When Kayden pulled out the card, Judson froze. Standing nearby, Amelia was equally dumbfounded, holding her breath.
The platinum card was a privilege only available to clients with deposits exceeding billions of dollars. Such people were either top-tier billionaires or from prominent families. They would be welcomed with open arms by the bank director.
Regaining his composure quickly, Judson sneered. "Pulling out a fake card to show off, huh?"
It was no surprise he thought that way. Kayden was dressed shabbily and had arrived on a battered electric bike. How could someone like him possibly own a platinum card?
"Fake card?" Kayden chuckled, coldly eyeing Judson. "Are you blind? You call yourself a manager and can't even recognize a platinum card?"
"It does look quite real." Judson adjusted his glasses and nodded, mocking, "If I hadn't worked at the bank for so many years and seen so many big clients, I might not have spotted your fake card."
Judson was convinced that the card Kayden held was fake, albeit convincing. After all, every platinum cardholder he'd ever met was dressed in suits and drove luxury cars. Yet, the man before him was just a laborer.
"Oh, Kayden, stop fooling around and just leave." Amelia couldn't bear to watch any longer. She was embarrassed on Kayden's behalf for bringing out a fake card for face value. To think she had even had a good impression of him in college!
Kayden sighed, shaking his head. "It's a real card."
"Amelia, do you know him?" Judson inquired, frowning.
"W-We weren't that close." Amelia waved her hand quickly. "Just college classmates."
"Forget it." Kayden couldn't be bothered to argue with them and walked straight toward the bank.
"Hey, hey, what do you think you're doing?" Judson blocked Kayden.
"Step aside. I want to withdraw some money!"
"Can't you see the banner at our entrance? We have a prestigious client visiting today, looking like that; you should leave quickly and not tarnish our bank's image!"
Kayden, repeatedly obstructed, felt a spark of anger rising. He threw the card at Judson's face and said coldly, "Check it yourself. See if it's real or fake!"
"You've got some nerve!" Judson roared, tossing the card aside, and shouted, "Security, there's a troublemaker here. Kick him out!"
Two security guards approached from a distance.
Kayden cursed silently and immediately called the VIP-exclusive number. "Hello! I'm at your bank entrance, and a foolish manager is trying to kick me out!"
The sweet voice on the other end was clearly startled, quickly replying, "Mr. Shaw, please calm down. We'll send someone to handle it right away."
After all, Kayden was an important client; if he got upset and closed his account, they would all be fired.
"Wow, you're quite the actor!" Judson scoffed at Kayden with disdain. "You bloody pauper, if that card is real, I'll eat your electric bike."
He pointed at the bike as he spoke.
"Eat my electric bike? You're not worthy of doing that." Kayden glanced warily at Judson.
He mused, "Is he trying to scam me? I can't let him get away with taking my bike."
Seeing Kayden protectively standing by his electric bike, Judson's face flushed with a mix of anger and disbelief. Just as he was about to speak, a booming voice rang out.
"Judson! What are you doing!" A stern-looking middle-aged man stormed out, his face a mask of fury.
"Mr. Looske!" Amelia quickly greeted.
"Mr. Looske, why are you out here personally?" Judson was startled, then puzzled, when he recognized the man.
"If I hadn't come out, you would have ruined me!" Brendan Looske scolded furiously.
Brendan, having reached his position at the age of just 42, naturally had his own skills and capabilities. When he heard a foolish manager was trying to kick out a VIP client, he was nearly scared out of his wits and rushed out, leading to the scene before them.
"Mr. Looske, what are you talking about?" Judson was utterly confused.
However, Amelia seemed to have realized something, staring at Kayden in disbelief.
Ignoring Judson, Brendan scanned the area, picked up the platinum card from the ground, wiped it with his sleeve, and respectfully handed it back to Kayden. "Mr. Shaw, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."
Judson was shocked. He wondered, "What is going on? Could this laborer really own that platinum card?"
Kayden glanced at Brendan but didn't take the card. He said casually, "Mr. Looske, right? I'm very dissatisfied with your bank's service."
"I was originally planning to withdraw 30,000 dollars, but now I'm in a bad mood. I want to close my account!"
Brendan cursed Judson in his heart, hearing Kayden's words, but maintained a bitter smile. "Mr. Shaw, you must be joking. You're our bank's VIP client. Even if you empty our bank, we couldn't come up with 2 billion."
"2 billion? Did I hear that right?" Amelia was stunned, staring blankly at the calm-faced Kayden. Her monthly salary was just over five thousand, and 2 billion was unimaginable.
Meanwhile, Judson finally realized the gravity of the situation. The information he heard from Brendan matched with the VIP client they were welcoming today.
He stammered, "Mr. Looske, is this Mr. Shaw?"
Brendan became even more furious upon hearing this, scolding, "Are you blind? Mr. Shaw is such an outstanding individual, and you couldn't recognize him?"
"I really couldn't," Judson mused inwardly, glancing at the plainly dressed, unremarkable Kayden. But he dared not say it out loud, knowing he had landed himself in a colossal mess.
"Mr. Shaw, I was out of line earlier. Please don't hold it against me," Judson pleaded with a sycophantic smile, his earlier disdainful demeanor gone.
Kayden chuckled. "I can forgive you, but others might not."
Judson was bewildered but quickly realized and rushed to Amelia, grinning. "Ms. Hunt, I've been horrible to you. Please forgive me."
Amelia was dazed when she saw the once-arrogant Judson now groveling at her feet. She instinctively replied, "I-It's no big deal."
"Mr. Shaw, Ms. Hunt has forgiven me. So..." Judson looked cautiously at Kayden, knowing that if the matter weren't resolved, he would lose his job, and Brendan might eat him alive.
Kayden pointed at the electric bike lying on the ground. "You kicked my bike. How do you explain that? You also threatened to eat it. Who knows if you're trying to scam a meal?"
Judson was exasperated. He had just said it in passing—did he really have to eat the bike in public?
