Sullivan almost spat out a mouthful of blood. The extortion tactics were precisely like his own. Just now, he had claimed that the Porsche was a testament to his youth, and now, Dante had come up with a "symbol of love" narrative. They even turned it into a matchmaking story.
Dante's expression turned cold. "So, are you paying up or not?"
"Pay! I'll pay right away!"
Even though Sullivan was frustrated, he didn't dare utter a single word of refusal.
Dante let go of him, turned around, and took the phone from the dazed Grace. He opened the payment QR code, and soon, the sound of a one hundred thousand dollars transaction notification rang out.
"Now get lost! And don't let there be a next time, or it won't be this cheap."
As soon as the money was received, Dante kicked Sullivan away.
Sullivan was shaking with rage, but just then, he saw Blake Lewis, the head of the hospital's medical department, rushing over with eight security guards.
An idea immediately popped into his head. He shouted at Blake, "Mr. Lewis! I was beaten up by one of your hospital's doctors! You need to take responsibility!"
The Looske family was involved in pharmaceutical sales, and Sullivan had been frequenting the hospital while pursuing Grace. He was already quite familiar with Blake.
Seeing Sullivan's sorry state, Blake's face darkened even more. "What happened?"
Sullivan pointed at Grace and Dante, twisting the truth as he spoke. "She crashed into my car and had this lunatic beat me up. She even said that mentally ill people can kill without consequence! They extorted a million from me!"
Blake's anger flared. "This morning, you misdiagnosed a patient and nearly sent a living person to the morgue! And now, you're bringing a psychiatric patient to the hospital without authorization?
"Just these two violations alone are enough to revoke your medical license! You could go to prison for this!"
"Now, you're attacking people in the hospital. Do you even respect the law?"
Blake threw a heavy accusation at Grace, making sure everyone heard.
The commotion had already drawn a crowd at the hospital entrance.
When they heard Blake's words, they began whispering amongst themselves.
"Sending a living person to the morgue? Car crash extortion?"
"Is this a doctor or a gangster?"
Hearing the murmurs, Blake felt pleased.
Sebastian was his brother-in-law. When Blake heard about Sienna's misdiagnosis and the morgue incident, he knew he had to make a big scene to blame Grace. Only then could he cover for his brother-in-law.
After all, his future promotions depended on Sebastian's connections.
Sullivan added, "Mr. Lewis, we know each other well. I'll leave this matter in your hands. I expect a proper explanation later, got it?"
"Of course! Don't worry," Blake assured him.
Sullivan immediately turned and got into his Porsche.
One of his lackeys piped up, "But those security guards are just a bunch of weaklings. Can they even handle that guy?"
Sullivan scoffed. "You know nothing. I want him to make a big scene. It'd be even better if he beats a few security guards to death!"
"Then Grace will have no choice but to come begging me!"
As soon as Sullivan left, Blake arrogantly turned to Grace. "So? Are you coming willingly, or should I have them escort you?"
"Detain them both! We'll hold a hospital meeting, and there will be no leniency! If necessary, we'll call the police!"
The outpatient head nurse happened to pass by. She had a good relationship with Grace and couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Lewis, is there some misunderstanding?"
"Everyone knows Dr. Grace's medical skills. How could she make such an amateur mistake?"
Blake waved his hand dismissively. "Mind your own business! This isn't something for you to meddle in."
"Even if she's skilled, that doesn't mean she can lack medical ethics. Sending a living patient to the morgue. What is that, if not gross negligence? This is a serious medical malpractice!"
Uncertain of the full story, the head nurse hesitated and said nothing more.
Unable to hold back her anger, Grace retorted, "You're lying! When I took over my shift this morning, Sebastian had already declared Sienna dead!"
A flicker of greed and satisfaction flashed in Blake's eyes.
He had once hinted at Grace to sleep with him, only to be slapped in the face by her rejection.
Now that she had fallen into his hands, he wanted to see how she'd act all high and mighty this time.
"The hospital will investigate who's responsible!"
"Take them both to the conference room first!" Blake sneered.
Five security guards closed in. Dante leisurely remarked, "If I remember correctly, the medical department doesn't have the authority to detain people, does it?"
Blake laughed in disbelief. A lunatic was trying to argue legal rights with him.
"And who the hell are you? Do I need to explain myself to you?"
"A pervert who molests corpses in the morgue. Should I even need to ask if you should be locked up?"
The mention of corpse molestation sent a shiver down the spines of the crowd.
Whispers turned to outrage.
Grace scowled and shot a glare at Dante. He was only making things worse by speaking up at the wrong time.
She pulled out her phone to call her father, hoping to find someone who could reasonably handle the situation. At the very least, she couldn't let them arrest Dante on false charges.
But before she could make the call, Blake slapped the phone out of her hand.
"Trying to pull strings? Let me tell you, it's useless! Women like you think you can rely on your looks to trade favors for power."
He spat on the ground near Grace's feet.
Grace's face flushed red with fury, her whole body trembling.
Dante's expression darkened.
Although their marriage had been in name only for three years, Grace had taken care of him.
Seeing her being humiliated ignited a fury inside him.
"Apologize," Dante said coldly.
Blake scoffed in contempt.
Smack!
Dante slapped him twice across the face.
"You dare hit me?" Blake's veins bulged in rage. "If I don't send you to prison, I'm not Blake Lewis!"
"Hit you?" Dante sneered. "Didn't Sullivan just tell you? A mentally ill person can kill without consequences."
As he spoke, he grabbed Blake by the throat. Blake's face turned red with just a bit of pressure, and panic filled his eyes.
"Dante, let go of him!" Grace quickly tried to pull Dante away.
But Dante's expression remained cold. Blake struggled, his limbs flailing uselessly.
The security guards rushed forward, but Dante easily swatted away five of them with his free hand.
The onlookers' eyes widened in shock. The martial lunatic was not to be messed with.
"Are you going to apologize?" Dante asked icily.
Blake frantically nodded. Only then did Dante release him.
"I—I'm sorry," Blake stammered, trembling, before scrambling away into the crowd.
Once at a safe distance, he shouted, "You just wait!"
Dante smirked. "I'll be waiting. Let's see what you can do!"
Grace frowned. This wasn't like Dante at all. He had never been so violent before. She wasn't sure how to handle the situation anymore.
At that moment, Sebastian and Thomas appeared in the crowd, surrounded by several bodyguards.
