Chapter 5

Words : 359 Updated : Sep 15th, 2026
After leaving Shepherd Showyer's house, Dora Juggins took her luggage home, then headed straight to a hair salon. She dyed her long, straight black hair and had it styled into voluminous waves. After that, she went shopping and bought several sexy dresses. Sexy had always been a style she wanted to try. She had only held back before because she was afraid Shepherd Showyer wouldn't be used to seeing her that way. Later, under the critical eye of Shepherd Showyer's mother, she had continued dressing conservatively. But with everything out in the open, nothing held her back anymore. After changing her hairstyle, buying new clothes, and visiting a beauty salon, Dora finally allowed herself to relax. She didn't tell Joy Zimmerman about the breakup right away. Joy had fallen off her electric scooter a few days earlier. She had slipped down a flight of steps, broken a bone, and remained stuck in the hospital ever since. The day after the breakup, Dora took the day off and planned to sleep as much as possible. Around noon, Joy called and asked her to buy porridge from a Chinese restaurant in the city center. Dora went over to get it for her. She never expected to run into Jade Quiney on a blind date. It was downright surreal. Jade had only slept with Shepherd Showyer the night before. By all rights, once Dora had stepped aside, the cheating pair should have gotten together. So how had Jade started going on blind dates less than twenty-four hours later? At first, Dora thought she had mistaken her for someone else. Then she pricked up her ears and listened carefully for a long while. There was no doubt about it. Jade was on a blind date. Dora deliberately walked over to make Jade uncomfortable. She never expected to bring a whole heap of trouble down on herself.
