Abner looked at Jocelyn with his more meaningful eyes.
Although there were not many opportunities for him to communicate with his daughter-in-law, in his impression, his eldest daughter-in-law was obviously a timid person. No matter judging from that she coincidentally knew Mrs. Ruskin or now she put forward to go out to work on her own initiative, she was absolutely not a timid person.
"Design Department?" Abner directly caught the odd place in her words, "Why do you choose the design department?"
Jocelyn was shocked and looked a little nervous that she had forgot to prepare the answer to this question.
"Dad, if she wants to go to the design department, let her go."
Julia suddenly interrupted, and reluctantly said, "You refused to buy me the car I like last time. Why do you buy her a car? Does she have a driver's license? Does she dare to drive? And does she live in if you buy her a house?"
Abner had always spoiled this daughter.Being interrupted by her, he had been dizzy.
On the other hand, Selena added jealously, "Since Jocelyn wants to go to work in the company, let her go. Didn't you say that she should get on well with Mrs. Ruskin? If Mrs. Ruskin knows she works in the company, Won't it be easier?"
In fact, she just said that by the way, but it complied with what Abner was thinking. So his eyes were bright and he said, "Yes, that's the truth."
After thinking over it, he promised.
"Well, if you want to go to work in design department, you can go. But the work as an assistant in the design department is very hard. You can still come back if you can't afford it."
Jocelyn looked happy.
"Thank you, Dad."
At the same time, the old man came back. The servants were busy with preparing the dinner and everyone moved to the dining room for dinner.
Because there was the hope on business affairs, Abner seldom submitted to the old master today. No matter how he scolded him at his business affairs, he always responded casually and compliantly. So all of them had a rarely harmonious meal.
At Night——
In the big bed of the bedroom, Jocelyn and Arthur lied side by side. They held their own quilts, but they were both sleepless and had their own thoughts.
After a long time, when Jocelyn turned over for countless times, Arthur asked her.
"What the hell do you want to do?"
Jocelyn was shocked slightly, "You even want to limit me not to turn over?"
Arthur showed an indifferent look.
"I'm talking about the thing you said to Dad before dinner
that you are going to work in the company."
Hearing his words, Jocelyn looked meditative.
"Didn't I say that I was bored at home and I wanted to find something to do?"
"You've almost cheated Dad."
Jocelyn turned around and just made an eye contact with Arthur. Immediately, she became nervous.
The man was meticulous, and he could see through any lies she had told. So she just looked at his eyes carefully and said in a faithful voice.
"If on one offends me, I will not offend him or her. What I have to do is just to take back what belongs to me. I can guarantee that it won't harm the interests of the Morrison family, so you don't have to waste your energy on this matter to find out the root of it."
"Take back what belongs to you?"
Arthur looked very wise and he directly pointed out the critical, "Is it related to Leonard family?"
Jocelyn looked a little nervous.
She didn't expect Arthur was so thoughtful that she hadn't taken some big actions, but he had already connected herself with Leonard family.
"What is your relationship with Leonard family?"
"You have thought too much. Leonard family?" Jocelyn avoided his eyes, denying, "I have no relationship with Leonard family."
"Jocelyn."
Although calling her name, it seemed that Arthur was talking to another person, "Since you came back, you've been acting in front of everyone. What are you doing?"
No one could easily believe that there was a rebirth in the world, so although Arthur had thought carefully, he could not imagine the truth of two personalities behind one face.
Jocelyn calmed down.
"Life is like a play. Everyone is fighting for acting, aren't you?"
Arthur looked calm, but he suddenly clasped his hand against his thigh under the quilt. This was his habit when his mind was in the guarding state. Originally, in the army, he was holding a pistol which he took with him all the year round.
"Since we don't influence each other, we should not expose each other."
Jocelyn changed her expression and yawned as if nothing had happened. She nested in the quilt and muffled, "It's not early, go to bed."
Arthur, leaning over his pillow, saw her back of the head with his head tilted. There was a sense of inquiry in his quiet eyes.
He began to feel that the woman was interesting.
He couldn't guess how much she knew, but even if she knew a little bit, why did she always look silly and cowardly in the past? Was it just for the sake of being wise for personal survival?
It was in Jocelyn's expectation that two days after the auction, Mrs. Ruskin asked her out for afternoon tea.
After seeing several jewelry concept maps designed by Jocelyn, Mrs. Ruskin couldn't being surprised.
"You said that you are not professional in jewelry design. I don't believe. if you only do this amateur, then you will be almost the genius of the jewelry design industry. There are so many people who do not have this talent."
Jocelyn looked modest, "I just painted for fun and never really made it. In fact, there is a jewelry designer in Yanjing whom I like most. The jewelry she designed really blends the classical and the fashion."
"Who is it? I know almost all the famous designers in Yanjing."
"She... She has not been alive. She accidentally died not long ago."
Jocelyn looked a little dim.
Mrs. Ruskin's smile condensed at the corner of her mouth.
"You're talking about... Joanne Leonard ."
"You've seen the news, too." Jocelyn sighed softly, "It's a pity that she's still very young and just in her early twenties. She has such a good design talent."
"It's more than a pity."
Mrs. Ruskin looked a little sad, "She's the most intelligent girl I've ever seen in jewelry design. She can come up with great ideas one after another..."
Jocelyn tolerated her frustration and pretended to be surprised, "You know her."
"She's a good friend of mine. Although we have a big gap in the age, I'm afraid I can't find a second person like her who is close to me."
When mentioning Joanne Leonard, the sadness in Mrs. Ruskin eyes was true.
Jocelyn grabbed her palms secretly, resisted the impulse of crying and forced herself to swallow back all her tears. She asked softly.
"I read the news before that she was about to get engaged and the invitations have been sent out. If it hadn't been for this accident, she would have been very happy now."
"Happiness?" Mrs. Ruskin curbed her mood abruptly and looked grim.
"I don't think so. The man she likes is Stan Judd, the president of the Leonard Group. He got married soon after the accident happened to Joanne. He is so shameless to set up a spoony figure in the news, saying that he was looking for his wife with a huge wealth."
Jocelyn frowned, and said meaningfully.
"That's weird."
