I hang my head low, forcing myself to not turn around even though my heart is screaming for me to take one last look at her. The urge to see her beautiful face before I'm locked away again is too strong.
Walk away Jake.
I grit my teeth tightly and take my place in line, hearing the familiar buzz of the electric gates. My eyes briefly close for a second as I take the second to compose myself. When I open them, I mask my face over with a blank canvas, unreadable....
