All the warriors bore witness to the commotion in the sky.
Two giant Snow Vultures with fierce eyes, sharp steely claws, and two pairs of 30-meter outstretched wings descended, making raspy, drawn-out hissing sounds. These majestic beasts stirred awe among the warriors.
"That's a fierce beast of the Bone Reinforcement—the Snow Vulture. It lives atop the snowy mountains and feeds on broken bones. They only serve the innate spirits," many warriors murmured, amazed at the sight.
The Snow Vultures, with their thick white plumage, commanded respect and admiration, even from the masters of the three prestigious clans.
The strength of these Snow Vultures was far beyond human capability. For hundreds of miles around, only the powerful Soshill Sect could tame the Snow Vulture of the Bone Reinforcement to serve as a mount.
"Whoof! Whoof!" The beating of their wings stirred up the dust, making it hard to see.
The two giant Snow Vultures landed in the square, causing the temperature to drop sharply, thanks to their icy powers.
"My God, these fierce beasts can paralyze warriors of Blood Purification with their icy powers, let alone those of Dermal Fortification," shivered some warriors, feeling the sharp drop in temperature.
The two Snow Vultures settled in the square, ignoring the warriors of Stonebridge City. With relatively high intelligence, they disdained the weaker warriors.
Two women dismounted from the Snow Vultures' backs. They couldn't have been more different.
One wore a crimson red dress, her long black hair cascading to her wasp-like waist. She was exceedingly fascinating and charming, capturing the attention of every warrior. Her white skin and lovely features made her a captivating presence.
The other woman wore black, skin-tight clothing, but her face struck fear into everyone. A ferocious black birthmark covered the right side of her face, making her hideously, fiercely ugly.
Despite their differences, both women radiated arrogance. The warriors of Stonebridge City, including the masters from the three clans, dared not show any disrespect. They lowered their heads and shouted respectfully, "The warriors of Stonebridge City respectfully welcome the emissaries from Soshill Sect!"
"Cut the crap. The test begins. All disciples willing to participate, come forward. The only requirement is that you be under 17 years of age!" the lady in black commanded coldly, dismissing any niceties.
"Yes, yes, yes!" The clan masters hurriedly nodded and cleared a large space in the square.
"Disciples of Soshill Sect are like this. They command the noble clan masters of Stonebridge City to lower their heads with a single word," a caped man in the crowd muttered sarcastically.
It was Ryan.
"I will become as strong as them someday."
The lady in black raised her right hand, and a half-person-high shimmering ebony test stone appeared.
"That's a Storage Ring!" The eyes of all the warriors were drawn to the woman's right hand, where she wore a golden ring on her index finger. Greedy and envious eyes turned fearful as they realized the significance of the Storage Ring. "Only the legendary casting masters of Spirit Level can make such a tool. There's nothing like a ring that can store spiritual energy," some old warriors whispered, tearing up.
Casting masters of Spirit Level were even rarer and more valuable than innate spirits. It was almost a miracle to have just one casting master out of 100 innate spirits.
"All warriors under 17, hit the test stone with all your strength. Those who can leave a mark can become outer disciples of the Soshill Sect. Let's start!" the lady in black ordered.
Warriors rushed to the front of the black test stone, hitting it hard with their fists, creating deafening noises. Some were happy with their results, seeing the marks they had made, while others were disappointed.
A total of 60 warriors passed, half of whom were disciples of the three major clans. The lady in black was ready to announce the end of the test when Ryan spoke up.
"Wait a minute... I want to try!" Ryan shouted, removing his cloak to reveal his face.
"That's the good-for-nothing! The guy who got his spiritual meridian destroyed!" The warriors focused on him immediately.
"Ha-ha, once a genius, now a waste. What a great gap between the two!"
"Doesn't this loser know everyone's looking for him and trying to kill him? How dare he show himself like this?"
"Thief! Traitor! You betray the clan. How dare you come here to make trouble today? Pay with your life!" a middle-aged man behind Nelson shouted fiercely. It was Gabriel, the Chair of The Elders of Noel Clan, whose strength had reached the peak of Blood Purification.
Gabriel leaped at Ryan like a predator, his five fingers surrounded with scarlet spiritual energy turning into tiger claws aimed at Ryan's head. Affected by the peak of Blood Purification, Ryan was rooted to the spot. But he was prepared. The white token Maeve had given him was already in his hand.
As expected, when the white token was revealed, the charming woman and the lady in black showed interest. The lady in black acted swiftly, twisting her hands to form a white sword-light that shot in front of Gabriel, interrupting his attack. Gabriel fell to the ground, sweating. He knew the sword-light could have killed him.
"It's not your turn to kill someone here. Try that again, and die!" The lady in black looked at Gabriel coldly, warning everyone.
She grabbed the white token from Ryan's hand. "Now that you have the recommendation of the Chair of The Elders of Soshill Sect, you can become an outer disciple of Soshill Sect," she declared after verifying the token's authenticity.
"Thank you so much!" Ryan was elated.
The faces of the Noel Clan members turned purple with anger. They couldn't believe such trash had the approval of the Chair of The Elders of Soshill Sect. Gabriel, frustrated, winked at the disciples of Noel Clan.
Taking the hint, Aaron stepped forward first.
