Mike suppressed his anger. A trace of ruthlessness flashed in his eyes. With a forced smile, he asked, "Hey Rowie, this guy next to you… is he a distant cousin?"
Rowena's expression remained impassive. The young man was Mike Cabell, son of Dave Cabell, CEO of Soar Group. He was dressed in a luxury brand outfit. Known as the typical playboy, Mike's private life was infamously messy, yet he persistently pursued Rowena.
Due to the ongoing business partnership between Soar Group and the Ximenez family, Rowena preferred not to escalate tensions.
Mike's interest in Rowena stemmed primarily from the Ximenez family's financial power. Though the Cabell family was considered a prominent family in Lotusville, there was an insurmountable gap between them and the Ximenez family, one of the city's four prestigious families.
Mike believed that winning Rowena's hand would grant him access to the Ximenez Group's fortune and elevate the Cabell family's status. For him, marrying a beautiful and wealthy woman was a huge profit.
After all, few men could resist a woman as stunning and enchanting as Rowena, except Mitchell.
Aside from Mike, many men in Lotusville shared the same interest.
There was even a saying among the locals. If a man married Rowena, he would become rich and famous.
While Nina, who was betrothed to Mitchell in a childhood arrangement, and Rowena were equally beauties in Lotusville's business circles, few men dared pursue Nina.
Although Rowena was known for her icy and aloof demeanor, Nina's temperament was cooler and her business tactics were more ruthless and unforgiving.
Thus, another saying spread in the city. Never pursued Nina, or she would break a man's legs.
A charming, cool-headed woman and an icy queen in the business world. Mitchell had quite a handful of women to handle.
Seeing Rowena's continued silence and tightening her grip on Mitchell's hand, Mike frowned and directly addressed Mitchell.
"Sir, may I ask who you are?"
"He's my fiancé, Mitchell Quinton."
Before Mike could finish his question, Rowena interjected, directly revealing their relationship.
Mitchell nodded innocently. He flashed a harmless smile, and added, "Yep, Rowie's my wife. Who are you to be giving flowers to my wife?"
Mike was stunned. He stared at Rowena in disbelief, forcing a smile. "Row… Rowie, it's not April Fool's Day. You don't joke with me."
Rowena's gaze remained indifferent as she replied calmly, "Mr. Cabell, I already have a fiancé. So please don't look for me again. Otherwise, my fiancé might get angry."
With that, she deliberately moved closer to Mitchell, wrapping her arm around his.
Mitchell felt Rowena's soft body pressed against him. His heart raced wildly.
Mitchell thought she had a nice figure. She would be great for raising a family. He thought marrying Rowena wasn't a bad idea.
As Mitchell's mind drifted, he remained oblivious to Mike who was in fury after hearing Rowena's words.
Rowena used Mitchell as a shield.
After all, Rowena had spent a billion to bring Mitchell down from the mountain. She couldn't let that money go to waste.
Mike's face darkened. He turned to Mitchell with a scowl, pulling out his wallet. "Kid, who are you? How much did Rowie pay to hire you as an actor? I'll give you ten times as much. Get out of my sight now!"
Mitchell honestly replied, "One billion."
"What?"
Mike staggered, nearly losing his balance. He looked at Mitchell furiously, exclaiming, "You little brat, are you mocking me? You're wearing cheap clothes. It seems you came from a village deep in the mountains. Do you even know what a billion is? No one in the city would dare to brag like this!"
Mitchell raised his eyebrows slightly. He was telling the truth. Rowena did spend a billion on him. He wasn't exaggerating.
He then turned to Rowena. She was leaning quietly against him, leaving all the trouble to him.
Mitchell leaned close to Rowena's ear and whispered, "Rowie, you tricked me by getting me down from the mountain. You're the same as you were ten years ago. You haven't changed at all. Oh well, since we're friends with benefits. I'll be your shield."
With only an elementary school education, Mitchell didn't understand the full meaning of "friends with benefits" and used it recklessly.
Rowena frowned when she heard it, suspecting he was intentionally flirting with her. It was obvious.
Mitchell then stepped in front of Rowena, arms folded, towering over Mike with a smirk. "Mr. Cabell, you want to pursue my wife, right?"
Mike sneered, "Kid, you do know how to act. Thinking you're Rowie's fiancé? Shut up! If you know what's good for you, take the cash and get lost!"
With that, Mike pulled out a wad of bills and tossed them at Mitchell's feet, clearly out of patience.
Little did he know that Mitchell had just seen a billion spent this morning, making the sum seem trivial.
Still smiling, Mitchell replied, "Mr. Cabell, if you're trying to win my wife over, you'd do better than handing her a bouquet of wilted flowers."
Swish!
A silver needle slipped from Mitchell's cuff and pierced into the bouquet of roses.
It was one of Quinton's signature moves, which was too fast for the average person to catch with the naked eye.
"Wilted flowers? These are roses imported from France. Wait, what?"
Mike looked down, horrified to see the bouquet in his hands wilting, shriveling up, and losing its life until it became a bunch of wilted roses.
Mike was confused. The roses, imported at a cost of thousands, had withered within minutes. It was absurd.
Glancing around in disbelief, Mike could only conclude that this had to be Mitchell's doing. Furious, he threw the withered flowers to the ground, his eyes flashing with resentment.
"You little punk, what are you playing at? My patience is wearing thin. I'll give you three seconds to leave Rowie alone, or else…"
Before Mike could finish his threat, Mitchell suddenly wrapped his strong arm around Rowena's waist.
Rowena froze, her delicate body tensing as she looked up at Mitchell, her eyes widened with surprise.
