Chapter 6: Am I the New Protagonist?

Like a lover's call in a lonely night, the moon answered my call. It's almost midnight.
It was giving me a perfect opportunity to set my plan in motion. Overall, I am not feeling anything out of place here. Thanks to my predecessor and me, being the authors of this world. 'The Nightinshade' was the name of the slave market from which Maria was rescued by the former Duke of Dimortyil. It's the same place where I would find the second heroine.
The name, 'Nightinshade' was derived from three words— Night, In, and Shade. They were the scums of society, which operated in the shadows. Slavery was their primary objective. Although they have their hands on drugs, kidnapping, and other illegal activities. In the book, OG Sharon employed the protagonist to clean them.
As a cunning and opportunistic man, the protagonist didn't clean them; instead, he employed them to spy on his enemies. Although he pretended that he wiped them out. This led me to think that Kelshin was the one who wiped out that scummy organisation and freed the slaves. At that time, my predecessor didn't think much of it and let him hog all the glory. Maria, who hated the organisation, was impressed by the protagonist. It led her to fall in love with him. Not only that but also, but he also got the second heroine as his knight.
Maria entered my room. She asked, "What can I do for you, Your Majesty?" I looked at her lazily. I was still in my sparring clothes.
"We are going out," I asked her instead. Maria's eyebrows twitched at my question. She nodded in affirmation. She replied, "Yes, Your Majesty."
Maria was a skilled archer. Her ability was 'Perfect Aim,' and this, when coupled with her magic, was very deadly for her enemies.
"Get ready then... I am giving you five minutes."
Maria nodded her head. Just as I thought that she would leave my room to change into her combat clothes, she asked, "If I may be insolent enough, Your Majesty... could you please tell me the reason for us to go out at this late hour?"
"You will find out when we reach there. Just get ready, will you?"
"I am sorry, Your Majesty." Uttering these words, she bowed and left the room.
22 is the date on which my novel officially started, but with me here... I believe that I triggered the plot the moment I entered this world. It's what happens in all the novels. But the question that arises— I am not the new protagonist, am I?
'Am I the new protagonist?'
[I can't tell you anything about that.]
I kind of knew that it wouldn't answer me. Ah... whatever.
'Can you at least tell me the location of the 'Nightinshade?' I need that information very badly.' I never described the Nightshade's location in the novel.
[Follow the map and you will reach there.]
A hologram map appeared in front of me.
[The red dot indicates your location, and the blue dot indicates your destination.]
As I was analysing it carefully, Maria entered the room. She was wearing a black-coloured combat suit. The suit was completely hugging her body, showcasing her curves to me. For a moment, I lost my composure. I blushed a bit while looking at her.
Maria frowned at me. She asked, "Are you alright, Your Majesty?" Her words took me out of my trance. I shook my head and composed myself.
I replied, "I am fine. Let's go." Honestly, Maria's beauty is really not something to be trifled with. Wise men were indeed correct. Beauty is a virtue of a woman that always leads to conflict among mankind. One side wants to protect it, even if they are sacrificing themselves. Whereas the other side wants to destroy it, no matter how much the cost is. Even if they lose themselves in the process, they won't regret it even for a single moment. Each man thinks that what they are doing will result in marking the ornament, which is called' beauty,' as his.
