Elara sat in a meditative cross-legged position, her palms hovering inches above the flickering orange tongues of the campfire. The heat was a dry, stinging pressure against her skin, the kind that made the air wobble and blur. She didn't pull away. Instead, she focused on the sensation, drawing the warmth into her pores and trying to make it part of her. The rest of the resting room in the Stonebrook Labyrinth was silent, save for the rhythmic breathing of her sleeping companions.
