A fog lifted away from my mind and my eyes sharpened with realization. I stared at Alaric and Freya, dazed, wondering why they were both looking at me with eyes as wide as saucers. The gasped and screams erupting from the crowds sliced the air and threw me into a deeper state of confusion. Then it hit, a sharp but dull pain.
