When the bodyguards still refused to get up, Ezra Jauncy snatched a pistol off one of them and leveled it at another man. "Go," he said, voice flat. "If you don't, I'll shoot you dead right here." The bodyguard stared down the barrel and started shaking so hard his knees nearly buckled. He looked desperately to the others for help, but they were all drowning men themselves.
