At that moment, a young thug who had been following behind Henry approached him and whispered a few words in his ear. Henry's expression immediately changed, shifting between anger and uncertainty.
William Lin felt a faint sense of familiarity with the young thug, but he couldn't recall the specifics.
"Kid, I've changed my mind. I don't want to let you go now!" Henry declared. With a wave of his hand, his henchmen behind him all brandished knives and clubs.
There were still some onlookers in the vicinity, but upon seeing this, they scattered, fleeing the scene in fear.
"Get him! Whoever takes him down gets a piece of the lady!" Henry shouted, motivating his henchmen behind him.
In an instant, the henchmen behind Henry became excited and rushed towards William Lin. Such a beautiful woman wasn't something they encountered every day, and now they heard that Henry would reward the one who captured her.
Seeing the thugs with knives approaching, William Lin squinted his eyes and focused. He knew that even with his skills, he needed to be cautious in a fight involving weapons. He slowly reached for a chair behind him.
The lady who had been selling breakfast stood there, frozen and unsure of what to do.
Susan Su thought quickly and pulled out her phone. She remembered that Judy Li had recorded both their phone numbers last time, and when they reported the incident, she had called her. So Susan Su dialed Judy Li's number.
She hadn't expected these people to be so brutal, shouting and fighting openly on the street.
The first thug wielding a knife approached William Lin and swung it at him. William Lin used the chair as a shield and then followed up with a swift kick, sending the attacker flying backward.
However, the others behind him were fearless and continued charging forward.
Seeing the situation, William Lin grew concerned. Did Susan Su have such a powerful presence? It seemed he needed to take down the leader first; otherwise, it would be challenging. With determination in mind, he decided to take action and confronted the crowd.
William Lin moved like a fierce tiger, sweeping through the crowd. Anyone who got close to him was knocked down.
In no time, William Lin stood before Henry.
As William Lin charged towards Henry, a crowd of six or seven thugs lay sprawled out on the path he had taken.
Seeing William Lin's approach, Henry remained unruffled. He had a trump card, and that card was the burly man standing beside him, known as Big Mountain.
Big Mountain was his ace in the hole. Every time they engaged in a street brawl, Henry relied on Big Mountain to charge into the fray and wreak havoc on the enemy.
Years ago, when Big Mountain was selling his body by the street to bury his mother, Henry had taken notice of his strength. He gave Big Mountain a sum of money to ensure his mother's peaceful burial, and from that day on, Big Mountain had been loyal to him.
Henry often said that one of the best decisions he ever made in his life was helping Big Mountain. Big Mountain had never disappointed him; not only was he incredibly strong, but he was also a martial arts prodigy. If he saw someone else perform a move just once, he could replicate it almost perfectly.
Watching William Lin approach, Henry took a step back and ordered, "Big Mountain, step up."
Upon hearing Henry's command, Big Mountain moved forward and positioned himself in front of Henry.
William Lin, who stood at 1.8 meters tall, appeared somewhat diminutive in comparison to the colossal frame of Big Mountain.
Staring at the imposing figure before him, William Lin couldn't help but feel surprised. This man seemed to exude a certain aura.
In the ancient martial arts texts, it was mentioned that when a person's physical abilities reached a certain level, they would emit a distinct aura. Despite being faint, it was not to be underestimated.
No wonder Henry wasn't afraid. He had this trump card. Well, let's give it a try! William Lin thought to himself.
With determination, William Lin made his move and attacked the massive figure in front of him.
Thud!
William Lin's fist was blocked by Big Mountain, producing a tremor.
Unable to make headway with that attack, William Lin quickly launched another one.
The two of them exchanged blows, and William Lin found himself unable to gain the upper hand.
Watching from behind Big Mountain, Henry couldn't help but be surprised by how evenly matched William Lin was in combat with Big Mountain.
In the past, no matter how skilled the opponents were, whether they were martial arts masters or boxing champions, none of them could withstand Big Mountain's three moves. It seemed that he had underestimated this young man.
William Lin retreated a bit and realized that he couldn't win against the massive black figure through sheer physical combat. So, he decided to try using ancient martial techniques as described in the inheritance.
With that decision, William Lin activated his knowledge of ancient martial arts.
Big Mountain, feeling frustrated that he hadn't gained an advantage over the young man in front of him, let out a sigh and lunged at William Lin once again.
But William Lin, using his agility, skillfully dodged Big Mountain's attack and swiftly moved behind him. With a graceful motion, he executed a technique that was like lifting four ounces to counter a thousand pounds. He grabbed Big Mountain's arm and forcefully brought him to the ground.
With a resounding thud, Big Mountain's impact on the ground kicked up dust, leaving slight depressions in the surrounding area.
As Big Mountain fell to the ground, William Lin utilized a grappling technique to restrain the fallen man.
Despite Big Mountain's desperate struggles, he couldn't break free from William Lin's hold.
Seeing the burly man on the ground slowly losing his strength, William Lin released his grip and stood up, keeping his gaze fixed on Henry.
Henry, witnessing his ace in the hole being defeated, finally couldn't maintain his composure. His legs trembled as he knelt on both knees before William Lin, just five steps away.
?
William Lin was also somewhat surprised. Wasn't he acting tough just a moment ago? Why was he suddenly kneeling down?
"Big brother, I was blind and didn't recognize what was in front of me. Please spare me!" Henry begged while kneeling before William Lin.
"Weren't you quite tough just now? Now you're begging for mercy, but it's too late," William Lin calmly said as he approached Henry.
Henry watched as William Lin approached, and with each step, it felt like the Grim Reaper was drawing nearer. He was well aware of Big Mountain's formidable abilities.
Years ago, Big Mountain had faced over thirty attackers all by himself, armed with nothing but his bare fists, and only sustained minor injuries.
Henry had reached his current status mainly thanks to Big Mountain's prowess. Now, with Big Mountain defeated and the young man before him seemingly unaffected, how could he not be terrified?
"Big brother, I'll kowtow to you, okay? Please spare me! I promise I won't do this again, I'll be a good person," Henry said, immediately kowtowing.
Henry's group of followers, who had been accompanying him, saw this scene and were so frightened that they dropped their weapons and remained silent.
William Lin couldn't comprehend why a tough guy like Henry had relied on the burly man to carry out his deeds. He pondered for a moment and then turned to locate the man who had whispered to Henry earlier.
Pointing at the man and looking at Henry, William Lin asked, "What did that guy tell you to make you change your mind and attack immediately?"
"He wanted me to settle things quickly, or else it would be troublesome when the patrol arrived. That's why I changed my mind and decided to act right away," Henry replied.
William Lin then pressed his foot down on Henry's already kneeling knee.
Crack! Henry's knee bone shattered, and he cried out in agony as he collapsed to the ground.
"Will you talk now?" William Lin asked, his expression devoid of emotion.
Having seen the consequences of his own mercy leading to harm for himself and those around him repeatedly, William Lin's disposition had changed. In this dangerous society, he knew he had to be ruthless when dealing with enemies.
"I'll talk, I'll talk!" Henry hastily agreed, afraid of another brutal strike from William Lin.
