Chapter 90

The narrow tunnel finally gave way to a broad, circular cistern. Kyle slowed his pace, his boots silent on the damp stone as he surveyed the area. A massive cross-shaped bridge spanned the center of the chamber, providing the only path across a deep, stagnant drop. Motion caught his eye. On the opposite side of the cistern, a rat scurried toward a pipe jutting from the left wall. As the creature entered, the pipe flickered, momentarily vanishing into thin air before reappearing a second later....
