The convoy rolled out of the garrison like a river of steel. Armored vehicles and tanks ran with their lights off, following signal markers, as they tore toward the exercise area. Daniel sat in an armored reconnaissance vehicle, drawing deep, steady breaths. "Don't panic. It's just an exercise, not real war."  Even so, his palms were clammy.
