gentlemen present, none of whom Jordan recognized.
Each guy was holding a wine glass, acting all fancy and cracking jokes. When they saw them walk in, all eyes were on Arianna and Vivian-full of admiration-while Jordan just got smirks and side-eyes.
Jordan was supposedly the guest of honor, as Arianna claimed the banquet was for him.
But it was obvious this wasn't really about him.
Nonetheless, Jordan remained unfazed.
He could play along-he wasn't new to this kind of game.
Bring it on-let's see what you've got!
