The white fox saw Braxton Letherdale playing his instrument. It listened for a while, its ears twitching, then scampered off. This time the black cat did not chase it. It lay down obediently, waiting for roast rabbit.
After ten minutes or so, the rabbit was done, and the white fox came back. It held a flute in its mouth. No one knew what kind of bamboo it was made from. The whole body shone with a golden hue, strange runes etched along its length.
