In the waning autumn, the chilly winds painted Arbor City with a somber atmosphere.
Through the autumn breeze walked two unexpected visitors.
Leading the way was a young man with shaved hair and sharp eyebrows. His features were sharply defined, exuding a stern expression that imparted a majestic, imposing presence.
Following closely was a burly man, his skin bronzed and muscles robust like a bull, exuding the power of a tiger.
They headed straight to a clinic.
Above the entrance hung a sign that read "Righteous Haven," the most renowned traditional medicine clinic in Arbor City.
The owner, Brodie Santee, was a legendary healer, known for saving countless lives.
Yet, who would have thought that this compassionate healer would meet misfortune a month ago, succumbing to a sudden heart attack?
Tragedy continued to befall the Santee family.
Brodie's eldest son, Ronald Santee, committed suicide by jumping off a building, while his younger son, Hudson Santee, went mad.
Upon seeing the middle-aged beggar, Hudson, grinning foolishly by the door, the young man's eyes narrowed, and his fists clenched, nails digging into his palms.
"Louis, have you found out the truth?"
The young man coldly asked the man behind him.
"I've sent someone to investigate. We should have results soon." Louis Connor gritted his teeth, stepping forward to report.
"No matter who it is, they will pay for what they did!"
The young man's sharp eyebrows lifted, and a murderous intent poured from his eyes.
"Yes!"
Louis bowed his head, aware of the young man's temperament.
When the young master was enraged, mountains shook and the earth cracked.
The person who plotted against the Santee family would suffer a fate worse than death.
The young man knelt before Hudson, eyes filled with guilt. "Uncle!"
"Who are you? I know you must be the Monkey King, the Jade Emperor."
Hudson babbled madly, his body filthy as he lunged at the young man, giggling.
"I'm not the Monkey King or the Jade Emperor. I'm your nephew, Raymond Santee!"
Raymond was about to help Hudson when a man with a sharp face and a mustache came out of the house, raising a stick to hit Hudson without a word.
"You crazy fool, causing a ruckus every day! Your father's clinic is mine now. If you don't leave, I'll beat you to death!"
Before the stick could land, Raymond swiftly caught it.
Raymond's eyes were cold as ice.
"Brantley Wokey, leave now if you value your life!"
The man with a moustache was Brantley, Brodie's old rival, who ran a clinic across the street.
Brantley was a typical unscrupulous quack, making a fortune through deceit.
Seeing the Santee family in misfortune, he took advantage, buying Righteous Haven for a pittance.
"Oh, isn't this the bastard Brodie's son? Weren't you married into the Yale family? Wait, I heard you were jailed a few years ago. Haha! When did they let you out?" Brantley sneered at Raymond.
Raymond didn't respond. Brantley grew bolder.
"Raymond, how do you feel now that you're back and see your family's ruin? You probably haven't been to the Yale family yet. Your wife might have left for another man!"
Raymond's face turned ashen with rage.
Savannah Yale, his beloved wife, was his limit.
"Your mouth reeks!"
Seeing Raymond's expression, Louis shouted furiously, slapping Brantley multiple times until his face swelled like a pig's head, and he fainted on the ground.
"Come with me to see Grandpa."
Ignoring the fallen Brantley, Raymond stepped into the house.
In the center of the hall was Brodie's portrait. Raymond knelt silently, grief-stricken.
Brodie had adopted Raymond, not knowing his parents, and he was always scorned as an illegitimate child, but Brodie loved Raymond like his own grandson.
Five years ago, Brodie feared Raymond would be alone after his death, so he arranged a marriage with his old friend Callum Yale's granddaughter, Savannah.
The marriage was a joke at the time, and shortly after, Raymond was wrongfully accused of a crime and sentenced to five years in prison.
During those five years, everyone only knew Raymond was imprisoned, but none knew that upon entering prison, he used the medical skills Brodie taught him to save the life of the military god, Hunter Fairburn.
Recognizing Raymond's exceptional talent, Hunter took him into the military, imparting all his knowledge.
Raymond excelled, earning the title of Dragon War God.
When Brodie passed, Raymond was on a mission abroad.
Upon his return, he found Brodie dead.
"Mr. Brodie, rest in peace! Mr. Raymond will surely avenge your deep-seated grudge."
Louis respectfully bowed before Brodie's portrait.
Rising, Louis reported, "Mr. Santee, to assist you, Mr. Fairburn has also transferred Jonathon to serve as the chief of Arbor City. He'll take office in a few days."
"Good!" Raymond glanced at the deranged Hudson, instructing, "Settle my uncle down, then assist Jonathon. I have much to handle in Arbor City."
With that, Raymond spoke no more, hailing a taxi to the Yale family.
He was going to meet his beloved wife, Savannah, after five long years.
...
"Raymond, is that you?"
Raymond had just arrived at the Yale residence's gates, seeing Savannah about to leave.
Upon seeing Raymond, Savannah's expression froze.
She held no particular affection for her nominal husband.
In fact, after so long, she nearly failed to recognize him.
"Yes, I'm back!" Raymond's heart ached when he saw Savannah's slightly haggard face.
"You worthless fool, you've shamed our family enough! Why come back now? Get lost!"
Just as Raymond was about to enter, Savannah's father, Alvin Yale, shouted, blocking his path.
"Wait, it's good he's back. Quickly take him and Savannah to the city hall to get a divorce. I don't want a criminal as a son-in-law!"
As Alvin pushed Raymond out, his mother-in-law, Lily Lapwood, emerged, insisting on a divorce.
"Dad, Mom, can't you calm down? Aren't you afraid of being a laughingstock?"
Seeing the neighbors pointing and whispering, Savannah bit her lip, on the verge of tears.
"Laughingstock? Hmph, hasn't this fool caused enough of a joke for our family?"
Lily, naturally sharp-tongued, continued fiercely, "I don't care. Today I must have this fool divorce you!"
"Hehe, Auntie, if your family wants to discard this useless son-in-law, it's not so easy. You need Grandma's consent."
Suddenly, a sinister voice interrupted.
Hearing this, the Yale family's faces turned sour.
They recognized the voice as that of John Yale, the eldest grandson of the Yale family, favored by Savannah's grandmother, Sophia Merrie.
After Callum's passing, Sophia publicly declared John the family's future heir three years ago.
Arrogant and spoiled, John looked down on everyone, often bullying Savannah's family.
He was here on Sophia's orders to urge Savannah's family to attend a family gathering.
Unexpectedly, he found Raymond here.
"John, no need for your crocodile tears. Do you think I don't dare mention it to Mrs. Merrie?"
Seeing John's gloating face, Lily fumed.
"Today, I'll have Mrs. Merrie decide to kick this fool out of the Yale family!"
"Oh, is that so? Then I'll look forward to it!"
John taunted, glancing dismissively at Raymond before getting into his BMW and driving off.
"You worthless fool, why are you dawdling? Come with us to meet Mrs. Merrie!"
Alvin and Lily, still fuming from John's visit, vented all their anger on Raymond.
