"Meow meow meow meow! Meow!"
The doctor looked at me in shock. "Mrs. Nolan, a cat's life and death are beyond our control. You don't need to be so sad."
I stared at myself, experiencing for the first time the height of a human, with hands and feet, standing on two legs.
"I... I've turned into a human!" I exclaimed with delight.
Colin and the doctor both looked at me as if I were crazy. Embarrassed, I instinctively covered my mouth.
Still not used to being human, I was quite excited. Fortunately, the cat on the hospital bed suddenly woke up, its cry drawing their attention.
"Meow~"
The cat looked at me, eyes wide with shock.
"Meow meow meow meow meow!!"
The doctor was dumbfounded. "Is it a resurrection!?"
Colin took a few steps forward with joy, giving the doctor an annoyed look at his words.
Realizing his mistake, the doctor quickly covered his mouth, but the cat on the bed was jumping up and down in agitation.
The doctor couldn't help but mumble.
Even as Colin carried my body away, I could still hear him muttering in confusion, "How can this be? The instruments clearly showed no signs of life. What's going on? It's still alive and kicking? Did I misdiagnose?"
Haha! I've swapped bodies with that wicked woman!
I covered my mouth with my paw and laughed secretly. Then I turned to the doctor and said seriously, "Doctor, I'm not Mrs. Nolan; I'm Mr. Nolan's secretary."
With that, I quickly followed Colin out.
Once in the car, I licked my paw to wash my face but stopped when I saw Colin's shocked expression in the rearview mirror.
Oops, humans don't wash their faces with saliva.
Vanessa, locked in the pet carrier and weakened by my frail body, had calmed down.
Carefully mimicking Vanessa's mannerisms, I asked, "Colin, is the cat okay? I feel a bit unwell after she bit me."
Colin immediately frowned and took out his phone to call the family doctor to bring rabies vaccines.
He really cares about Vanessa.
Looking at Colin's chiseled profile, my heart suddenly felt heavy.
But all these privileges used to belong only to my mom.
Does my mom know?
She must know; I immediately confirmed my thoughts.
No wonder she left so decisively that day.
