Nathan's scolding left Sophia feeling quite aggrieved. It was clear that this was all due to Victor's stubbornness! They had no regard for Maxwell at all!
If they were to choose, they would naturally pick someone like Jaxon as their son-in-law!
Peter had already called, explaining the reasons for going to Skyward Bank.
Having arranged a time with Jaxon, Peter hurriedly set off.
They met at the entrance of Skyward Bank, where Peter spoke first, "Mr. Wade, the situation at the group is far from optimistic. Every day counts."
"Yes, I understand!" Jaxon chuckled. "I've already talked to my dad, and he's willing to help. I reckon he's already called Justin. Let's go in."
"All right! Thanks to your help, Mr. Wade. Abigail will thank you properly later. This should have been his job."
"No rush," Jaxon smiled. "Abigail drank a lot. She should rest."
"Mr. Wade, you're indeed understanding."
...
At the front desk, they announced their identities. Upon hearing they were from the Jerome family, the receptionist immediately let them through, with a very polite attitude.
Finally relieved, Peter could tell that the Wade family's call had worked.
Jaxon was also very pleased, his smile never fading.
What surprised Peter even more was that Justin was waiting for them outside the office.
"Hahaha, Peter!" Justin grinned broadly. "Come in! I've taken care of everything for you. Let me explain the situation to you inside."
With that, he glanced at Jaxon, then ignored him, and ushered Peter into the room.
Jaxon intended to greet Justin but received a cold shoulder, leaving him feeling puzzled. He sniffed the alcohol on Justin and realized he must have been drinking excessively, his mind not fully clear.
Once inside the office, Justin poured Peter a glass of water and still didn't acknowledge Jaxon. Jaxon felt annoyed seeing Justin acting so unprofessionally due to being intoxicated.
"Peter!" Justin said with a smile, "I've taken care of this trivial matter for you. Come, let me explain the situation to you. No-interest loan of 3 million and a five hundred thousand dollars high-tech fund to support."
Peter was stunned, thinking he must be dreaming. "No-interest loan? Fund support?"
"Hahaha, indeed! Your project this time is excellent! The industry is looking forward to it!"
"Rest assured, I'll release the funds for you as quickly as possible! Either tomorrow at the earliest or the day after tomorrow at the latest!"
"Our cooperation will reach new heights in the future!"
Peter was moved to the verge of tears. He had thought there would be some persuasion involved, but it went so smoothly. He glanced gratefully at Jaxon, thinking how fortunate it was that Jaxon had intervened. Why shouldn't someone like him be the son-in-law of the Jerome family?
"Mr. Martell, I'm truly grateful! You've done a great favor for our Jerome family!"
Justin waved his hand repeatedly.
"Don't say that! Supporting excellent businesses is also our responsibility!"
"If you encounter any difficulties in the future, be sure to come to me!"
"Oh, why didn't you about your daughter's engagement? That's quite thoughtless of you!"
"Huh?" Peter was taken aback, feeling embarrassed. "You knew about it?"
"Hahaha! Of course! I must congratulate you, Peter!"
"You've found a fortunate match for Abigail!"
"He's talented and well-connected! He's absolutely a young talent in Delington!"
"I'm somewhat envious! Unfortunately, I don't have a daughter, otherwise, I would compete with you, Peter."
Peter's expression was a mix of emotions as he stared blankly at Justin.
Was Justin talking about him?
Was he praising that country bumpkin, Maxwell?
Talent?
Connections?
Did Maxwell possess any of those?
If Jaxon had a daughter, Peter would gladly give that country bumpkin to him in an instant!
Suddenly, Peter's heart stirred, and he glanced at Jaxon.
It dawned on him!
So it was about Jaxon!
Justin must have misunderstood.
It was understandable for the Wade family to be so concerned about the Jerome family's affairs.
Let the misunderstanding stand!
So, Peter chuckled and said, "Mr. Martell is just joking. Marriage is a serious matter! When it's time for the wedding banquet, Mr. Martell must attend!"
"Definitely!" Justin said, while giving Jaxon a strange look.
What was with this guy?
Jaxon was grinning from ear to ear like a fool!
Wasn't he talking about the Jerome family's son-in-law? Did Jaxon have anything to do with it?
Could it be that Jaxon introduced Maxwell to Abigail?
Hmm... that was a possibility.
Jaxon was smiling genuinely from the heart. He also thought Justin was praising him, and Peter didn't deny it. This indicated that Peter also believed he was more suitable than Maxwell to marry Abigail!
...
After Peter and the others left, Justin finally breathed a sigh of relief. Since the Jerome family came to arrange the loan, it meant the previous incident had passed, and he had finally passed the test!
He picked up his phone, thought for a moment, and dialed Maxwell's number.
Maxwell had just left Nora's house and saw Justin's call coming in, but he couldn't be bothered to answer, so he hung up directly.
Not long after, Justin's text came, detailing the Jerome family's loan and support fund.
Maxwell replied with a "got it" and ignored it.
He really couldn't be bothered with such a clown.
Taking a taxi back to the Jerome family, he was met with Sophia's sour face.
He had intended to ignore her, but Sophia took the initiative to pick a fight.
"Oh, back from the banquet? Tell me, what was Chief Harrison wearing today?"
Maxwell remained indifferent. "It's none of your business."
Sophia jumped up like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.
"What's with your attitude? You uncultured thing!"
"I really don't understand what he sees in you!"
"You're useless, someone who just eats for free!"
"You, country bumpkin! Spineless!"
Maxwell simply ignored her and went upstairs.
He coincidentally ran into Abigail coming downstairs. She had rested for a day and was feeling better. She had just taken a hot bath, her pretty face slightly flushed, making her look very enticing.
Maxwell licked his lips inwardly. Although Abigail was sometimes silly, she was indeed beautiful! He smiled slightly at Abigail. "You don't need to worry about the loan anymore. It's been taken care of."
"Taken care of?" Abigail was surprised. "So it's done so quickly? Then my issue with Justin is resolved?"
"Yeah, it's sorted."
Just as he finished speaking, Peter and Jaxon returned.
As soon as they entered, Peter excitedly said, "Today was the luckiest day! Thanks to Jaxon's help! Justin not only granted us the loan but also with no interest! And there's even a support fund!"
Abigail couldn't help but ask, "Dad, did you go to arrange the loan?"
"Yeah, I just went with Jaxon. He made arrangements beforehand, and Justin was very enthusiastic!" Peter smiled. "Abigail, you must thank Jaxon properly."
"Oh..." Abigail looked at Maxwell, and her gaze turned colder.
Maxwell deliberately said the loan was sorted, as if it were his achievement. He was shameless!
