"Falcon Claw!"
The spiritual energy of the fourth grade of Dermal Fortification surrounded Aaron's right palm, like an invincible eagle claw, aiming straight for Ryan's chest. His intent to kill was evident.
"Look! That is an advanced cultivation method of Ascetical Level, Falcon Claw. Once used, there will definitely be casualties. Aaron is truly evil! He's going to kill Ryan!" the warriors said, siding with Ryan once more.
"It doesn't matter if you have broken through the third grade of Dermal Fortification. I will kill you anyway!" Ryan yelled.
This was not a good time to kill Aaron. But if his life were on the line, he would counterattack with full force.
"I lost you once," Ryan shouted in his mind to his regained spiritual meridian. "But now that I've found you again, I'm counting on you!" This mental shout was a commitment to action, a focus, and a way to absorb spiritual energy through his spiritual meridian.
Ryan firmly believed his regained spiritual meridian was not ordinary. He suspected it might be a top-grade spiritual meridian that the world had never seen before.
As his black eyes turned blood red, Ryan channeled his strength into his right fist. Meanwhile, the reborn spiritual meridian inside him began to absorb the spiritual energy from the area, as if understanding Ryan's wish.
"Roar Blitz!" Ryan roared, attacking with the same method.
But this time, his Roar Blitz exploded like a bomb. The power he displayed was akin to that of the Ascetical Level at the advanced stage, rather than his true rank of intermediate.
The spiritual energy encircled Ryan, forming an indistinct shadow of a tiger against the sky. The apparition growled, terrifying onlookers and causing them to clap their hands to their ears in pain.
"Could he really possess such enormous power?" The warriors around him wondered, exchanging glances of disbelief.
They were as unruly as an undisciplined mob. The two emissaries from the Soshill Sect also seemed surprised, gaping at the young man in astonishment.
Although the other warriors were confused, the two messengers knew what was happening. They could tell Ryan had completed the Roar Blitz power.
Every method was categorized by how skillful a warrior was, requiring practice and ranked accordingly: minor and major achievement, completeness, perfection, and superbness.
An ordinary warrior could practice a method until moderately proficient. But to achieve greatness required a certain amount of perception.
Completeness could only be achieved by genius warriors. Perfection was attainable only by a genius with a natural understanding of the method. But that kind of genius seemed nowhere to be found in the Soshill Sect.
Superbness required a pure genius with noble blood and extremely high perception to reach the peak realm. But now, completeness of a cultivation method could be seen in a warrior thought to be trash without a spiritual meridian.
The lady in black and the charming woman exchanged glances, both wondering, "Who is he, really? This is impossible for someone with no spiritual power."
After some deliberation, the black-clad woman decided Ryan deserved a chance at fine cultivation.
"Ha!"
With a burst of a deafening shout, Ryan stomped on the floor, leaving two deep footprints. Then he struck Aaron again with a thundering blow.
Clash!
Everyone heard the crystal clear sound of bones shattering. The force of the clash hit the crowd, sweeping the dust into mini-cyclones and forcing them to shield their eyes from the grit.
When they could see again, the scene before them made them doubt their vision.
Aaron's right arm dangled uselessly like a broken branch—obviously, the bones in that arm were pulverized.
To make it worse, Ryan's fist had burst through Aaron's ribcage, leaving him gasping for breath. He couldn't even feel the pain of his ruined arm.
"Uncle... uncle, help me!" With a desperate look at Gabriel, Aaron rasped out the words and used the last of his strength. Then he breathed his last and died.
"No! Aaron!" Gabriel was enraged. He immediately ran to Ryan like a madman.
"You little bastard, how could you?!" Gabriel roared.
He gestured, and his hands were encircled with blood-red spiritual energy. His palm seemed to crack through space itself, and in the blink of an eye, it was about to come crashing down on Ryan's head.
But before he knew it, Gabriel flew away like a kite, spitting blood from his mouth and rolling over a dozen times in the square, half dead and unable to stand. The lady in black coiled up her spiritual lash, a ghost of a smile on her face.
Ryan was relieved to see that. The lady in black hadn't rejected him for lacking a spiritual meridian. Ryan guessed she saw something promising in him. If he could deliver a genius performance, it would draw her attention further.
Now that the lady in black had made her judgment known, she proclaimed, "I told you, anyone else who tries to interfere will die!" She squinted at Gabriel, who lay on the ground helpless, and snorted. Her hands were ready to strike again if needed.
At this critical moment, Nelson, the leader of the Noel Clan, stood up, words tumbling from his lips rapidly. "Gabriel was ignorant and foolish. Please forgive him, at least for his son, who is a new nominal disciple of innate spirits in your sect."
"Oh? Are you threatening me?" The woman in black sneered at Nelson's words.
"No! Never!" Nelson answered quickly, nervously, sweat dripping from his forehead.
"Humph!" The woman responded with a snort but didn't attack. Perhaps it was out of disdain or because Nicholas was their innate spirits’ new disciple.
"You're good!" She said casually to Ryan, turning to look at him.
"Thanks, Madam," Ryan said respectfully, rubbing his right arm, which was quite painful at the moment. Finally, he knew the crisis was over and he was safe, at least for now.
"So is Ryan making a comeback? He killed Aaron, who was a full grade higher than him." The neighboring warriors began talking about what had just happened.
"Maybe. But it looks like we can't mess with him anymore."
"Not necessarily. Remember, he lost his spiritual meridian. No matter how hard he trains, he might not ever surpass the fifth grade of Dermal Fortification."
"Ryan, you're one of us. How could you kill your family like that?" Nelson suddenly asked in a somber voice. As clan leader, he had to say something, even if it was useless.
"Well, there's that matter of the bounty on my head. If you're so big on family, why do that?" Ryan sneered. "And remember, murderers are meant to be killed!"
Waves of murderous intent emanated from Ryan, making them shudder instinctively.
"Ha, well said! But don't forget, you have to come back to the Noel Clan after your training," Nelson sneered.
It was obvious Nelson was reminding Ryan that his father was still in their clutches. Sure enough, upon hearing that, Ryan's expression turned fierce and dangerous again.
But Ryan answered with almost the same tone, "Remember, Nelson, life is full of ups and downs. Try not to paint yourself into a corner."
"Is that so?" Nelson said coldly, hearing Ryan's remarks. However, his interest in fighting had somehow been blunted. The resolute look reflecting from the young boy's eyes made him fearful.
"We're done recruiting. We've seen enough. You have four hours to rest and pack your belongings, then you go to the Soshill Sect with us," the lady in black said to the newly recruited disciples coldly.
