Because of his wife's touch, Taylor Rathbone naturally assumed she wanted him.
Just as he was about to respond, his wife pushed herself upright and slipped out of bed.
Watching her head for the door, he asked, "Where are you going?"
"It feels stuffy in here. I'm going out on the balcony for some air."
Taylor didn't think the room felt stuffy, but he had been drinking, and she was already out of the master bedroom, so he let it pass.
The thought of strange men out there catching a glimpse of his wife's body made him swallow hard.
He lay there for about ten minutes, tipsy and drowsy, and drifted off.
Meanwhile, his wife, Lana Hayde, stood out on the balcony, letting the wind wash over her.
At first she pressed one hand to her skirt. Soon both hands rested on the railing, and she let the mischievous breeze flick her hem again and again. The area covered by her panties flashed in and out of sight.
After about half an hour, she returned to the master bedroom and went to sleep.
The next morning, as usual, she rose early to make breakfast.
Once it was almost ready, she called her husband to get up.
They ate together, and when she slipped into a black bodycon dress, they headed out.
He drove her to work.
After he pulled up at the main entrance of Prosper Tower and told her to have a good day and not to worry, Taylor steered the car toward the Water Resources Bureau.
When Lana, who worked as a bookkeeper, arrived at the office, plenty of male colleagues stared.
Most didn't dare stare; they only stole glances from the corners of their eyes.
They weren't admiring her face so much as her round, perky butt, the swell of her chest, and those long, toned legs.
You could say Lana was the sexiest woman in the whole clothing company.
Her supervisor had even dropped hints.
If she wanted to move up quickly, she only needed to make a tiny "sacrifice."
Lana knew exactly what that "sacrifice" meant, and she had never planned to betray her husband. She ignored the hint and did her best not to be alone with him.
She'd rather stay a cashier than trade her body for a raise.
She reached the Finance Department and took her seat at her desk.
At lunchtime, she went to lunch with a close friend and colleague, Blaire Saxon.
Unlike Lana's long, straight hair, Blaire wore her hair in big, wavy curls-and she had a great face and figure too.
Lana wore a bodycon dress; Blaire wore a strappy mini.
Lana had on light makeup; Blaire's was bold.
Different styles, same magnetic aura that turned most men's heads.
Lana ordered a tuna salad combo. Blaire chose a sandwich combo.
Halfway through, Blaire asked, "Why are you so distracted?"
Looking at her good friend, Lana let out a small sigh. "I don't even know if I should tell you."
"We're besties. Whatever's weighing on you, tell me."
"Will you keep it to yourself?"
"Of course."
Even with Blaire's quick promise, Lana hesitated to share what she had found the night before.
If Blaire slipped and told someone, how would people look at her husband?
But keeping it bottled up felt unbearable.
Most of all, she needed someone to help her think.
She lowered her voice. "Last night my husband went out with friends, and I was bored, so I opened his laptop to watch a movie. In the viewing history, I found those… not-so-wholesome videos."
Blaire chuckled. "Come on. You're a married woman, and this is what rattles you? Listen, almost all normal men have some of those on their computer or phone. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill. Honestly, if a man's devices don't have them, he either deleted them or something's off with him."
"So all men like watching that stuff?"
"Pretty much."
"But…"
"But what?"
"I don't know how to put it." Lana grimaced. "I know lots of men watch porn, but my husband's tastes are strange. He doesn't watch the common stuff. He only watches videos where two or more couples swap partners-partner swapping."
"Wow." Blaire let out a low whistle. "Your husband's tastes are hardcore."
"That's why I'm worried he'll try to drag me into it."
"I don't think so," Blaire said. "I've met Taylor Rathbone a few times. He struck me as decent, not the creepy type. Maybe he just likes watching those and never meant to act on it. You might be overthinking. Why don't you talk to him when you get home? I've always felt honest talk between spouses matters. Don't let it fester."
"And if he actually wants me to go along with it?"
"Ask yourself if you could live with that."
"I definitely can't. I'm not the kind of woman who sleeps around."
"If-and I mean if-he insists, then tell him you'll divorce him."
"He's actually a good man. I can't bear the thought of divorcing him."
"Then go try partner swapping with him. Let another man make you moan right in front of him."
The words painted an unwanted scene in Lana's mind.
She shivered. "I'll lay it on the line with him tonight. If he pushes me, I'll threaten divorce."
"That's the spirit."
"Thanks, Blaire. I know what to do now."
"Honestly, I think your Taylor is pretty great. If you two really split, I might just swoop in and take him off your hands."
"You're married too. Don't joke about that."
Blaire only narrowed her eyes and smiled.
"I'm full," Lana said.
"You ate a few bites. How tiny is your stomach?"
"Probably because I drank too much water before lunch."
"Then wait for me. When I'm done, let's check out the shops nearby."
"Alright."
When Blaire finished, the two of them took a quick look around the shops nearby.
By 1:30, they were back at the office.
Lana headed for the Finance Department. Blaire went to the Public Relations Department, and they parted ways.
Back in Public Relations, Blaire exhaled and leaned back in her swivel chair.
"Lana, oh Lana," she murmured to herself. "I really do think your Taylor's a catch, so much better than my husband. If you two really divorced, I'd want a shot with him. But you're my best friend. I don't want you ending up a divorced woman. So I hope you don't split."
After she finished talking to herself, the thought of Lana's husband watching those partner swapping videos nagged at her, leaving her a little uneasy.
What if, one day, Lana and Taylor actually tried partner swapping?
While Blaire's imagination wandered, Lana stepped into the Finance Department.
