"Hurry up, your husband will be back soon!"
"What's there to worry about? Benjamin is just a blind man. He can't see anything. Hovier, you're not afraid of him, are you?"
"That's true, haha."
"Hovier, about that contract..."
"Don't worry. If you satisfy me today, the $500,000 contract is yours."
In the dining room, a man and a woman were engaged in a secret affair by the table.
"Honey, I'm back!"
A voice suddenly called from outside the door, causing the two to freeze, and their actions abruptly halted.
The front door creaked open.
A tall man, wearing sunglasses and holding a cane, walked in.
He appeared to be in his early twenties, standing at about six-foot-two with a handsome face.
If it weren't for his blindness, he would undoubtedly be a perfect ten. A large bag of groceries dangled from his hand.
Benjamin, despite his lack of sight, navigated the home effortlessly.
He placed the groceries on the dining table and poured himself a glass of water, unaware of the betrayal happening just feet away.
Little did he know that his wife, Meena, was with another man on the other side of the table.
His sudden entrance made the two freeze, like someone had hit a pause button.
"Darling? Are you not home?"
After taking a sip of water, Benjamin called out again.
"Uh… I'm here, right in front of you!" Meena replied, her red lips barely moving, while Hovier tried to slip away.
She grabbed him, signaling for him not to panic.
"Oh my!" Hovier thought, giving her a thumbs up before resuming their affair, growing bolder by the minute.
"Oh, darling, haha, my bad. I didn't hear you." Benjamin smiled apologetically in Meena's direction.
"Why did you buy so many groceries today?" Meena asked, glancing at the large bag, her frown deepening.
"Today is my twentieth birthday," Benjamin replied with a grin.
"Darling, I have good news. At noon today, my eyes will finally be able to see. I'll be able to see what you look like."
"Oh...!" Meena gasped, her breathing growing heavier as Hovier continued, emboldened by the situation.
"Darling, what's wrong?" Benjamin asked.
"Nothing, just eating some spicy snacks. They're a bit too hot."
"Oh, okay!" Benjamin replied, though a hint of suspicion crept into his mind.
Could spicy snacks really be that hot?
Meena had always had a strong tolerance for spicy food. What could make her react like this?
But he didn't dwell on it. His thoughts were consumed by the excitement of regaining his sight.
Memories from four years ago began to surface...
Back then, he was just sixteen.
He was enjoying his meal when he encountered an old man who claimed he was a one-in-a-million genius destined for cultivation.
At first, Benjamin refused, wanting to enjoy his wealthy life in the city.
But when the old man shattered a mountain with a single slap, Benjamin believed him.
For three long years, Benjamin endured grueling training, eating nothing but herbs and pills, while his master feasted.
He learned geomancy, medicine, and cultivation, overcoming countless trials.
When his master finally allowed him to leave, Benjamin thought his life would soar.
But instead, his master sealed his senses, blinded him, and forbade him from returning home for a year.
Life was hard. He struggled to survive, feeling the harshness of the world.
Until six months ago, he met someone who delivered food to him every day at the same time and even helped him fend off those who bullied him.
Benjamin wanted to repay the person's kindness, but that individual never spoke.
Then, three months ago, a woman gave him a loaf of bread and said, "I like you. Will you marry me?"
That woman was Meena.
Benjamin was determined to repay her kindness, convinced that Meena must be a kind-hearted girl.
So, even though he couldn't see her and had no idea what she looked like, he still agreed.
The two got married, and he became the matrilocal son-in-law.
Over the past three months, he took on almost all the household chores—washing, cooking, and working tirelessly—just to ease Meena's burdens.
"Meena, thank you for everything," Benjamin said, excitement in his voice.
"Once I recover, I'll make sure the Sheraton family becomes the top in Jatonville. I'll ensure you live a happy life."
"Is that so? Well, thank you then. Only three minutes left until noon. I... I'm really looking forward to it," Meena replied, her voice hesitant.
Hovier, watching Benjamin with amusement, found the situation entertaining.
"Three minutes?" Benjamin clenched his fists, anticipation growing.
Three minutes until his life would change forever.
He would see again, return home, and finally reunite with his family.
Tick!
Tick!
Tick!
The seconds passed until the clock struck noon.
"Buzz!"
Suddenly, Benjamin's body shook violently.
In an instant, he found himself in a dim, shadowy space.
A priest suddenly appeared before him.
"Benjamin, we meet again!"
