chapter 8 Olivia Lin who lost everything

"Eric Chu, what... what's wrong with you?" Olivia Lin walked up, asking with concern.
"Don't, don't call me, you... you stay away from me!" Eric Chu looked at Olivia Lin approaching him, he was on the verge of tears.
"Miss Lin, from now on, let's not have any contact. I, Eric Chu, have already been dismissed. I'm really not worthy of you!"
Eric Chu looked at Olivia Lin imploringly, then he left. He didn't have the courage to have any more involvement with Olivia Lin.
"What? You've been dismissed? Hey, don't go, what about the discussion we had about purchasing the products?"
Olivia Lin panicked.
"I can't help you with that matter. Please don't contact me anymore. You should find Alan Xu!"
Eric Chu couldn't understand. With a husband as wealthy and influential as Alan Xu, anything could be easily resolved. Why would she seek his help?
With just a word from Alan Xu, not to mention millions of dollars, even tens or hundreds of millions were just a trifle!
Of course, he couldn't understand even more why Olivia Lin divorced Alan Xu. He learned from Emma Chen that it was they who forced Alan Xu to divorce.
If that was true, how foolish were Olivia Lin and her mother, Emma Chen?
After saying this, Eric Chu left as if fleeing, paying no attention to Olivia Lin and Emma Chen's calls, never looking back.
This left them, who were full of hope, completely stunned in their tracks.
They had thought that Alan Xu would be the one kicked out by Eric Chu, making her understand the consequences of hypocrisy. But reality slapped them in the face.
Alan Xu not only had no trouble upstairs, but Eric Chu was the one who got dismissed!
This dramatic turn of events was beyond their wildest dreams!
Without Eric Chu's help, the batch of high-end tiles they held had no market. Their solemnly promised future projects were a complete failure!
They couldn't possibly explain this to the elderly lady at home. If they failed, they would not only suffer a loss of six million, but also their status in the family would plummet...
All their beautiful prospects would be no more!
"All the idle people, don't stay in our company, get out!"
While they were still pondering, the security guards who had just escorted Eric Chu out immediately kicked them out as well. Because these guards knew that Olivia Lin and Emma Chen were partners of Eric Chu, that they were naturally of no good intention.
Being kicked out of the company for two consecutive days, Olivia Lin felt utterly ashamed. She was unwilling, but still drove away with Emma Chen.
Whenever she sat in her self-earned Mercedes-Benz E-Class before, Olivia Lin would feel incredibly indulgent. But now, it only brought an overwhelming sense of pressure. It made Olivia Lin feel like the world had turned dark, and she felt completely trapped.
How had it come to this?
Wasn't it said that leaving Alan Xu would make everything better?
Why was it getting worse and more disappointing?
However, when she thought of Alan Xu, she suddenly slammed on the brakes, the car stopping in the middle of the main road.
She seemed to have grasped the key to all these changes!
That key was Alan Xu!
Before entering the company, Eric Chu was still aggressive about firing Alan Xu, as Eric Chu could have helped them buy the batch of high-end tiles.
But after he and Alan Xu entered the company, he was the one who got fired, while Alan Xu didn't show up.
Eric Chu was even too scared to approach her.
There was only one possible explanation for this outcome: Eric Chu intended to fire Alan Xu but failed, and instead, Alan Xu fired him.
But how was this possible? Alan Xu was just a low-level employee. How could he have the power to fire the General Manager of a corporation?
However, when Eric Chu was leaving, he mentioned talking to Alan Xu about the project. The meaning was clear: in his eyes, Alan Xu had the ability to help them.
And the confident demeanour Alan Xu had when facing Eric Chu's attempt to fire her...
Wasn't that evidence that Alan Xu had wealth and influence?
Or perhaps Alan Xu was the new owner, or he had a close relationship with the new owner!
Thinking of this, Olivia Lin's face turned ugly. She once again thought of the idea she had previously denied, that Alan Xu was a wealthy man, and that her career was all thanks to his help.
Otherwise, how could this situation arise?
And even Bert Shen had cut off cooperation and claimed not to know her!
No, no, no!
Absolutely impossible!
If Alan Xu really had such wealth and status, how could he become a door-to-door son-in-law?
For a whole year, he had allowed them to bully him, and even scolded him?
But the events of the past few days, how could they be explained? Olivia Lin felt like she was going crazy!
Desperately honking her horn, letting out her frustration!
"Olivia, what's wrong?" Emma Chen wasn't heartless, she still cared for her daughter, and asked in a hurry.
"Mom, about these things, does Alan Xu have any connection? Is Alan Xu really a wealthy and influential person!" Olivia Lin suddenly grabbed Emma Chen's clothes, pleading for the correct answer.
"Why are you thinking wildly again? How could these things possibly be related to that useless Alan Xu? Have you ever seen a wealthy and influential person ride an electric scooter to work?" Emma Chen was very exasperated. "That McLaren woman from before was definitely hired by him, because he knew we were going to the Civil Affairs Bureau too, so he made preparations in advance. But today, he didn't know we were coming to Jiutai Group, so he didn't prepare, and just rode his shabby electric scooter to work. That's his true situation, he's still a loser!"
"Then, how did Eric Chu, the perfectly fine General Manager, end up being kicked out after going in with Alan Xu? Why did he say that Alan Xu could help us?" Olivia Lin urgently wanted an explanation.
"Isn't it simple? Their company got a new owner! The first thing they do is eliminate dissent and cultivate their own power. Maybe that boss is jealous of little Eric Chu's talent, so he got rid of him. As for why he said Alan Xu could help us, it's definitely because that useless Alan Xu has buttered up the new boss, otherwise where would she get the courage to be so arrogant with little Eric Chu?" Emma Chen shook her head disdainfully. "Silly child, that loser can't possibly be a wealthy woman. Don't overthink it. A loser like her is never cut out to be rich, not even in the next lifetime!"
"Yes, yes, Mom, you're right! A wealthy person could never ride an electric scooter to work. Besides, a wealthy person would never serve us like a dog!"
Hearing Emma Chen's explanation, the emotionally charged Olivia Lin, as if grasping a lifeline, couldn't possibly accept that everything she achieved was thanks to Alan Xu's help.
Those stories about tycoons wearing slippers and riding electric scooters were just internet jokes. She had never seen it in her life, it simply couldn't exist!
Today, Alan Xu had no idea they were coming to the company, so he rode his electric bike, revealing his true colours!
He was still just a loser, a waste!
Although she had come to terms with all this, the pressure of the batch of high-end tile products still hung over her mind. It suffocated her, and even made it hard to breathe. With Eric Chu being kicked out of the company, he couldn't help her anymore.
Fear begets what is feared. When Olivia Lin escorted Emma Chen home, just as she arrived at the company, the old lady from the Lin family actually called her.
"Olivia, is that project about to be finalized?"
Olivia Lin originally wanted to tell the truth, but hearing the elderly lady's voice full of trust, when the words reached her lips, she simply didn't have the courage to speak the truth. She could only pretend to be very confident and say, "Yes, Grandma, it's almost done. You just wait for the project to succeed and hold a celebration!"
"Olivia, you're doing very well. I have to say, among the younger generation of our Lin family, you have the best business ability. When the project is over, Grandma will personally host a celebration for you! In addition, just now I discussed with several elders in the family, and we decided that after this project is completed, you will be the biggest successor in our Lin family, just like Kevin!"
Upon hearing that things were about to be settled, the old lady from the Lin family was extremely pleased. She immediately informed Olivia Lin of the decision she had just made after discussing with several elders.
"Grandma, is that true?"
For Olivia Lin, this was a dream come true. Even if there was no chance of success for this project at all, she was so excited that she almost shouted it out.
"Silly girl, of course it's true. You deserve it." The old lady's voice came over again, and this tone was no longer as cold as before. It was like how she treated her own granddaughter.
"Thank you, Grandma. I will continue to work hard. I won't let Grandma and the family down." With the old lady's confirmation, Olivia Lin was even more excited.
"Yes, good granddaughter. Grandma believes in you. Grandma has a meeting to attend to right away, so I won't say more. Wait for your good news!"
Then, the old lady from the Lin family hung up the phone.
Listening to the beep on the other end of the phone, Olivia Lin felt a shock and excitement she had never experienced before. Grandma finally agreed to let her be the successor, and she was on the same level as Kevin Lin.
Kevin Lin was the eldest grandson of the Lin family, and had the closest relationship with the old lady. Before she rose to power, Kevin Lin was already the recognized successor of the Lin family. Now, saying that she was on the same level as him, it was clear that the old lady highly valued her, no less than Kevin Lin.
Moreover, Kevin Lin only knew how to please the old lady. In fact, his business ability was far below Olivia Lin's performance this year.
This meant that if she could maintain her original performance, then in the future, everything in the Lin Group would be hers.
In the past, when she hadn't risen yet, Kevin Lin didn't even bother to look at her. After she achieved results, he did everything he could to deal with her, even vowing that as long as he was around, Olivia Lin could never become the successor of the Lin family, no matter how good her performance was.
She now had the opportunity to slap him in the face.
This was an absolutely perfect reversal!
It would also make Alan Xu, that loser, understand how well she was doing without him!
Thinking of this, Olivia Lin's blood boiled, and she once again felt that what her mother, Emma Chen, said was correct. Leaving Alan Xu and not being burdened by her was indeed a good thing.
At this moment, she not only didn't feel a bit of oppression, but she also strengthened her confidence. The difficulties she encountered now were only temporary. She definitely had the ability to resolve them!
Her mythical performance over the past year was the best proof of her abilities!
Now, all she needed to do was complete this project, and she would be able to take over the Lin family.
Since Bert Shen and Eric Chu couldn't help, Olivia Lin decided that she wouldn't make a profit from this project. She would even be willing to incur a loss just to complete it.
As for the money lost, she would use her own savings to cover it. After all, she had earned quite a bit of money over the past year. Not only could she cover the losses, but she could even create some fake profits.
Although doing this would increase her risk, she thought that as long as she completed the project, the Lin family would be hers. She could achieve a real reversal and let that loser Alan Xu see how capable she was. In the end, it didn't matter.
Besides, she had many partners. If she sold the products at a loss, she believed they would sell out quickly. After all, those partners had chosen to collaborate with her because of her personal charm and strength. Now that the prices were lower than the cost, they had no reason to refuse!
So, she went to her secretary, Harper Liu, and said, "Tell the other partners that I can sell the products in this project to them at seventy percent of the cost."
After doing all this, she felt a weight lift off her shoulders and felt that the air had become much better. She elegantly made a hand-ground coffee and sat on the lounge chair, listening to classical music.
However, half an hour later, Harper Liu rushed in, looking flustered. "Miss Lin, something big has happened. Not only is no one willing to take the products in this project, but they also explicitly said that they want to cut off all economic ties with us. All previous projects we collaborated on are all cancelled!"
"What!"
Reality hit her like a thunderbolt, striking her head. Olivia Lin was completely stunned, and the coffee in her hand fell to the ground, spilling all over.
