“Honey?” The sound of my mom’s voice passes through my room door and into the bathroom.

I feel myself instantly release a deep sigh of relief and Francisco’s body becomes less tense.

I swallow the lump on my throat and let out another exhale, preparing myself to give a reply to my mom.
