Several days later, the day Alexander Xu had been waiting for finally arrived.
After dinner, Brandon Li received Alexander's order to pick up some cargo at the docks at dawn. What the cargo was, he had no idea.
"Brother Brandon, what kind of cargo are we picking up for Young Master Xu here? Why is it so secretive? It's not drugs or something, is it?" Big Bear asked in a low voice, lying next to Brandon.
His concern wasn't unfounded; this mission was shrouded in mystery. It was nearly two in the morning, and their brothers were scattered at every intersection on guard. Anyone approaching the warehouse would be killed on sight. Meanwhile, they were waiting in a heavy truck, clueless about the cargo they were supposed to haul.
"Idiot!" Brandon shot him a look. "Does Young Master Xu, with his wealth, need to play with such stuff? Just stay put and wait for his orders!"
Big Bear glanced at Brandon and fell silent, but he couldn't help feeling uneasy. If Alexander was really involved in drugs or smuggling, then they were aiding and abetting a criminal!
"Brandon, the cargo is here. Drive to Warehouse No. 2 immediately. Remember, you only have ten minutes! Don't open it on the spot; haul the cargo back to base first!" Amidst their silence, Brandon's earpiece finally crackled with Alexander's order.
Their 'base' was actually the Golden Shield Security Company. Perhaps because they all came from the military, they were more accustomed to calling it a base. Eventually, even Alexander started using the term.
"Let's go!"
Upon receiving the order, Brandon started the truck and floored the accelerator, racing towards Warehouse No. 2. Alexander had made it clear: they only had ten minutes. If they couldn't complete the task within that time, they would be in big trouble.
When they drove into the warehouse, they saw dozens of large black wooden boxes neatly stacked inside. Each box was about one and a half meters tall and nearly two meters long.
Big Bear tried to move a box with all his might, barely managing to budge it. Seeing his struggle, Brandon couldn't contain his frustration and slapped him on the head, scolding, "Idiot, use the forklift!"
They would never be able to move all those heavy boxes in ten minutes, let alone by hand. What was Big Bear thinking, trying to move them manually without using the forklift?
Big Bear then hurriedly operated the forklift, and together with Brandon, they quickly loaded the cargo onto the truck. Thankfully, it was a large heavy truck; otherwise, it couldn't have accommodated or even moved with such heavy cargo.
Finally, they loaded the truck and drove out of the warehouse. Due to the heavy load, the truck moved slowly.
Alexander watched the truck leave from a distance, finally feeling relieved. Those ten minutes were the gap between shifts of the nearby patrol team. If they couldn't load in time, it would cause some trouble. He ordered the others to retreat and followed the truck in his car, cautiously checking for any tails.
Safely back at the base, Alexander left some men on strict guard outside and approached the truck.
Brandon was already organizing the unloading of the cargo, carefully stacking the boxes in the warehouse.
"Come on, let's see what we've got! To dispel your suspicions!" Alexander knew many had doubts about the mission.
He walked over, grabbed a crowbar, and pried open a large box, revealing four smaller boxes inside. Anyone who had been in the military would be familiar with such boxes.
"Young Master Xu, are these all arms?" Brandon's voice trembled slightly. A truck full of arms – what exactly was Alexander planning?
Alexander nodded and opened one of the smaller boxes, revealing five brand-new automatic rifles, their dark bodies emitting a cold aura. He casually picked up a rifle, skillfully dismantled it into parts, and then reassembled it. Indeed, all top-notch!
"Scared, are you?" Alexander put down the reassembled gun and sneered, "If you're frightened by this, you're really not up to the task!"
"Young Master Xu, what exactly are you planning with all these arms? Don't you owe us an explanation?" Big Bear demanded angrily, his eyes wide.
Before, they wanted good weapons, but now, faced with them, they were scared! Even if they were retired soldiers, they were still soldiers at heart and would never join forces with terrorists. At that moment, Big Bear began to see Alexander as a terrorist.
"Do I owe you an explanation?" Alexander's face turned cold as he scanned the group: "Remember, I need you to become the kings of the underworld! Tianhai City is just the first step! If you can't meet this requirement, I'll find replacements!"
"Kings of the underworld?" Everyone looked at Alexander in confusion.
"There are places in this world the sunlight can't reach. In these places, there's no justice, so you need to bring it to them!" Alexander stated flatly.
"You're not a terrorist, Young Master Xu?" Big Bear didn't quite understand Alexander's words but got the impression he wasn't a terrorist.
Suppressing the urge to hit him, Alexander scolded, "If I were a terrorist, would I recruit you idiots?!"
No wonder everyone was looking at him that way – they thought he was a terrorist! How ridiculous!
Big Bear didn't understand, but Brandon did. He realized Alexander wanted them to become enforcers in the shadows. Remembering how much Alexander trusted them, Brandon felt ashamed of his suspicions and stepped forward, saluting Alexander, "Young Master Xu, I'm sorry!"
"Don't apologize to me! If you don't meet the standards, I'll still replace you!" Alexander tossed the crowbar to Brandon, "Open all the boxes!"
With Brandon leading, everyone joined in opening the boxes. Only five large boxes actually contained weapons; the rest were full of ammunition. Without enough ammo, these weapons would be less effective than knives!
"This one's mine!" Big Bear quickly grabbed a small box from another crate, made of high-quality plastic, not wood. He barely glanced inside before clutching it tightly to his chest.
Seeing Big Bear's reaction, Brandon knew it was something valuable and quickly grabbed another small box. Inside was an unassembled, brand-new Barrett sniper rifle!
Alexander casually glanced at them, knowing there was a catch. He smiled, "You two can't even assemble these guns. What use are they to you?"
He wasn't underestimating Brandon and Big Bear. He doubted anyone here, besides himself, could assemble those guns.
"Young Master Xu, Barrett may be precious, but we've handled it before!" Brandon smiled and began assembling the rifle on the ground. He had encountered Barrett sniper rifles in the military and was confident he could handle it.
Initially, the assembly went smoothly, but as the rifle neared completion, several parts didn't seem to fit. Unconvinced, Brandon dismantled and reassembled the rifle more slowly, taking twice as long, but still couldn't fit the parts.
"This rifle's been modified!" Brandon finally realized, shocked that anyone could modify such a weapon. He had never seen anyone successfully modify a Barrett in the military!
Alexander smiled slightly, knowing King Kong, that rascal, was showing off. In terms of weapon modification, he had never seen anyone better than King Kong.
He squatted down, took the parts from Brandon, and quickly finished assembling the rifle. Soon, a complete sniper rifle lay before them, not a single part missing! Meanwhile, Big Bear was still struggling.
Brandon skeptically operated the bolt. The crisp sound confirmed the rifle's functionality. Now more curious about Alexander's identity, he wondered who he really was. A so-called wastrel who was actually a super expert, aware of Dragon Group, and now a firearms expert?
While Brandon pondered, a soldier nicknamed "Swift Blade" handed Alexander a note found in the last box.
The note read: "Friend, consider the contents of this box a small token from me. Looking forward to our next collaboration!" The message was also translated into English below.
Alexander smirked at the note. King Kong, that arms dealer, trying to act cultured! He approached the box, curious about the 'gift'. Judging by Swift Blade's expression, it must be something good.
"Damn!" Seeing the contents, Alexander couldn't help but curse.
Inside the box lay two shoulder-launched missiles...
In the end, Alexander had the missiles buried. They were great to use but would bring endless trouble afterward.
The arms were mainly to strengthen their firepower. Their current strength couldn't yet replace the advantage of firepower. Once they reached a certain level, these arms could be retired.
After understanding Alexander's intentions, everyone set aside their doubts and went to rest. After a tense night, it was time for a good sleep.
