In the morgue of Norbia Community Hospital, Dante Casson placed both hands on a female corpse's chest, kneading it.
"Consider yourself lucky. Today, I am passing on my knowledge and reactivating your consciousness."
"Your souls have shattered. I'm snatching you from the grim reaper's hands. No one but me can save you."
Dante looked to be in his early twenties, with thick eyebrows and sharp eyes, exuding competence.
Yet, at this moment, he was mumbling under his breath while his hands moved in an eerie and unsettling manner.
As he continued, the female corpse suddenly sat up abruptly, only to fall back down just as quickly.
The two nurses who had just wheeled in the body were so terrified they froze, then turned and ran out screaming.
"Ahhh!!!"
"Security! Director! There's a corpse coming back to life in the morgue!"
"Dr. Grace, your crazy husband is desecrating a corpse!"
Dante ignored the commotion, swiftly pressing his hands on the GV-20 and EX-HN1 acupoints atop the woman's head using an unusual technique.
Then, he started pressing on her chest.
Before long, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed at the morgue entrance.
Hospital director Sebastian Johanson rushed in with several doctors and security guards, all panicking.
"You bastard! What are you doing? Let go of her right now!" Sebastian shouted furiously.
Dante turned his head but didn't stop his movements. "I'm treating her."
Many doctors at the hospital recognized Dante.
The mentally challenged husband of Grace Thubron, the hospital's number-one beauty doctor.
Everyone had long felt sorry for Grace—a stunning woman, married to a lunatic.
Now, that sympathy was at its peak.
Because the corpse in front of them was Sienna, the daughter of the Sabey family—the wealthiest family in Norbia.
She had suddenly died at the hospital that morning, and the Sabey family was already furious. If they found out her corpse had been violated, all hell would break loose.
Grace felt dizzy, nearly passing out. Dante had caused an unimaginable disaster.
Dante had been mentally ill for years. Since their marriage, his parents had been responsible for looking after him.
His parents had urgent matters today, so they left him at the hospital under her care.
She had only briefly left him at the nurse's station while handling an emergency patient.
Who would have thought he'd wander into the morgue and do something like this?
"Stop right now!" Sebastian roared, charging forward to pull Dante away.
Dante frowned and pushed Sebastian aside. "If I stop, she'll really die!"
Sebastian stumbled and fell onto his backside.
"This idiot! This lunatic! This psycho!"
"Did he think he was a doctor? Didn't he know he was insane?"
Glaring at Grace, Sebastian snapped, "Get your crazy husband out of here! Or do you want the Sabey family to sue all of us?"
Grace snapped out of her daze. "Dante!!!"
She rushed forward to pry his hands off Sienna's chest.
But the moment her palm touched Sienna's chest, she shuddered. A heartbeat. She could feel a heartbeat.
"She has a heartbeat!" Grace frantically checked again, her heart pounding in shock.
Sebastian froze, then quickly pulled out his stethoscope. After listening, he was utterly dumbfounded. Forgetting everything else, he shouted, "Quick! Get her to the emergency room!"
"I haven't finished treating her yet! You can't take her away!" Dante protested.
"Treat my ass!" Sebastian didn't believe for a second that Dante could cure anyone. He was convinced it had been a misdiagnosis.
Mistaking a living person for a dead one and sending her to the morgue. This was a catastrophic medical malpractice.
In a flurry of panic, the hospital staff wheeled Sienna away.
Only Grace and Dante remained.
"What the hell were you doing in there?" Grace was furious, wanting to unleash all her frustration on Dante, who had brought her so much humiliation and trouble.
"I was treating that person!"
Dante spoke seriously, making Grace nearly collapse from sheer exasperation.
She gritted her teeth but soon realized that scolding a mentally ill person was pointless.
It was her fault for not keeping a closer eye on him.
Taking a deep breath, she said, "Come on! Let's check on Sienna first. Then I'll take leave and send you home."
Dante coughed lightly. "I'm cured. I can go home by myself."
Grace's eyes widened in disbelief.
"You… you're cured?"
Dante nodded. "Just now, my mind suddenly cleared. I remember everything."
"If you're cured, why did you go to the morgue?" Grace eyed him suspiciously. She knew there was a chance his medication could lead to a recovery.
"I've already told you three times—I was treating her," Dante replied.
Grace was stunned into silence. She suddenly felt like an idiot. Why was she even believing the words of a supposed lunatic?
What sane person would treat a corpse who was in a morgue? And more importantly, Dante had never been a doctor before his illness.
As they spoke, Dante studied Grace.
Her delicate features were like a beautiful painting. Her eyes sparkled like stars and filled with intelligence and charm.
Her curvy figure was impossible to hide, even under her white coat.
Having this woman as his wife? Not bad at all.
Grace sighed, giving up on arguing, and pulled Dante toward the emergency ward.
Just as they reached the emergency room door, Sebastian came out, looking overjoyed while instructing a nurse.
But when he saw Grace, he quickly wiped away his smile and put on a serious expression. "You're suspended."
Grace frowned in confusion.
"Sienna was misdiagnosed as dead and sent to the morgue. This is a medical malpractice. Someone has to take responsibility. You were the doctor on duty this morning." Sebastian laid it out clearly.
Grace's face turned red with anger. "You treated Sienna when she was admitted! You were the one who signed the death certificate! What does this have to do with me?"
Sebastian smirked and pointed at Dante. "Then I'll just tell the Sabey family that he violated Sienna's corpse."
Grace immediately deflated.
The Sabey family was the city's wealthiest. They doted on Sienna, their only daughter. If they found out, Dante would be ruined.
"You know what will happen if the Sabey family learns what he did," Sebastian sneered.
Grace fell silent for a moment. "Sienna is alive, isn't she?"
"Of course. Otherwise, do you think Dante would be leaving this hospital?"
Grace trembled with rage. Now, she finally understood—so did Dante.
Sienna's misdiagnosis had already been reported to the Sabey family, meaning they couldn't cover it up. Someone had to take the blame.
The scapegoat was Grace.
Meanwhile, Sebastian, the real culprit, was about to become the Sabey family's hero.
Dante clapped his hands and smirked. "If shamelessness were a skill, you'd be a champion."
Sebastian glanced at Dante with disdain, not even bothering to respond. Why would a hospital director waste time on a lunatic?
"You think you can save Sienna?" Dante sneered.
"What do you mean?" Sebastian was annoyed. Dante was sounding a little too rational.
Dante chuckled. "Exactly what I said. You're dead wrong if you think my wife is taking the blame."
Sebastian was about to explode in anger when the emergency room doors burst open, and a nurse ran out in a panic.
"Director, bad news! Sienna… she's dying again!"
