After getting off work and returning home, the emotions I had been suppressing finally erupted. I questioned whether Jonas really needed to engage in those passionate kissing scenes with Crystal, or if he was just there for some other reason.
"Don't talk nonsense; it's all part of the job," Jonas said as he laid down on the bed and turned over.
I couldn't help but notice that, at some point, he had become more and more perfunctory towards me. Maybe in his eyes, his legitimate wife had turned into his de facto manager.
I lay by the edge of the bed, unable to sleep, casually scrolling through Weibo on my phone. Then, a trending topic caught my eye—Jonas and Crystal, entering a hotel together, their alleged romance exposed.
When did this happen? Has Jonas been cheating on me?
I pulled the person on the bed up and showed them the trending topic on my phone.
"What are you doing? It's just a publicity stunt. You know our new drama is about to air," Jonas said.
"As your manager, how can I not know about you buying into this kind of trending topic?" I retorted.
"This was orchestrated by Crystal's side; I can't do anything about it," Jonas replied.
"Then when are you going to publicly acknowledge our marriage? I don't want to see more rumors about you and other women," I said.
"Are you out of your mind? If I go public now, do you know how much it would affect my career?" Jonas scoffed at me and turned over to continue sleeping, dismissing my concerns.
Since Jonas became famous, he had taken on more and more acting roles. He often bypassed me and took on roles in mindless romantic dramas, which neither improved his acting skills nor avoided intimate contact with other actresses.
According to him, these roles paid well and were less demanding, which helped alleviate our financial pressure at home.
I couldn't deny being jealous, but I also couldn't step in and separate them. I had been by his side, helping him progress from an unknown actor to where he was today, and it wasn't easy.
If we were to make our relationship public, his career would be over, and that was something I didn't want to see.
However, this time, I wasn't planning to compromise any longer.
I touched my slightly protruding abdomen. Originally, I had planned to share the good news of my pregnancy with Jonas today, but his attitude felt like a bucket of cold water thrown on my head.
There were some things I needed to make clear.
I took out my phone and messaged Crystal.
"Miss Vogt, I'm Viola, Jonas' manager. Would you be available for a meeting tomorrow? Jonas has some messages he'd like me to convey to you."
