At eleven that morning, Dora Juggins was having lunch at a restaurant downtown when she happened to spot Jade Quiney on a blind date. Dora casually swept a hand through her long, chestnut waves, then sashayed toward Jade with a seductive sway in her slender waist. "Dora Juggins?" Jade exclaimed when she saw her. Surprise flashed across her face, followed by an unmistakably strange expression. Dora pulled over a chair and sat down between them. She propped an elbow on the table and rested her chin in her palm. Instead of looking at Jade, she shot the man a flirtatious wink. "Are you two here on a blind date?" The refined young gentleman said nothing. His sharp, perceptive eyes studied Dora thoughtfully. Jade's face darkened. She glared at Dora, then repeatedly cast anxious looks toward the window. My name is Dora Juggins. I'm Jade's best friend, and I'm also the ex-girlfriend of her current boyfriend. My ex and I…" She paused, then smiled sweetly. "We broke up less than twenty-four hours ago. Do you understand what I'm saying? Or do you need me to explain how the three of us are connected?" Before the man could respond, Dora turned back to Jade. Her smile grew even brighter, even more beguiling. "Jade, didn't you say Shepherd Showyer was incredibly passionate and knew exactly how to satisfy you? What happened?
